Why is sex and gaming so far apart?

I was thinking while playing Fallout 3 the other day, in real human terms the urge to have sex is massively strong, but now or days its much more repressed, but imagine we took all the safety from our life's, we lived in a place were death could strike at any moment, you would want to get laid for various reasons.

I'm using Fallout 3 as a example here, your in a post-apocalyptic world, base human instincts come to force, you would shag a hell load, like shooting a female raider's gun and leg, killing her comrades, shagging her then kill her, it would be human to do such things.

So why is this bad? i would like to roleplay as a real human being that includes all forms of choice, whether or not to be evil or good, murder or not, sex or not, gay or straight or even to have a profession.

Its hard to describe without sounding like a pervert, but i think i got my point across.

If she's bitching already, odds are pretty good you aren't getting any anyway.

Because Jack Thompson will have a huge fit over it and i think it would increase realism and i would play games with that in it as long as the sex weren't a selling point, just a part of the freedom. Unlike Fable 2

No, no, i wasn't on about it as a whole game in general, i just think that free roaming games, aren't exacly free roaming, i was thinking, if i can tear someone's heart out, feed it to them then eat there face before they die makes a game 18+ where is the choice for sex and such.

It wouldn't be a main selling point, just as a sub-device, like to get someone's money for example

Pornographic video games exist, the Leisure Suit Larry games for instance, most people are just too embarrassed to ever mention them. Your horrendous grammar has raped my soul!

"Why are sex and gaming so far apart?" Probably because you're unable to create a grammatically correct sentence.

But to the point, are pee gees are already silly in terms of complexity. Soon you'll need buttons A though Z.
a: jump
b: Kick
c: talk
d: stand there
e: punch
f: brood
g: defecate
h: urinate
i: shag
j: shoot
etc
etc
etc

According to my colleges firewall, many games contain various degrees of pornography (usually Swedish or Danish for some reason) which is why I'm not allowed to look at a lot of gaming website... (Makes a Games Design course a fair bit harder tho'...)

And thank's for giving me some lovely mental images I can remember when I'm about 40...

That somehow reminds me of a little exchange between two characters in the first Resident Evil film: Rain (a female UBCS squaddie) tells Spence (Umbrella Security Operative) after being bitten by an undead: "When we get out of here, I think I'm gonna get laid." Reply: "Yeah, you might wanna get cleaned up first..."

Sorry, but I can't think of any other valid comment to make in this situation...

That's not cool, man. Any game that has a "rape" option is probably not going to see me playing it, even if said option is completely optional. (I didn't even notice that sentence phrasing until after I wrote and posted it, but I'm leaving it up because it made me smirk.)

And really, if people got worked up over the prostitute shagging in Vice City (despite the fact they didn't actually do anything) and the Hot Coffee mod in San Andreas(despite the fact said feature had to be hacked in order to actually show up in the game, and the in-game graphics made said feature look really silly and lame), then there's no chance we're going to get "options" like the ones you talked about for years.

And I'm totally fine with that. In-game freedom should have SOME limits. It's a fantasy world with no real-life consequences for your actions, so there need to be some kind of restrictions on what's okay to do. And when I say "limits" I mean, "don't give the player the ability to do something totally sick and disgusting for no good reason."

Leisure Suit Larry was hilarious though.

They're so far apart because, frankly, if they put sex in games like Fallout 3, for example, then not only would they have to come up with some ridiculous minigame or cutscene to fill it in, it would detract from the actual glory of the game if all you thought about was "Kill raider lady so I can has bewbz".

In short, it would detract from the experience. It's like asking why Hilary Clinton and gaming is so far apart.

Also, Mass Effect and Fable.

Oh, yes. Completely human.

Um i think the word your looking for here is rape, plain and simple. And maybe just maybe its not in most games cause guess what! we have it in real life. Same reason why we don't have "doing the laundry" video games or "making lunch". No burger time does not count. And feeding the dog..well that may be a bad example but you know what im trying to say. Most games no matter how realsitic they may be are still fantasy to the majority of us. That's the point.

A better Fallout 3 example - without all the rape.

"Hey prostitute, want to have sex? Here is far too many bottle caps."

"Ok, go upstairs to my room handsome."

She then lies down in a bed, and then you lie down next to her. That is not SEX bethesda, do you think I'm stupid?
