My questions fellow escapists is why so much hate on young teenagers? Most people assume that were all high pitched and spoiled now what caused you to reach this conclusion?

I reached this conclusion because the loudest of the young teenagers are the ones that get noticed most. They also happen to be the most annoying and spoiled ones. The ordinary nice ones tend not to get noticed so we don't know much of their existence.

Also given that the young teenagers of today are part of what is known as the "Generation of Entitlement" (and some of them from beyond that) doesn't help the social skills and public perception of these individuals.

They're known for stupidity, pretentiousness, and rash actions.

And I hate being one of them.

Empirical evidence, mostly.

Because the loudest and most annoying of us (as in I am a young tennager) are the only ones that get noticed. Most of us aren't like that.

I was probably the most mature and boring young teenager around. Polite, quiet and refined. I couldn't stand everyone else, they were loud, obnoxious and stupid. I got along far better with adults, to be honest. Now that everyone my own age has matured a bit I can bear talking to them, but they can still frustrate me sometimes...

Ah well, young teenagers get all the shit because they are stupid, rash and hormone fueled. It's just natural.

Throughout history there's always been a generational gap.
Even Socrates whined about the rude kids who crossed their legs during studies.

It's just a personal bias that will always exist.
I can personally testify to this because as an 18 year old I think most of the 14-16 years olds I've met are some of the stupidest people on the planet and I struggle to keep things in perspective and have to take time to understand each individual. Sometimes I've misjudged, sometimes I haven't.
Give me a couple of years and I'll be judging myself harshly at 18 and judging all 16-18 year olds as a bunch of punks if I don't retain some perspective.

Huh. I had never thought about that.
I think it's because most kids around the ages 12-14 DO go through a phase. I went through it myself. You hit the age where you think, "Hey, I'm a teenager now. I'm COOL. I'm not a KID anymore." So you begin to think you're "hot shit," as it were. It's those awkward years at the beginning of the teen years that are the most awkward because they're the most different to the individual (typically).
So yes, I think most of us at that age WERE annoying (altho I can't fathom where "spoiled" came from; I don't see any of them that way). However, I think many overlook the important fact that almost every single one of us was just as bad. It's just a phase, and kids will outgrow it.
People focus too much on teenagers anyways.
What matters most are your actions as an adult, fully graduated from highschool and everything. Because everyone acts a little stupid in their youth.

Goshdarn, I sound philosophical today. Going off to college will do that to you, I guess.

probably cause they are loud and annoying and high pitched and spoiled. well i am a young teenager and i have been loud with my friends though i apparently have a deep voice people mistake me for my dad on occasion on the phone. this isn't helped by the fact i mumble a fair bit of the time. i don't know people tend to focus in on the most prominent and annoying parts of a demographic but, this view isn't exactly unwarranted either.

Personally, it's because I look at what a jackass I was at that age. I don't spew a lot of hate, but I'm definitely going to keep an individual's age in mind in any encounter. Sorry, guys, but as 'mature' as you think you may be at this point, you're really not. It's just that simple. When you're eighteen you'll be better, but still pretty dumb... 21, even better, but still dumb... We'll see you around 23 or so. Then, you too will be hating on the young 'uns running around like they know everything. Just remember... We may be dismissing you as ignorant and immature, but we ourselves were that way once, and underwent the same prejudices, for the same (completely valid) reasons.

The hate on teenagers is self-generated. People typically learn as they get older that it is to their benefit to respect others, and for whatever reason, it seems that the biggest age demographic for not understanding this is teenagers.

Because the mature ones are a minority. The vast majority of young teenagers, I'm guessing you're talking about people 13-15, are immature and annoying. these are the ages where kids are really selfish and think that they know more then everyone else. Now, I'm not saying I was never like this because I was and I can guarantee that the majority of people on this site were like that but it is still annoying to hear the stupid things they say.

Because my experiences growing up around them and dealing with them now are that the majority are stupid, self centered pricks.

Then there is the other group of them like me, stupid, thinks they know it all dumbasses.

Teenagers are bastards. I was a bastard, you were or are a bastard in some way.

And if by some miracle you weren't, your a gross minority.

They think they know the world, feel somehow that they've stumbled upon the truth of everything when they become emo, to be completely frank what bothers me is that their eye sight doesn't tend to focus anywhere outside their own frame of mind which is incredibly incredibly small. (Young teenagers = under 15, right?)

Probably because most young teenagers are. You're never going avoid the high-pitched voice stereotype because all young teens have it. Most are also quite immature, many of whom believe they're much more mature than they actually are.
