In more than a few topics today, I've heard people complain about Windows Vista.

But why do people hate it?
I'm using it and I don't see what the big problem is.

Thanks in advance to everyone who gives me an actual explanation.

Well I'm not computer savy enough to really know what's so horrific about it, but I do know it won't play Dungeon keeper, and that is not cool.

Becouse it's a *****. It slows down the computer, It's (fucking) expensive (in Serbia), it looks nice but infact it's a ***** and once I installed some LEGAL software on it that was actually meant for XP and it gave me the blue screen of death (don't remember what software)

It's not. People make a big deal out of how bad it is. My brother has it run fine on his new computer.

It isn't. Most Vista bashers are either Mac users or people who have never used it.

You can disable most of the annoying features in about 10 seconds, which is most of what anyone complains about anyways.

I haven't ever had any major problems with it. (No more then XP anyways.) I think people just like to ***** because the pre-SP1 version had problems and they never tired to use it again.

It plays dungeon keeper 2 fine, so there is much rejoicing. But I really don't understand what's so bad about Vista I've never had any problems with it and I find its sleek look more aesthetically pleasing then XP

I must now look into this game series as it intrigues me greatly...

I've had Vista running on my laptop now for about 12 months and I haven't found any problems with file handling it making my laptop slow. However, I did have a problem for a while where it would just go into "hibernation" and there was no way to get it out of it unless I rebooted, thankfully this no longer happens and I can use Vista normally :)

Different people dislike Vista for different reasons. Here are a few to choose from:
[ul][li]It's bigger, slower, and takes up more memory than XP[/li]
[li]The stricter security system is poorly designed and just ends up getting in the way most of the time. (the frequent "please run this as administrator" things and the slow, clunky way you have to log in to do so)[/li]
[li]It broke compatibility with some old software and drivers, and the makers of that software were slow to deliver fixes.[/li]
[li]The new features aren't good enough to justify the trouble of changing[/li]
[li]A bunch of other reasons, some reasonable, some silly[/li]
[li]Everyone else hates it, so it must be awful! (that's one of the silly reasons)[/li][/ul]

Yeah 2 plays fine, but I always prefered the first game, despite it being so old you can count the polygons in an imp on two hands.

Lets see it steals a gig of ram, you need to give it permission to do basically anything and so many little things I have to configure or run in admin mode to get working. Just a pain in the ass really. It also gave me some error in an auto update that ended up frying my video card.

I've never rarely gotten those Admin messages, and just how much bigger is it?

Also, number 4 is an opinion that may be different for other people.

Seconded.

I was like that, then I got a kick-ass computer with it. I don't mind it too much.

Because Vista HATES games, deliberately nags your ass off about changes it makes to itself(!), deprives you of the ware freedom XP has (sounds and recording for one thing) and the system requirements are just unfair.

And let's not forget some games only run on Vista in a RETARDED attempt at phasing out XP just to promote Vista.

Haven't read any of the other posts, I just noticed that this was posted in the forum. Here's why vista sucks: BECAUSE YOU TOUCH YOURSELF.

And I'm not checking this thread again. Have fun with it.
