so while looking up some info on IMDB I came across Steven Speilberg's page,as I scrolled down I saw a section that said "In Development" and I am horrified by what I see. Transformers 3, and an Indiana Jones 5...

WHY!?
keep in mind he produces these not directs them. he may direct indiana jones but transformers will still be micheal bay
That's not a good thing. Micheal Bay is not a good director.

In theory, Indy 5 should be good:

Raiders of the Lost Ark - Good
Temple of Doom - Bad
Last Crusade - Good
Crystal Skull - Bad
Indy 5...good?
Temple of Doom bad!? I mean, the little Chinese kid was annoying, but bad!? The mining car chase? Ripping out hearts? Plus the hottest girl of the three movies? Certainly not bad on par with Crystal Skull.

yes but in alot of cases, a Producer can have more influence a movie more than the director himself, Speilberg is ALSO a director and hold a spot as exec producer, which means most likely while Bay gets the Director credit, Speilberg calls alot of the shots.

Well, "Bad" is a relative term. It's not a truly awful movie like Crystal Skull, but it just doesn't stand up in comparison to Raiders of the Lost Ark and Last Crusade, which are amazing movies. It is a half decent movie and would easily stand up against the trash released today...but it just doesn't do it for me as an Indy movie...

Not the only one, it wasn't bad it just wasn't as good as the first three and it did seem to be taking notes from a certain popular scifi series from the 90s. [http://stargate-sg1-solutions.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/jan-rubes-and-michael-shanks.jpg]

He's not directing is he? Just producing. Or is he directing?

They better not suck this time, Indy 4 essentially was a big up yours to the previous titles. And Transformers 2 had moments (like the desert) which were good, but alllll the annoying baby idiot humor ruined it...*shudders* especially the parents.

Maybe Harrison Ford will break his hip and can't finish Indy 5. After all he's like 60 or something.

Spielburg Produces many movies, but Directs many fewer. Directors make the movie come together and work, Producers forward the cash for Directors.
refer to what I said above, Producers not only forward money, but advise the director and- if needed are to step in, THEY control the movie, not the director. Producers get set footage of what is done every day, and then they dictate if its going okay or not, if they are unsatisfied the step in and say what must be done, or they will pull out. unless you are an Auteur (which Michael Bay is not) then he is getting directed by Speilberg and the other producers.

Oh, well yeah, Last Crusade and Raiders are my favorites. And I wouldn't say they were ripping it off, just borrowing

Here's what I find disturbing about the notion of Indy 5:

Indy 4 spoilers:
It is implied that Indy himself is hanging up his hat and his son will be the one to continue his adventures. This heavily alludes to the fact that an Indy 5 could very well be starring Shia LaBoeuf(sp?) as the main lead.
