i really liked it the fact that you where defenseless and had to use you brain to get out alive rather then just blowing shit up and i did love glados's darkness the rat man scribblings where a bit creepy and very intreging (spelling sucks) and hell even companion cube was well done, i didn't like it personally but since i had just learned glados wasn't to be trusted the way she kept assuring me it was safe made me keep an eye on it. i thought it was gonna come alive just as i killed it =P. also whats which the cake is a lie thing? after you destroy glados's rage curiosity and stuff she should lose her wit and need to lye then if you listen the last thing she says is "there really was a cake..."

It's considered one of the best games of all time because a lot of people really enjoyed it.

That's really all there is to it. We could all sit here listing bullet points to argue why it is/isn't a great game, but it's completely subjective.

Many people (including myself) liked it enough to consider it a classic. Many people (including the OP) didn't. Neither is right or wrong.

Haha you played it for 4 HOURS (!) and didn't complete it?

No wonder a simple puzzle game held no appeal.

Im very curious why Portal is considered one of the best games of all time, i played it on ps3 for about 4 hours and got really bored really fast lol. I don't mean to offend anyone, is it just becasue of the physics engine or something??? help lol
Judging by your grammar and the last sentence, I recommend you to wait a few years. Maybe even until you finish elementary.

If pressed I'd say it was because it was so simple but so innovative. Simple solutions to generally mind-numbing problems and all that. The atmosphere was great as well.

Hold on.... You played it for four hours WITHOUT finishing it?

Boy, you suck.

I hate to not be supportive, but... really. You suck.
Admittedly, it is a little difficult to get used to turning upside down after coming out of a portal.
Yeah... But you've got to get your portals right, so that control at that point isn't a problem. Gravity'll do the work once you figure whatever it is out.

It was good and original, But it don't think it deserves almost god-like status people so often give it.

Probably because a lot more people than you didnt find it boring lol

And because they recognized it for what it was lol

And because they didnt type lol to such an unneccesary extent lol

Because it was an innovative original awesome game.
It was also perfect.
add humorous and you have got it right.

AND DUDE 4 HOURs It is meant to be short and sweet with gameplay of 30 to 60 minutes. Thats why it is so perfect so much goodness in such a short game.

Because if you pick a simple concept and then put a valve stamp of quality on it you can't say the game doesn't work, and peoples responses can be easily dismissed because they are considered to be 'nit-picking.'
