Reaction shots are hard? I thought people just took a random picture of whatever they were watching and then put words on.

In a few years if you still like MLP, props, you enjoyed something because you enjoyed it. It's weird to outsiders, but like furries, anal and god: To each their own.

On a more serious note:
A clinic reason its popular,
Scroll back around 9 months, to October. A article was published scaremongering about the death of origional animation and the growth of animation produced just to sell toys, citing the new My Little Pony animation as an example.
So People went to watch, hoping to get some amusement from its cheesy badness, except it wasn't-Well it's sugary as hell but Importantly it knows it is and takes advantage of it. So when the classic "Bookish Social Recluse" character meats up the "Hyper Genki Girl" character, the first thing that happens-She walks over to the drinks table with a pained expression on her face and pours herself a drink.
Its was this kind of self awareness that made all that made it all bearable(Opening notes of a song start playing "Tell me she's not"(First line of song) "*sigh* "She is".
Its not the best piece of animation ever but its defiantly the best piece of animation ever Compared to what was expected of it.
Personally I enjoy it as I see a show that actually teaches morals to live by "Sometimes your friends are jerks, don't let them get away with it-It won't end well", and the series of a whole has one of the best of all "Don't define yourself by what you (think you)can do, define your self by what you enjoy doing" All without ramming it down your throat.

I suppose: But you can read morals in anything, and I DO feel as if the morals are the purpose of the show rather than say, writing an entertaining story. She needs to stop being so proud because her friends care about her and they'll help out! OH YAY SHE ASKED FOR HELP, and now they're all working together! Oh man! She has to choose between her friends, that's so hard! But wait! She just had to ASK for more tickets! They're here now and we can all have fun together!

Maybe I'm talking out my ass, Adventure Time - Memories of Boom Boom mountain, you can see the moral. They blurt it out right at the end, but it seems less like the moral is being pushed on me and more that that's what the character would do. Give it a watch, lemme know if I'm full of shit.

Actually, on watching it I realized another reason, where Adventure Time gets more and more insane as the episode goes on My Little Pony is just using the plot to interact with the already defined characteristics (AM GOING TO FAR IN DEPTH FOR KIDS SHOWS ARG). It also may be that I'd rather have a few well defined rounded and interesting characters than a dozen one-note characters.

Now what I really don't get about this whole is this. Of all the things on the internet that contian nothing but hatred, sex, and blood. People choose to get bent out of shape about ponies and the people who love them to the extent that even having a pony avatar is enough to lower their opinions about you. Did I miss something here?

See that odd thing hanging in the top right corner of the site? That's a search bar. You'll be waist-deep in My Little Pony threads if you search for it. Read the answers there.
that is possibly the greatest response EVER

Sums up my feelings. So do it today!

Stop making threads about My Little Pony when you could take the initiative of watching it yourself or asking the Usergroup. It's about as bad as zombies, list threads and god forbid another avatar one.

I'm getting fed up with with it too. I think I'm starting to hate it more than furries, which I thought no one will ever overtake on my list of things I hate. I just don't get it and I never will. Now someone will respond with a Haters Gonna Hate image.
Heh, I'm sure you don't have any valid reasons for hating furries either.

Except that wasn't the moral of that episode, the moral there was for everyone else in that episode about not trying to take advantage of a fiendship, they all thought were all competing to get that one ticket, without thinking about Twilight's feeling,to the point where you gave the tickets back. The only reason she got enough tickets for everyone is because Celestia is the world's biggest troll.

And this is where we go into the delightful part of life where people are different and take things differently. But in response: I usually don't look at the ancillary characters, even more so in the few episodes of MLP I've seen. Usually it just focuses on a single character and then puts them through their paces by putting X other ponies in the same scene.

This is like the thousandth time someones responsed to the OP without reading the thread to see where exactly the conversation has gone to. Read what you're posting into or use the quote bare minimum, plez.

EDIT: I suppose I've said what I've wanted to say about the topic. If anyone knows a particularly insane (in the vein of Adventure time) feel free to PM me a link. I always need more media to watch in these sleepless nights.

It is a show that epitomises controversy. There are those who argue that their possession of male anatomy compels them to hate it (here you will see the "it's made for eight year old girls argument), those who have watched and simply dismissed it as another children's cartoon (reasonable) and those who say that it is indeed a highly watchable and entertaing cartoon. I tend to fall on the latter part, I find it very entertaining - and yes, I am in possession of male anatomy. Watch it (first two episodes are rather dull, however) to find out how you find it.

And yes, there are a few corny musical bits. But they are somewhat limited and are mostly bearable. The characters and the likes are worth enduring such things, however (in my opinion).
You seem to be forgetting one other group of people. It's a bit odd that those who like the show often forget that some others (that have male anatomy as you put it) just didn't like it because it wasn't entertaining to them. I have nothing against kids shows, I don't go out of my way to watch them but when I have little cousins over etc I have no problem watching whatever they want to watch. I just simply don't like the pony show, it is sort of boring and the "oh its corny but in a cute way" thing I just don't get at all. Corny is corny to me always will be despite how you dress it up.
Apologies, but that was meant to be the second group I mentioned - I obviously just phrased it poorly. My post was more aimed at those who dismiss it using the "it's for little girls arguments" and nothing else. I have no issue with those who just don't find it entertaining, as that's perfectly reasonable: some people like certain things, others don't.

Watched the first 3 episodes. Do not get why people like this show its crap in my book (my opinion if you don't like it :p). To girly with its bright colors, flowers, ponies and musical numbers. To each their own I guess.

Wow, I've never had an opportunity to welcome someone to the internet before! Google [www.google.com] is over there, Youtube is over here [http://www.youtube.com/], Ebay is over there [www.ebay.com] and The Escapist is, well, here!

I'm sure you already know all that by now but it's just a bit of free advice. Type My Little Pony into the searchbar in Youtube and you'll find what you're looking for.
Hmm, maybe we should give him a amp of the internet as well. And a mission to bring package x to recpient y.

I'm relatively new to the whole internet scene, and something's been bothering me: A lot of people seem to like My Little Pony. I've only seen a few of the early 80s episodes when I was younger, when everything was covered in syrup and song-and-dance numbers. I'm going to assume that the MLP stuff I've seen online is from some sort of new series, but I still have to wonder: Why is My little Pony so popular. I might check it out myself if only someone could tell me where I can find an episode and whether or not there are horrible corny musical bits. Can someone fill me in?
Friend, come to this group:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/MLP-Friendship-is-Magic

Even if you end up hating the show, I bet you will love the community it has made.

All in all, I started out a little like you, curious, perhaps hints of apathy, but interested. I am now the proud author of three fan fictions about the show, and I'm still going.

The show, while a bit corny at times, is defiantly worth watching, regardless of your age or gender.
