I completely agree with anyone that he has a right to make the film. what i'm saying is it justifyable being a bit worried.

I would ask that you watch the trailer, but it's extremely graphic (and Boll plays a gas chamber attendant in said trailer). So if your easily offended i wouldn't look it up.

I'm glad Boll was turned away from making a WOW film as well. The fact that Blizzard themselves said they wouldn't seel the rights to him speaks quite a bit about how he is seen in the work of film.

There are two people that, on the top of my head, I can think of that shouldn't make a film about the Holocaust. Micheal Bay is on of them and Uwe Boll is the other one.

Though I would laugh if it actually turned out to be a good or even a decent film. I mean, he has to make at least one good film, right? Monkeys with typewriters and all that.

German tax loopholes. No, really, I ain't BSing you, he and his investors get a huge tax write-off/refund if his movies tank.

Because Uwe Boll is a real life troll, and he knows it.
More importantly: He knows how to make money off of it.
His films only garner as much attention as they do because of haters; he wouldn't have made nearly as much money without that attention (his tax code abuse pays for production, but if nobody pays to see his shitty movie, he will break even).

He's little more than a playground bully turned con-artist. Shit, his entire scheme could have been the plot of The Producers.

Boll uses a law in Germany regarding film. It means he can reclaim costs and must only pay tax on money the film eventually films, not the money used to make it. He owns his own company who is involved in the film making process.

Bill is just seeing how much he can get away with. It's like finding out that you're immortal and then trying to kill yourself to find out how immortal you are.

he just wants to draw attention to himself, and how better to do that then make a movie about something taboo, frankly it looks like its gonna be a shitty gore movie and will not likely have anything note worthy about it other then the huge amount of free publicity he'll get for it

Hold up, hold up. Uwe Boll said that Schindler's List does not appeal to younger generations? he actually said this? and he's trying to make a Holocaust film, which I assume will be targeted towards younger generations? i... don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Maybe i sound crazy, but what if, and that's a big if, he makes a good movie? Boll is a giant douchebag but i don't think he is going to make fun of the holocaust.

I first saw Schindler's list when i was 14. The girl in the little red dress is one of my favourite cinematic moments. I don't understand what Boll means when it doesn't appeal to young people. That is one of the most heart grabbing moments i've seen, and i'm a Film Student who loves Films.

Here is what he said:

In September 2010, a trailer for his new film, entitled Auschwitz, about the concentration camp, was posted on YouTube. The trailer, in which Boll appears as an SS gas-chamber guard, contains explicit scenes of the brutalization and killing of concentration camp inmates.[48] Boll has been quoted as saying that films such as Schindler's List "no longer had the ability to reach young people and that it was his duty as a German to make the film as a way of confronting the past."

That's the trailer, but i found it quite graphic, so i just want to give fair warning about it.

I hated most of his work, but Postal was a great funny flick I thought and relatively faithful to the tone of the game.

I think Uwe could be a good director he just doesn't want to. I think he's at his best though when he's trying to be as offensive as possible.

Why? Because he can, that is why... He takes advantage of a legal loophole that let him makes movies when they flop (which most do, considering their quality). He is "the producers" of german film industry.

The question of wheter it will actually be good is something else entirely. Boll is a troll, both on his comments and on his work (the statement that he will aim to make a better holocaust film that Schindler's List is yet another proof of that). He is most confortable being a troll, as when he aims to be political, shocking or controversial without any real merit (just watch Postal... or, better yet, don't watch Postal)... there is nothing in his career that makes me believe he can pull this off with any kind of sensibility.

Wait... Schindler's List doesnt appeal to young people... so he's making a Holocaust movie. And most Holocaust movies get the R rating just based on the source material (unless you do a Boy in Striped Pajamas sorta movie). So how does he think he'll market it to young People.

You know, you could say its a conspiracy in the film industry that critics are boycotting the film to keep Schindler's List as one of the greatest movies (though I've never seen it, so I cant comment), and not give anyone else a chance (cause how many holocaust films have come out since then? You can say the same for the Titanic type films where its love and not a suspense film [Though I just want to see a film about the Britannic, but I think thats just me]). Film Critics should have to watch any movie. It doestn matter what it is, or who makes it. Its your job to review movies, both good and bad.

Wait... A German film producer is working on a Holocaust film. Wow, that's not conspicuous AT ALL!

(Run for the hills, folks.)

[H]is next film, Auschwitz looks in detail at the atrocities of the holocaust.
I do sometimes wonder if he is just an epic troll. While I have my doubts about it (his primary focus tends to be the budgets of those who fund him due to tax breaks of 'culture/arts' projects as opposed to a creative vision) I would love for the film to be brilliant and respectful of the source material and historical context.
