If you're only wondering about gambling, then I can easily tell you why the gambling age is 21. When you enter a casino, you are allowed as many free drinks as you want. The more drunk you get, the more likely you are to stay and gamble.
If the gambling age is 21, then you don't have card people who come up to the bar for drinks. this makes it MUCH quicker to get drinks out to your patrons faster.

:)

If you're talking about why the drinking age is 21, then I'm clueless.

at 15 you can drive,
That is one of the most insane things I have ever heard. Do they want everyone to kill themselves? No fifteen year old I have ever known should be allowed anywhere near the driving seat of a car. I actually think the UK age (17) should be raised, as noone at that age is responsible enough.

I was questioning why the legal age was ever so low in the first place. As I said I believe seventeen to be to young, sixteen is not much of an improvement.

in Holland gambling is 18.
drinking is 16.
and driving is 18.

I feel like it fits.

since after 18 you're an adult
people drink anyway.
and driving should come at least two years after legally drinking. (I think we all know why)

I think its a great concept of letting you be able to drink before you drive 1st. That way if you were drunk for your 1st time you probably wouldnt have a car. In America you may be a better driver when at drinking age but that wont matter when you are drunk.
exactly!
Why the whole world doesn't see that I don't know.

driving is way more dangerous then drinking anyway.

You can join the army at 16 in the UK? That's crazy. That's even crazier than the U.S.'s drinking age. They wouldn't send you on active duty though, right? You'd just be some military janitor while training or something?

It's silly. I think the drinking age should be closer to 16, but at least 18. In NJ you have to be 19 for tobacco products because "OMGAD HIGHSCHOOLERS CAN SMOKE LEGALLY!?!? FIX IT!"
Two years basic training, so you will fight at an 18 minimum.

You can gamble in LA while under 21. You just can't do it in a casino. Go to a race track and you can bet on horses and play video poker all day long. The reason you can't get into a casino is because they give out free booze. So while you can legally gamble at age 18 you can't legally drink. So instead of risking contribiting to minors, you must be 21 to enter the casinos. Race tracks don't give away alcohol.
