It doesn't matter what you think of the seires but you must admit, it has a bunch of customization, more then most shooters.
Edit: I think some people are being mistaken and thinking this the ONLY reason, no this is one good reason. Their are many reasons, as been stated, marketing, and its fanbase but you can't deny that the customization isn't not appealing.
1. i don't have to "admit" there's lots of customisation, you can simply count the possibilities. how that makes a game a *better* game then others eludes me.
2. oh, you have no idea, how i can deny that the customisation stuff isn't not appealing (watch carefully): all that stuff you listed, that i could customize IF i wanted, doesn't matter to me - not in the slightest. yes, i do care mainly about the gameplay (wtf?! gameplay?? who needs that?? we want fancy stuff to attach to our guns and uniforms and shit!!).
thinking back to good old BF2 i can only say that i didn't give a [censored word here] about the fact that every single AT was the same afro-american dude, and that you, as an army, actually wore uniform uniforms, e.t.c. p.p. - and i wasn't the only one back then; no one cared. i still don't care. i want a good game.
how does it make a game better if i can choose between blond or brown hair?
no, sorry, it doesn't.
look, it's fine that you like all that fluff, and that you like the new CoD and all. but please allow others to have different opinions about things, ok?
and no, i'm not a CoD hater. it's not a bad game. but if i wanted to dress up my character and my possessions, i'd play, like, Gaia Online or something like that, and not an FPS. which is about gameplay. in my humble opinion.
