This reminds me of something that happened to me when I was in high school. This definitely isn't my 'why me' situation as I've had worse but I remember doing a really important math assignment that was worth quite a bit. I, too, had left it on my desk so that I could grab it in the morning. However, my dog had come in to my room and he tore the whole thing to pieces. I woke up to find slobbery and wet bits and pieces of the assignment all over my room. I packed it in a ziplock, brought it to school and prayed for the best when it came time to attempt to prove my innocence to my teacher.Yokai said:-Snippity-
Luckily for me, he was completely cool with it. I was usually a good student so he knew I wasn't trying to BS my way out of it. And if my reputation didn't convince him, the rancid dog saliva smell emanating from the ziplock bag certainly did. He gave me one more day to complete it and all was forgiven.
As for my 'why me' scenario, I think the only time I ever ask myself that is whenever I travel by plane and things go wrong. I work and live on the opposite side of Canada from where my family and closest friends live so I make the trip out there a few times a year. Every time my luggage gets lost, my flight comes in just late enough to miss my connecting one and/or I end up sitting next to the giant who takes up all the room, I get a severe bout of 'WHY ME, I JUST WANT TO GO HOME'.
