It's fun and those of us that loved Warcraft 3's story enjoy the closure that WoW has and will continue to offer.

You don't find it fun and that's ok. WoW doesn't care. It has 10 million others to feed off of. :D
I love the bolded line.
Haha not sure if you're attempting to troll or not but it's true. WoW's closed many plot threads and still has more to finish. Illidan's, Kael'thas' and Arthas' storylines are all wrapped up. All we need is a final battle against The Burning Legion in Cataclysm and a real showdown with Archimonde and I'll be a happy fellow.

It's an MMO. Its gameplay isn't as good as a proper RPG and its story doesn't feel as impacting. However the fact its an MMO also gives it advantages. It's huge community and depth to the end game stuff it what makes it last.

Because people like wasting time.

Seriously. A lot of people have too much time and so they look for ways to spend it. It's not so much of a stretch to think some people would prefer an immersive fantasy world to do nothing in, rather than doing nothing in the real world. And of course I'm talking not about the combat, but the constant long distance traveling and tedious crap work I've heard of in that game.
Haha, I direct you to the comment above yours.

Because being cash cattle for Blizzard is completely different than being cash cattle for any other game developer ever right?

Lets keep it simple.

Easy accessibility due to very low system requirements
Easy learning curve and gameplay mechanics
Building off previously established technique of instant gratification
Building off of previously established narrative tropes for depth.
Social connectivity via the internet
Extensive marketing.

And a thank you to Savagezion for saving me from having to write the same response to

I have fun PvPing but I guess you didn't get past lvl 15? lol.
ROFL, no offense man, but every other MMO was like it. Ever hear of Everquest as a prime example? WoW once upon a time was reffered to as an "Everquest clone" the same way that so many other games are called "WoW clones" today. Everquest wasn't the only one though. Many others used that same system... actually almost all of them did.

It is true that WoW had a somewhat more polished approach to the system. But the polish was not near as much as most WoW fans would have someone believe. The polish didn't really come until later when it had already blown up.

Magister's Terrace was merely a setback...

No real effort, huh? Eh, I readily admit that what I say I draw from what I hear from those who do play, and not personal experience. Even without that stuff, though, WoW is undeniably a colossal time drain, no matter what you do in it, which, I imagine, is the point, referring to my first comment. People love to waste time. It's probably so immersive that people can lose an entire day to it, which is actually desirable for some when, for example, they're off work and cant figure out anything to do.

I didn't get it on my first character either.

Once you get past the earlier levels and start getting into guilds, pvp and raids then the addiction really kicks in

Well, hate to break it to you, but every mmo is like that. They are designed that way. And relax, I wasn't trying to be mean, I just found it funny that your comment came right after that guy's.

Wait, Archimonde isn't dead? What the fuck?
Caverns of Time: Mount Hyjal.

It allowed WoW players to go back in time and fight against Archimonde.

Arguably the 'weakest' of the Caverns instances since there weren't any members of the Infinite Dragonflight in that one, but it was still funzies.

Edit: Oh right, just noticed the post you're referring too. Yeah, I think he means Sargeras rather than Archimonde. Sargeras just got thrown back into the Twisting Nether in Sunwell Plateau.

I shouldn't have to level up to max levels to do raids and such, but from what I read and heard the first raids don't really happen for a while.. at least in DDO they happen fairly early (though we have less of them)
You can do many many many instances (5 man dungeons) all the way to 80, some raid at 60 (55+ minimum but you won't contribute much) then more at 70, then more at 80, so you can raid before max level.

I did not know that, thank you Bobby1361, while it hasn't changed my overall perspective on WoW, it's good to know that it just isn't grindfest to 80... (well it might be, but I won't know :)).

Oh, I'm not really sure who Sargeras is.... sounds like a dragon name though. Oh I only know a few things about WoW from reading wiki's... but I played Warcraft 3 and TFT....that is the only thing that even holds my interest in WoW :)

"Sargeras is the creator and leader of the Burning Legion. Sargeras was once a vanir titan, a Champion of the Pantheon chosen to defend the worlds they had created."

Wowwiki [http://www.wowwiki.com/Sargeras]

He was Archimonde's boss.

Edit: God damn do I feel stupid. It was Kil'jaeden in Sunwell, not Sargeras. Kil'Jaeden was Archimonde's equal, just below Sargeras iirc.

You need to find something in the game that you don't find boring, you don't have to grind quests all the way to the top. If I were to speculate I'd say it's mainly that it's one big sophisticated chat program that lets you do things while you chat. Yes it can get boring, especially when you do things repeatedly, to which I say, try and do different things.
