...when sh*t like this is allowed to fly?

Out of 4,7 million people, only 1,6 millions manage to get this simple question right.

Oh look its one of these threads again....

Simple answer? Because not having any just makes you miserable.

And that question is designed to be confusing, I dont see how people getting it wrong its so big faith destroying evil.

EDIT= On another look the OP's myopia (yay I learnt a new word today!) is so OTT this has to be a troll thread, noone is this ridiculous.

Out of all the examples you could have used, you chose THIS?

Yeah, you're right. Nobody should have faith in humanity ever.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Can we not have the exact same math thread over and over? there are at least 2 more of these stupid things. It seems like every time a new thread about this specific math problem shows up, the op gets a bit more insane about how not getting the right answer makes people horrible.

some people forget their order of operations it's no big deal, and if your biggest problem with the modern world is that people are bad at math, I envy you.

It's a bullsh*t question because it's not actually challenging a persons ability with math but rather whether the care enough to pay attention to the question and answer correctly. Had the problem been 1+1x0 = ? then you would likely still have some people answering incorrectly, but in much smaller numbers.

Your right, some people can't remember their working order when they're spending leisure time on facebook.

The world is obviously fucking doomed.

Think of it from the view of say....an Evil Mastermind. The average person may not be BRIGHT per se, but if they're not that's one less person to have to deal with in any real fashion. They may not be smart, but they have their uses. They do menial tasks that you don't have to do or worry about. Furthermore when you take over the world, they'll be most likely to just fall in line if you give them candy and a smile and don't make them pay more money to live.

Realistically you don't have to have faith in humans themselves, I think. So much as it's important to have faith in OUR POTENTIAL. The average person may be an incompetent dolt who doesn't understand the truly important things in life, but that's subjective and based on what people show you. Yes, the guy who delivers your pizza is likely a moron. This is a good possibility. But great people and great things have sprung forth from our species. We have potential. Not everyone embraces it but not everyone is fit to.

Furthermore it's a good idea to remember that the truly great people...probably don't have facebook pages. Or if they do, they don't answer bullshit questions like that. We as everyday people do not see people who are truly great simply because we're separated from them. You don't see Steve Jobs or Bill Gates walking down the street. You don't sit next to them at the coffee shop. You don't hear of their positive accomplishments because of the way the media is structured. Is it fair? Heavens no. The world needs better role-models and the best and brightest are shoved into the closet. That's a shame. But they DO exist. Our progress thus far is evidence.

So.....be depressed and angry about people if you like. I guess it's cool or something. Personally, I don't trust the people around me to do quantum physics. But I DO trust that they serve their purpose and make the world spin and allow the truly great people to push us forward.

The term 'faith in humanity' should be forever banned from the English language.
Or at least on this site.

Because people don't bother to read facebook polls properly most of the time? Because basing your opinions on the human race on their numeracy skills is fucking retarded?

Not this maths stuff again.

Eh, in any case, there's no reason to have faith in the human race. You know very well it exists. Sure, I can't disprove the idea that reality is an illusion but shut up. So there.

The question is, why should we have any faith in the human race when not being able to answer a math question is all it takes to rock a person's faith in the human race?

Perhaps they were merely trying to wind you up and the 1.6 million users just didn't get the memo?

Oh god, if we can't do this, surely the turtles will take over with their supremly advanced mathematic skills- AHAHAHAHAHAHA!
We are the most advanced beings on the Earth, the very fact that you can ponder why we should have any faith in the human race puts you FAR above any other life-form we know of.

THE VERY FACT THAT WE EVEN HAVE FACEBOOK FOR THESE POLLS DOESN'T TELL YOU ANYTHING!!!???

Look at us, look where you are!
JESUS FUCKING CHIRST!!!
We have Religion, RELIGION!

We can cure diseases, create literature, build giant structures, understand how the world works...
And you just.... you just... dismiss all of that!
Bleh.

But no, you just continue to judge an entire species over a facebook poll.
*rolls eyes*

Damn, I agree, this has gone too far. Humanity is doomed. I mean seriously, how bored do you have to be to spend your free time completing maths questions on Facebook!? Not to mention the bastard who actually created this poll and then sent it to his friends. I mean Jesus Christ, there's regular old evil and then there's subjecting people to maths evil. That's a line you just do not cross.

Odd that you should ask this as you obviously had faith in your own intelligence to come to this conclusion and you are, if I'm not mistaken, human.

I have faith in humanity because scientists in Kyoto have developed software that can read data from an fMRI and reconstruct a black and white image that shows what you're dreaming about. Following me? It is a machine that READS YOUR MIND.

Ah, it's that bloody maths question again. I can't remember the amount of times I've seen that exact one show up on this site, let alone all the other bastard equations that have shown up at various points. Not to mention the overly dramatic "Woe is me, people got this wrong! I'm going to ***** and moan on the internet about this instead of doing the decent thing and blowing my head off because I'm a complete waste of space for getting so riled up over it".
