Well I did a poll a while ago (would you buy golden sun 3) and around 70% of those who voted indicated they would buy it so in "theory" 70% of us should be going nuts. I personally quite wait

I think it's quite good that we're not going nuts because all the repeat threads got really annoying with games like Prototype

True, true. But it actually made me a little sad to see not a single Golden Sun thread after the conference. And a little dosis of crazy doesn't hurt once in a while, don't you think? ;)

..Although..last year I went nuts too, but in a different way.

Okay, this announcement felt like being awoken by sirens, and then being forced to eat dirty socks. I've been waiting forever for a sequel, and now I find out it's for the DS! I don't have a DS, I own a PSP. This certainly ruins my good, evil mood.

I've been saying OH MY GOD GOLDEN SUN 3 every 20 min since I heard it. I have been Googling that shit every month since I beat The Lost Age 6 years ago. So in conclusion WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT.

And people seem to be talking about who the characters in the game are and I read in a press release that the main characters are the descendants of the originals. You guys didn't think you'd be starting with level 40+ characters did you?
What, you don't like murdering slimes with Ultima?

I'm excited about this because Golden Sun had a really good mix of combat and puzzles. When you got tired of the puzzles, there would be a giant boss for you to kill. Also, the fact that you didn't need to grind was cool. I remember the last boss of GS: The Lost Age, being able to use the amazingly cheap Cruel Ruin attack, and beating him in one try. I spent about an hour fighting him, mostly just trying to damage him in his third stage while reviving my party members like mad. Good times.

I played the first one and ya it was good but I don't think this one looks good.

I hate how it is in 3-D because the original wasn't and I hate how all game companies now decide to make all Nintendo DS games 3-D because they just look like shit (with the exception of any DS mario game),but I mean you don't have to go and make a shitty looking 3-D just make a awesome looking 2-D game. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
I agree, I would love if they did the majority of the game in 2D, because I loved all of the graphics the series had, especially all of the motions the characters made. I don't think that they will disappoint with the 3D though.

So now you're in a good, good mood eh?

Well, since Golden Sun is a 2nd party Nintendo franchise pur sang, this was to be expected of course.

Because you missed the massive response when the news was first posted here on The Escapist.

EDIT: Look Ma! I wasn't a douchebag on a Golden Sun thread, I'm so proud of me.

Sweeeet. I've been waiting very patiently for this. Golden Sun was the very first game that I played on the GBA. Might not be near the best RPGs I've played...but it was fun, it looked great, and the nostalgia-factor sweetens it. Glad to see that Nintendo is showing a little love to some of its more obscure properties. They may still recycle characters ad infinitum, but at least they're recycling ones we've forgotten.

I'll be sure to pick up GSDS when it comes. It'll look good alongside my copy of Punch-Out!!...and perhaps an eventual Mother compilation (Please, Nintendo? Pretty please?)

Camelot said they did want to make another GS in an interview from '07 but it would take awhile because they do not want to half ass it. When I read the LiveBlog I about cried in front of about 30 people (I was using my cell phone's internet). I loved TLA. I wonder how the summon system will work and if the class setup mechanic is still pretty complex while being really intuitive. Now that all 72 Djinn have been located they better make an even better system now.

I don't care about repeating threads. I'm just assuming you weren't on yesterday
Wew, saved. I created this topic a few hours after the conference, was busy cheering back then. Those Golden Sun topics already sank in the depths of this forum when I came along.

Assuming that was a serious post: Golden Sun are two jRPGs released on the gameboy advance. They are actually one game, but splitted in half because the gba cartridges were too small for the whole game. Both games received very positive feedback from the press, and both games sold well. Until this announcement, the 'franchise' was in a coma for 6 years. Oh, and it is awesome.

Oh, Golden Sun is the game that I screamed at the TV and Cheered to the heavens about. My friend was pretty angry since I woke up his mom but fucking hell, Golden Sun made my child. [issac ftw]. But seriously, Golden Sun is going to be even better if you can import characters like you could to II. Just maybe without the 4 page code... -.-

I'm pretty excited. I'm quite curious as to how they're going to handle everything now that Alchemy is restored to the world, along with the little tidbits of info that were revealed after the credits. What happens to Alex trapped under the mountain? What about the little piece of the Golden Sun that was put into Isaac to prevent Alex from gaining all of the power? I really hope they get answered.

Even if they don't I'll still be getting it. The originals were great games with fun abilities and a surprisingly good plot. Definitely can't wait for the sequel.

I am very glad this is being released, seeing as I never played the original and now I don't have to go out of my way to get it.
