Now, let's think about how much you spend on games. If you're a person who likes to dabble in games and will just buy a game or two with each paycheck, then owning alll consoles is a real possibility for you.
You considering buying one or two games a paycheck dabbling...? o_O

First question: How does someone who actually earns a paycheck find the time to completely play through two, or even one, game a week (or biweekly if that's your pay set-up... monthly I could understand)?

Second question: Why not gamefly?

Don't listen to these people, Vanitygirl! They-a have a no passion! Mamma Mia! They do not love videogames, they should be shunned to the casual crowd! They don't even understand the joys of out-of-control spending, they hate capitalism! Enjoy your PCs, Comrades!
Pretty sure there are people out there who have played CS and only CS for years, same could be said for DoTA, Halo, TF2, WoW etc... pretty sure that doesn't mean they are casuals just because they don't feel the need to spend excessive amounts of money on the newest games. I'd argue the opposite in fact, any moron can play through game after game and be done with them, it takes little more than lots of free time.

Mainly because apart from pursuing my gaming hobby i somehow also need to go to that scary place called work, where i sit for anywhere between 6 and 10 hours depending on day and sometimes bring another 2-4 hours of work to home.
That doesnt leave nearly enough time for playing 4 gaming systems when you add up all other things. Im happy with my PC, i wouldnt mind one of the consoles at some point just to fool around with few never-to-be-ported games but its far far away on my priorities list and dont really feel like spending ~400 bucks for a console i most likely wouldnt use too often.

The ROLLING cost of getting games and hardware (especially for the Wii, Natal and Move) is where the real cost is. Its about $60-50 a pop for each game? 3-4 new games for that Wii of yours and you would have already matched the origninal cost. And lets not forget about Xbox Live Gold...

I have PC, Xbox and PS3, not the Wii, because I really don't care about it.n Yay for Console Neutrality. Though, to use the war metaphor for the console debate, I'm kinda like the United States, (See Charlie Wilsons War then fast forward 20 years) I sell weapons to one side (PS3) and fight for the other one (Xbox).

well i have had all three at one point, my mom and dad took the wii, so now i have the 360 and a ps3, and my laptop, in which it holds games decent on it

so yes, i get to enjoy all games across all systems =]

and honestly..i dont play one more than the other. its all dead even. ill go for 2 weeks straight on the xbox playing mass effect and whatnot, then ill switch to FF or uncharted 2 on ps3 for a few weeks, then ill switch back to pc after i find new mods for kotor or see a good deal on steam.

so yes, i do own all technically, and its mighty awesome. took a long time to get it all though, and lots of work.

Because of money obviously. I would love to have all consoles and to be able to play every game that I'm interested in but being a student that's not going to happen. So basically I don't really think it's a matter of people not wanting to get all consoles... they just can't.

Yes, because I own a money tree. I also live in a fairy tale world.

Look, I've got a kid on the way, rent to cover, bills to pay, groceries to buy, retirement for which to save... and that doesn't even cover life's little (expensive) surprises.

SO I've made my choice (PS3) and I'm happy with it.
you have all that to support so you got the most expensive system?

Another console is not worth the few exclusives I would buy for it. That's why I don't. Also as the PS3 is the most expensive of the three consoles theres no way i'm forkin money over for it.

Gaming droughts? If you honestly need to buy a new game each month (or every few months for that matter), then I suggest picking up a hobby. You'll spend around the same money.
Uh... gaming is a hobby. So I guess you'd spend exactly the same money.
I was implying another hobby, but touche =P

I think this thread is a little redundant....

Is there anyone who actually by some weird principle only allows themselves to own one console?

Of course everyone would have all the consoles if they could and in fact many people do as its pretty much a necessity these days as most of the best games are exclusives for one or the other.

Even still most of the people who own both consoles are the ones doing the complaining preferring one over the other. As long as there are different products in the same market there will be all this whiny fanboy shit, hell they could make the exact same console and just call it different names and people would still say one was better....
