If you inhabit the internet you know about Zenimax suing Mojang over the word "Scrolls"

And you've most likely heard how everyone Notch fanboy from here to the moon is going to boycott Skyrim because Bethesda is beating on the little man!

Ok, for one, Notch isn't little, stop defending him.

Second, Zenimax has all the right to sue Notch over this if they want to.

Third, No, Zenimax isn't the only one to blame, they sent him a cease and desist letter, his reaction? Post it on twitter and laugh about it.

Fourth, a article went up recently (This one: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.316261-Mojang-Offered-Up-Scrolls-Trademark-Bethsoft-Said-No)
and more butt hurt and flames were sputtered by Notch fanboys. Apparently Notch said that he was willing to change "Scrolls" to 'Scrolls: [some subtitle]' and now he's confused as to why he's getting sued still.

BECAUSE IT DOESN'T GET RID OF THE SCROLLS PART.

That's what Zenimax is peeved about, the Scrolls part, so adding a subtitle doesn't solve their problem.

Now is Zenimax guilt free? Of course not, they're being stupid about the lawsuit to, but Notch is being just as equally (if not more so by bringing the public into it) about the whole thing.

My overall point? Boycotting an awesome looking game because your overlord says hes completely innocent is just being stupid, please for the love of god use your brain.

Boycotting a game is pointless

At some point you will give in and buy the game.

Bethesda aren't bad people, their legal team are just being assholes who won't do the Quake 3 match.

I didn't even hear about the boycott until right now, and that sucks. I hope people don't hear about it. Skyrim is going to be a great game if not awesome, and Bethesda deserves the money. Minecraft is cool, I play it every update, but it's turning people into sheep. And it's the peoples fault! They did it to themselves! Gosh I wish there was a real Galt's Gulch where we could hide away from stupid people.

Their legal team never played Quake 3, they'd be at a disadvantage. See, I'm always looking out for the litte guy. Don't blame me for my pure brilliance and handsome good looks, God gave me those gifts and many more.

Why should they though? They have a legitimate concern with the name of notches game, why should they behave like 12 year olds and play a game over it?

Telling people not to boycott and telling them it's a waste of time sounds of desperation. Really, why do YOU care if someone doesn't buy Skyrim?

I will say this, if you want to boycott Bethesda/Zenimax and would have played Skyrim on a console, then just buy it used. Bethesda/Zenimax get no money from you but you still get Skyrim.

Because I want an honest company to make a profit off of their own project that they've put time and energy and love into, A novel idea supporting something I know

If you aren't boycotting then I wasn't talking to you.

Oh I see now, you are the OP. So you take it upon yourself to sell the game for Bethesda now by telling people who are boycotting it that they are wasting their time. You sound desperate and for no good reason. The game will sell fine without you trying to make others feel bad, you are wasting your time.

If you say something in a thread, where you say "Telling people not to boycott and telling them it's a waste of time sounds of desperation. Really, why do YOU care if someone doesn't buy Skyrim?" Which is pretty much directed at me and the group of people who think the same as me then I'll respond, don't like getting talked to don't post, its as simple as that

And If by the way, I am "Wasting my time" it is my time to waste, so you can either actually address my points or just keep putting up a wall of quasi-insults and rude behavior to hide your sub-par argument, either way works for me.

Yes. I realized which part of the post you were answering to now, nice lack of editing. Anyway, I answered above.

As did I, either way stop being so rude, I know you think it makes you look awesome or smart or a bad ass or whatever your aiming for but honestly It just makes you look juvenile.

I am not being rude, I am telling you that you sound desperate. Are you afraid the boycott is going to kill Skyrim's sales? You say it's a waste of time so you clearly think the boycott won't kill Skyrim's sales in which case, why make a thread about it?

It's juvenile to try and convince others that their buying decisions should be the same as yours. You want to buy Skyrim, then do so but don't tell others that their decision not to buy Skyrim is a waste.

Just so you know, I am not boycotting Skyrim but I still respect those that are because I respect people who take a stand against an increasingly greedy and abusive industry. I don't respect people who try to guilt trip others into buying something.

Aye, as both a fan of Bethesda and of Minecraft it saddens me to see a clear bias against Zenimax when really both parties are at fault in their own ways.

Way I see it, the Zenimax legal team will back down, the notion of Bethesda and anyone else linked to the suit will be dropped around hour 5 of Skyrim on day one of release and Scrolls will probably be changed to something else (why not call it A game of cards? Geddit?).

All I have to say about this lawsuit is that it plays no role in my decision to purchase Skyrim.

I look forward to playing it. Sounds like a great game to me, from everything I've heard.

I don't care if someone doesn't buy Skyrim because they honestly hate it or whatever but not buying it because its makers BOSSES believe that someone should be sued (when they should) is being stupid.

It is a waste a time because everyone gets hurt in the end, but find where I say that it wont hurt Skyrim's sales? Because it will and its a legitimate concern.

So you think it will hurt Skyrim's sales? Well, then it isn't a waste of time since that's the point of a boycott.

I don't think it will hurt Skyrim's sales but even if it does, I support consumers standing their ground.

Why do YOU care if HE cares that someone doesn't buy Skyrim!

We could do this all day!

Voting with their dollars is one of the only currencies angry consumers have. So if they want to boycott something, they can fill their booties. In all honesty though, if this is the injustice you choose to spend your time and energy fighting, then you really need to get out more. No offense to the purity of your cause, but there should be greater concerns in life than which of a collection of squabbling millionaires wins a spurious lawsuit.

Eh, just let them boycott. It's not gonna do much, plus they aren't really hurting anyone.

Look at the L4D2 boycott as an example, nearly every Steam user on the site was boycotting it but right now, it's the fourth most played game on people's Steam accounts [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/top_games], after Team Fortress 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Dead Island.

Just let them boycott it, or try and convince them to buy Saints Row 3 with their money.

I care because he made a thread about it and is trying to convince others not to boycott. I didn't make a thread encouraging people to boycott and in fact, I am not boycotting Skyrim.

I care because when gamers finally grow a fuckin' spine about something, I don't approve of others coming along and telling them it's a waste of time. Especially now that I know that the OP is actually concerned that it will hurt Skyrim's sales. If a boycott hurts sales, then it is not a waste of time.
