That would've been awesome right! Oh well, M*A*S*H was cool, but I would've been pretty damn surprised if there was a thread on here about Capt. Hawkeye. As far as what the actual post is about, we'll never see a Hawkeye movie. Just like we'll never see any other less well known comic book character get his own movie. I'm surprised they gave Thor one, and that it worked. Anyhow, excited to see what they do with The Avengers, even though they dicked Ed Norton out of being the Incredible Hulk, but oh well guess I'm not surprised with how Marvel handled that.

That sounds/looks a lot like Deadpool .

But I really don't know a whole lot about the comic book settings.

Well, they could always go the Ultimate Avengers route and make him a dwownright emo psychopath, but that would just be weird...
[sub]I don't understand the Ultimate Unsiverse, were Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver really fucking? It is stranger than a fucking manga I tell you![/sub]
Yes, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver did the Redneck Mambo.

Hawkeye could be worth a go, he has a number of trick arrows (taken from Wikipedia);

Trick arrows used by Marvel's Hawkeye include:

Acid Arrows
Adamantium Arrows (often combined with Electrical arrowhead)
Blunt Arrows
Bola Arrows
Boomerang Arrowhead (allows an arrow to return to shooter)
Cable Arrow (allowing him to swing through the air)
Electrical Arrow
Boxing Glove Arrow
Blast (Explosive) Arrow
Flare Arrow
Magnetic Arrowhead (adheres to metal surfaces; can be added to other arrows)
Magnesium Flare Arrow
Net Arrow
Putty Arrow (adheres to rough surfaces, and can stop exposed machinery)
Pym Particles Arrow (increases or decreases the size of an object or opponent)
Rocket Arrowhead (boosts range, can be added to other arrows)
Smoke Arrow
Sonic Arrow
Suction Cup Arrowhead (adheres to smooth surfaces; can be added to other arrows)
Tear Gas Arrow
Thermal (Incendiary) Arrow
Vibranium Arrow (must have supplement Magnetic, Putty, or Suction Cup arrowhead to stick to target; deadens kinetic and vibratory energies)

He might not be in a armoured suit, have an awesome hammer or turn green and smash crap, still, I wouldn't want anyone of those listed arrows in the hands of a man who can hit any target he aims at.

Who doesn't love this guy?

OT: I didn't even know he was important until I saw The Avengers trailer.

He is not as well known as the rest, the Avengers Movie will boost his profile though.

Maybe after?

I did not know he existed until I read this thread. Saw a guy with a bow in Thor and thought "Guess he's a comic book character" and that was that. Captain America is very obscure here, Hawkeye is probably close to unheard of. just doubt there's an international market for it unless they release an extremely good trailer.

Because he's an inferior rip off of Green Arrow? I mean come on, all marvel did was change the colour of his suit.

Did anyone else think of M*A*S*H when they saw the title of the thread?

He wasn't part of the original Avengers team so he has to not be part of the initial movie team and his powers have kind of been done before, by Green Arrow in SmallVille, which lots of people saw.

I know who deapool is. Hes the one they ruined in the wolverine movie and fanboys raged.

But who knows, maybe he regenerated his head and escaped.

Meh, be happy he got some kind of part at all. At this time I've yet so see any mention of Hank Pym and Wasp.

No offence but from the intial stand point, he isn't "cool" enough to have his own movie. I mean Iron Man got a suit, Hulk is a super rage being, Thor is the Norse god of thunder and Hawkeye is just a guy who use a bow and arrow.
While I guess they could make a movie about him but it people will probably complain that it's somewhat similar to Batman since Hawkeye is an ordinary guy.

Hawkeye may be cool but he's still a second tier hero in the Marvel universe. Most of said second tier heroes that got movies ended up being mediocre at best (Daredevil comes to mind). It is generally just the big name heroes that get good movies (Batman, Thor, Iron Man, etc) and half of those ended up flopping (Superman, the first Hulk, Green Lantern, etc).

If they do make a movie about an archer superhero my money would be on Green Arrow over Hawkeye anyways. Plus Green Arrow is old school compared to Hawkeye (Green Arrow came out 20 years before Hawkeye).

Currently it seems canon to ignore everything Loeb did to the Ultimates, so no none of that happened...

Hank Pym was going to be referenced in Thor, the scientist Stellan Skarsgard know, but they cut it. Edgar Wright is directing a Antman movie though, it's going to be part of the next bunch of Marvels movies along with a Runaways film.

The more I think about it, the more I wonder why Hawkeye was snuffed for Thor.

I imagine most of you would compromise and say that Thor was as little known as Hawkeye outside of the comic book world, with the only thing giving him points is the Norse Mythology (even that though, my roommate knew nothing of Norse Mythology). However, the Marvel movies have been going with the Nolan version of Batman approach of "realistic" super hero movie, each grounding their super heroes in science rather than magic.

Now, wouldn't Hawkeye be a much better fit in that? Granted, hind site allows us to see that it paid off but Thor seemed like he could have been the weak link in the movies just by how he works (it's magic!).

Maybe I just really like Hawkeye. Rambo's best parts are when he goes all stealthy with the bow and arrow, so maybe just the super sneaky solider of fortune story I see in my head has me excited when the character just isn't that exciting...

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought that. He's so crazy it's impossible to NOT love him.

Forget Hawkeye I want a damn Black Panther movie.
Well, Black Panther operates in Africa. I imagine it would be hard to get a movie set in Wakanda to appeal to an American audience.
Just like a movie set in Asgard didn't appeal to them? The basic origin of Black Panther is "African superhero who infiltrates the Avengers", so I'd imagine the film would be largely set in New York with flashback to Wakanda.
