This reminds me of something that happened to me when I was in high school. This definitely isn't my 'why me' situation as I've had worse but I remember doing a really important math assignment that was worth quite a bit. I, too, had left it on my desk so that I could grab it in the morning. However, my dog had come in to my room and he tore the whole thing to pieces. I woke up to find slobbery and wet bits and pieces of the assignment all over my room. I packed it in a ziplock, brought it to school and prayed for the best when it came time to attempt to prove my innocence to my teacher.

Luckily for me, he was completely cool with it. I was usually a good student so he knew I wasn't trying to BS my way out of it. And if my reputation didn't convince him, the rancid dog saliva smell emanating from the ziplock bag certainly did. He gave me one more day to complete it and all was forgiven.

As for my 'why me' scenario, I think the only time I ever ask myself that is whenever I travel by plane and things go wrong. I work and live on the opposite side of Canada from where my family and closest friends live so I make the trip out there a few times a year. Every time my luggage gets lost, my flight comes in just late enough to miss my connecting one and/or I end up sitting next to the giant who takes up all the room, I get a severe bout of 'WHY ME, I JUST WANT TO GO HOME'.

I can't stand the FML site. It's just a bunch of sooks complaining about totally trivial and mundane things and it makes it obvious how privileged they really are (mostly).
Agreed, and at least 80% of them consist of "my girl/boyfriend won't have sex with me for X reason, FML BRO!!!"

I haven't had anything overwhelmingly bad happen to me in a while, thankfully. But pretty much any moment of my life that involves interaction with my mother is a "why me" moment. It's funny how her obvious favoritism towards my sister has lasted even to adulthood, and I am not longer the loser child.

I got diabetes.

Pretty much a 'why me' moment.

But hey, 11 years down the track and I'm still alive.

I was only eight, so I was just like 'What's going on?' What made it worse was the fact I was in hospital right before Christmas (December 23rd), but I went home on Christmas Day for a few hours, then went back.

It's been eight years and I have gotten used to it, but I still get people giving me weird looks when I do the sugar tests.
I once did an injection in Maccas. My friends couldn't stop laughing :p

Yeah I got diagnosed like a week before my birthday...I'm not trying to top your story btw :p Diabetic bros!
Try doing one at school near the lockers.
I was paranoid some dick would walk past and yell out 'HE'S DOING DRUUUUUUUUGS!"
Diabetic bros?
Try Australian diabetic bros!

Last year the company i worked as an accounts clerk for went insolvent, literally the day after i signed out of uni mid-term to work for them full-time and then a few days later my girlfriend called me and said we needed to talk in that tone of voice.

That's what this is for:

Whenever and wherever I walk, the wind is always blowing in my direction. I once turned right around and it fucking continued blowing in my face!
Look on the bright side; at least you control the wind.

Woodsey: The Wind Waker
You know for a second I didn't think that said Waker; you almost had a nasty gust coming your way.
