So, you're defending an opportunistic liar that invariably utilises polarising language, complete fabrications and outrageous conjecture to get ratings by making a polarising statement that everyone here is wrong because they prefer not to be lied to by watching the show? I do have an example! He did a 2 hour history thing that detailed th Ukranian genocide at the hands of Stalin, and had testimonials from those affected. A report was done on these things to show that people have a habit of remembering what only effects them, and how murder can be forgotten by the masses.Vivi22 said:From the fact that, as others have mentioned, he makes things up repeatedly to polarize people against anything seen as left wing, and tries to convince people that everyone from Obama to the entire Muslim world are out to get them.w9496 said:How the fuck do you get "encouraging hatred, violence, and racism.", from his show?Vivi22 said:I really hope you're joking. Care to give examples of what he talks about that no one else wants to? What has he ever had to say that is so vitally important to society that no one else wants to talk about? I'd honestly like to see you give examples. And as for my opinion of him, you can assume whatever you like. It doesn't mean Glenn Beck isn't still a liar and an idiot, or that we aren't all a lot better off with him not confusing real issues with lies, misinformation, and paranoid propaganda on a prominent news network. He talks about the stuff that nobody else wants to talk about, and I think it's safe to assume that you formulated that opinion on sound-bytes that were taken out of context.
More popular perhaps, but I find the Daily Show much funnier, as well as generally better at satirizing the news and politics. Not to mention that while not being a serious program by any means, Stewart is far better in the interviews than Colbert. Also, Colbert is better anyway.

I'm not Glenn Beck, the only similarity is that we both wear glasses and have to spend all day arguing with a bunch of people that I don't give a shit about.barash said:So, you're defending an opportunistic liar that invariably utilises polarising language, complete fabrications and outrageous conjecture to get ratings by making a polarising statement that everyone here is wrong because they prefer not to be lied to by watching the show? Welcome to the Escapist, Mr.Beck. May your stay be enlightening and entertaining.
Because I've seen clips of Glenn Beck being just as big a tool as 99% of the other commentators, and it's raining out.w9496 said:Some of us have better things to do, eh? Maybe you haven't noticed, but it's sort of tough to put a roof on a building when it's raining. I certainly noticed, though, since I'd rather get paid than watch you tell people they can't have opinions that don't match yours. What's your excuse for hanging out in an internet forum at 640AM MST?
No, but he said Obama had a deep-seated hatred of white people, then said he never said that. Spoiler guys: We live in a world of 24 hour news, Youtube, and DVRs. You can't pretend you didn't say something that's got a million views on Youtube.clutch-monkey said:is he the guy who said "tide goes in, tide goes out, nobody can explain why" in an interview with someone?
Err...nope. Not intentionally anyway. I just regurgitated some information, adding a rough guess along side. I apologize if they had harmful bias in them.harmonic said:Nice try, but this is not a "dictionary," this is your soap box. You did not come even close to accurately describing right versus left.
You basically said right-wingers are meanies and left-wingers are nice. Please do not attempt to use the shroud of academic accuracy to stealth-insert your own personal bias when answering someone's genuine question.
Let me bring some non-bias into the discussion.
Left and right wing are two sides of a loosely-defined spectrum. Often times they are represented on the X axis, while statism versus libertarianism is represented on the Y axis. As one gets more left wing, economic freedom is lower and social freedom is higher. As one gets more right wing, economic freedom is higher, and social freedom is lower. Traveling up and down the statist versus liberatian axis determines the level of centralization or decentralization of government structure, with extremely statist being similar to totalitarian dictatorship, and libertarian being somewhat like the Holy Roman Empire circa 1500 AD.
I have nothing to say about Fox News cause I don't watch it, but to presume that someone didn't watch a show because he has a negative thought is really stupid dude. Your pretty much saying "Everyone here who hates Beck never even watched him".
