The Escapist has 13 weekly shows and non of them fall on Sunday? Why is there an avoidance on this day; is it because of its christian meaning? Is it because buildings might be closed on this day?

There is one simple reason, which will be illustrated in this picture containing the late, great Richard Griffiths...

Honestly though, I'd guess that it's just because, even non-religiously, Sunday is considered a day to rest, for most people.

Hagrid doesn't get the concept of Sundays. You know who else doesn't get that concept?

Seriously. She doesn't seem to get the concept of taking a day off to rest every once in a while, I cannot wait to move out so I'm not yanked out of bed on my day off to clean the house.

Well, to be fair, the staff who run the site (and/or upload the videos) would be the only ones who need to actually be around on the weekend. Most of the videos are scripted, recorded, edited, etc. in the week between the last posting and leading up to their actual posting. And I imagine that video uploading could probably be done by the tech guys even if they're not "in the office", as it were.

Other than that, yeah, your post. Sunday tends to be "fuck off day" for most people.

Because of the oppressive Catholic Church doctrine.

Or because people need a day off and Sunday is the "go to" day.

Take your pick.

No, it's not Christianity related. In fact, the Escapist is paganistic in nature and they celebrate the day of the sun at a secret ceremony somewhere in the middle of a forest. There are only mere rumours of what happens at those celebrations but nobody knows for sure. However, my most reliable sources speak of barbecue, cake and pizza.

It's a shame that there is nothing on Sundays, as that is most people's "fuck off" day, there'd probably be a good opening for entertainment. (Also, why is "there'd" not an acceptable contraction?)

Good to know.
Also good to know that I have a spell checker.

The Escapist staff doesn't work weekends. Or if they do, they don't work Sundays in particular.

I seem to recall a mod issue needing higher authority to be settled and none of the site staff being available until Monday or something.

We get a good loadout on the weekdays so I'm not complaining.

Don't listen to all these other people. They're just trying to cover up a shady bit o business that went down many years back, what with all their 'day off' nonsense.

It's because The Escapist sold one seventh of its soul to the devil in exchange for an unlimited supply of silly hats. Disappointing, I know, but can you say you would have done any better in a similar situation?

There are no religious reasons for the Escapist not to show new material on Sundays.

Given that Ashley Esqueda's new Saturday show Geekend Update [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/geekend-update] (which is improving impressively by the week) is getting so little love (if the views in the Featured Content are any measure) there may not be enough community interest to warrant a Sunday show.

Frankly, I suggest folks give Geekend Update their attention.[footnote]I still think she kinda looks like Megan Fox, though maybe that's just me.[/footnote] I enjoy techno reports like you find there and I can't find much of that stuff on TV anymore. Hell, the Discovery Channel and The Learning Channel have gone soooooo downhill in the last few years... *sniffles*

Show some love and maybe the Powers That Be will consider presenting new content on this site throughout the entire week. But that's just my 2 cents. I dunno what the Bosses think.[footnote]When I asked Paul Gruberman to hack Susan's private files his asked for price was too high. Kross, on the other hand, was so eager to do it that I withdrew the request and backed away...very, very slowly...[/footnote]

I think that's more of a content thing than the day. A tech/science show is still a pretty niche thing even on a website like this, considering it's primarily gaming.

EDIT: That said I've noticed that it seems to not be doing too well and I wish it would.

Some of it is that, indeed. But as the guys at Reel Physics [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/reel-physics] are demonstrating there's enough interest for such a niche to be supported.

The trick is that Ashley's only done 6 episodes now and she's just getting her feet under her. A lot of people were critical of her initial efforts (as seen in the Comments on the earliest shows) and unlike Lisa Foiles Ashley is a relative unknown to the Escapist community.

But the shows are entertaining and she's starting to get her groove. And it IS the first weekend episode of anything that the Escapist is trying out so I think she's going to get enough time to grow on the community.

Especially if you dig robots! ^_^

She's a Cylon sympathizer, by the way. D:

I still say this to myself every Sunday. (v'-')7

OT: Simply put: The staff don't come in on the weekends. Like most 9-5 jobs.

Heck, even some of the Moderators take the weekend off. Luckily there's unemployed lazy-bones like me to spy on keep an eye on the forums. (Not that all the Mods working weekends are unemployed/lazy, just me.)

Anyway, they did have the Sunday funnies at one point, but I digress;

The Escapist does provide 13 weekly shows. Plus all the news articles. Surely they deserve a day off like the rest of us?

You do realise that is the weekend and like more works (well like office) they have the weekend off right? They do have lives outside of the Escapist and they aren't canter to our needs to come in the weekend and upload a show for us to watch and also monitoring the forum (well there are still a few mods in the weekends).
