Well, I like the design and animation, plus the dialogue doesn't hurt my ears like most cartoons these days. Also, they do have their awesome moments, good songs and funny scenes.

However, I couldn't watch the new episode all the way through because I find the script awful. I 'll watch the next couple of episodes to make sure but I think I'm not gonna be brony any more.

My Little Pony is popular because there exists, on the internet, a very large and tightly-knit community devoted to baffling and offending everyone else. They will do anything to achieve their goal, and when they're done they will go and have a delicious cruller.

Someday there will be a new generation looking to baffle and offend itself, and then the new fad will be the inevitable revival of GI Joe, where all the Joes are hippies. But for now, it's ponies.

Hmm, well I don't know either, because I tried to watch the first episode, and it just was like grinding a cheese grater on my brain, because of how bad it was and annoying it sounded.

So, I am definitely not a brony.

Though I am a brawny: A guy that happens to like tough paper towels.

Ddescus was what!?
Ddescus was a man who built a rocket ship to go to the moon. He faced a problem right from the start; he didn't have any rocket fuel. So, Dddescus had set sail in his boat "Legonar" and sailed the seven seas in search of a magical tomato that was said to have the ability to be turned into an infinite rocket fuel source. After sailing for a couple months, he got word that there was a patch of magical tomatoes a hundred or so miles away on an uninhabited island. Ddescus continued on, but it was all for naught. Ddescus had forgotten to stock up on lime juice before setting sail again, so he got scurvy and died. Poor Ddescus never got to see if his rocket ship could fly; his journey for the magical tomato fuel killed him. And that my friend is where the saying "A lime juice bottle away from a magical tomato" comes form, as well as "Ddescus was" which is a warning on how forgetful people shouldn't go on journeys to find magical tomatoes.

I'll make it simple OP. I just recently got into it, and after watching a few episodes and knowing a little background, I can see why.
First of all, the show is clever and the characters are as likable as other good shows, plot is a little girlish, but still valid, and seem to teach good lessons to the young audience that this is targeted at. It's also very much like the older cartoons that many watched when they were little, but they also added a more recent sense of reference for humor. It is also made by some more famous old cartoon makers. If I'm correct, it's made by the same person who made powerpuff girls, and maybe Dexters lab. I'm a little lazy to look it up right now.

Id defenetly say its because of its charm.
its kind of like why nyan cat became so popular, its full of rainbows and cute stuff.
and people like cute stuff. you do feel charmed at a puppy, or a kitten.
and yea, the show is also aimed at 8-year old girls AND their parents (since they get to stare at whatever the kids are watching on the TV.)

bronys? mainly because a show like my little pony frendship is magic is exactly the opossite of what a manly man show would be. and besides, the internet loves contradictions.

Oh joy, this thread again. The search bar is your friend.
We watch it because we like it. You might like it, you might not. The only way to tell is to give it a whirl. I recommend watching the first, or first and second, episodes of season 2, which are the best episodes in my opinion. If you like it, that's fine, if you don't, that's fine too.
I'll post the episodes here if you don't feel like searching (it's two episodes put together, so, make some popcorn or something).

These threads need to stop. It just becomes a giant trolling thread. I don't get why people can't figure this question out for themselves. Why is it popular? Because a lot of people like the show plain and simple. These threads just give people who hate the show an opportunity to make the argument "stop liking what I don't like."

This recent one has this ugly "random shit at Cartoon Network"-quality to it (kind of like The Powerpuff Girls or Dexters Laboratory).

Im not going to argue the other points, but "Well-animated" it is NOT!
Gee, I wonder why it looks like Powerpuff Girls and Dexters Lab.... Hmmm, surely it is only a coincidence!

Also, the animation style isn't ghost in the shell quality, but it is well drawn and there is no arguing that.
A badly animated show is something like <url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed,_Edd_n_Eddy>this, and even still, that is just a different animation style.
Saying it is badly animated makes as much sense as saying a particular food that people enjoy, tastes bad.
Its just your personal taste.

OP: Because the show is win.
Thats all I will say, because I am sick of this topic coming up all the time.
But to be fair, its been what... 2 weeks since the last one?

Another pony thread, another chance to link to the usergroup.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/MLP-Friendship-is-Magic

Steadily approaching 1000 members.

OT: The show is good. We like it. Why is this a difficult concept?

I honestly don't know. I've never seen any MLP shows in my life. Am I missing a 'must see'? Constantly I see people's avatar as something to do with MLP than anything else, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against it.

I'm totally not sure if it's all a joke and people put a MLP avatar (usually a .gif) just for laughs. If it is a joke I don't get it. Maybe it's not a joke, maybe people like the show. If you do like the show, what's so amazing about it? Please educate me.

Oh, and what's a 'brony'?
Because people keep asking "why is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic so popular?"

No, literally that is half the reason why people give this show a chance.

I made almost this same thread, and about 50 of the people in the MLP forum group say they were "turned" by my thread :p

You interested at all?

Start with this episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm-L-nRwacE

Yeah, that's why I never complain too much when I see these threads. If people are going to give us an excuse to advertise, may as well make the best of it.

I watch it because of Pinkie Pie. Even the most mature adult can laugh at her antics.

I know people who think she's annoying.

They are, objectively speaking, wrong.

Shall we declare these threads a weekly tradition? Create a "Why should I care about MLP" forum topic? Forget search bar fail, this appears on the main page sidebar on a daily basis. So it can't be for lack of asking. Maybe someone's trying to force a meme here?

Simply. Because it's a good show.
Doctor Who and other shows have massive followings. The only reason MLP gets more attention is because there are groups of haters who can't seem to understand that people are allowed to like a show.

For future reference though, use the search bar before creating a thread. This thread pops again and again.
I don't see why people have such a problem with MLP.
