Because people like hearing that shit, because it requires no actual talent and is just the same loop over and over.

Great music...
It's alright. Nothing really special or powerful to keep me interested for long.

Back on topic, I believe that people want to use the new technology to create their own style and hope they stumble across something a lot more interesting to them.

Their are heaps of great bands for all different genre's so it's not a big deal or anything. However I would like to see some new great and powerful riffs on the mainstream music channel again, kick out all that crappy music!
Ohh but you're asking for too much my friend; the mainstream is always going to give you crap. Yes, some refreshing artist is going to hit the radio waves every now and then, but most people are not as cerebral in their approach to music, as a matter of fact, a lot of people don't give a crap about what they listen to.

That's fine, but the point is that electronic music is not just a trend or a movement in the music scene, it's a direction music took during a period where technology was being explored very curiously because of all the new discoveries being made. These musicians I mentioned (and I'm sure there are many more I don't know about) where classically trained, some of them (like Raymond Scott) where renowned jazz artists.

Electronic music is a very young kind of sound when you think of it, and you really have to have an admiration for how the tools to create it (synths, samplers, sequencers) work to be able to appreciate it; it's a language you have to learn; sounds you have to create so you can manifest you're ideas... It's a total different approach to classical music; it's controlling machines so that they do what you want them to (musically that is).
Point taken. I still prefer my classical :D

Way to be closed minded, what a great argument you have there.

So bands like Prodigy are shit, because they use loops, and they have no talent right?

Also Blood Stain Child are brilliant for their work with fusing trance and other subgenres of techno with metal haha, quite an epic combination.

While many people have raised valid points, the main reason why music is becoming more and more electronic is that artists and recording studios have discovered something wonderful about it, IT'S CHEAPER. Why spend possibly thousands of dollars for hundreds of musicians on an orchestra to play a full backing your song when you can just pay a sound technician to make something with a driving beat and a looping synth line?

I just don't like Electronic Music. Is that so bad?
That's not what I was talking about mon ami, you mentioned that it requires no talent. That I disagree with :) Electronic music isn't just the shite you see on tv.

But I don't need to argue this fact with someone who cares not a shit hmm? XD

Electronic music's just a phase, like disco and 80s synth crap. It won't fade out completely, but some other style will take over soon enough. I'm personally rooting for European heavy metal to be the next phase (Woo!!! Bodom! Nightwish! In Flames!). With the popularity of Disturbed, heavy metal looks to be getting popular again, and I want to start seeing more metal bands become mainstream.

The only thing I hate is the overuse of Autotune, Daft Punk is the only band allowed to use that...in my world...

Well there are a lot of people who do give a crap as well and the fact so many people are aware like you who tell me this, that gives me hope. :)

So thank you.

You don't find this the least bit entrancing?

And OP: I guess people like the sound of it.
...... I think I love you! :D

I've yet to meet one person that can't get a single drop of groove from this song.

I never did like electronic music very much. Even the driving beat, which I love, seems wrong to me. I would prefer human hands playing the instruments and a vocalist who utilises his voice, only.

It has to do with having more freedom to create sounds, doing things that are impossible with analog stuff. I like it, myself, though I haven't got a preference.
