i was not aware Cthulhu was 'awesome' or 'bad ass'

A lot of people think he is. I think the idea is pretty cool, but he isn't an unstoppable beast like people believe he is.

For one thing even though Gotham was shitty I bet the idea of being a lawbringer never crossed him until his parents died.
Another way he is a selfish prick is how he won't kill because that would corrupt him.Last time I checked peoples lives are more important than your feelings and he KNOWS the joker is gonna make another (insert contraption thats only weakness is a batarang here) and be back next week.
Plus does anyone remember Arkham Asylum where Bats got fear gassed and forced to watch his parents death all over again?If he were really smart and as "trained" as he says he is he would get over the illusion with sheer mental power.Too bad he has none.
And don't you think it would be wise to form a team Batman because the "Im solo" thing is resulting in near DEATH.Your one guy,the cops aren't worth a scrap of paper,and your defending an entire city.

The fight against corruption is a huge subplot in the batman comics now a days. Without it, we just have another punisher.

And the mere fact batman's brain doesn't melt down the second he inhales fear gas is a testiment to his will power (And the sequences you mention are actually you playing as Batman's willpower. I'm sorry you missed the point).

And I'm guessing you haven't checked on how Batman's 'teams' usually end up. His partners tend to die/get their spines shattered.

yeah, thanks for replying to that, i couldn't be assed to say it all myself, but you hit the nail on the head there.

personally, a good un is darth vader. i mean, he still has force power, but overall gets beaten by a jedi with a lower rank than apprentice. luke had minor training, at an old age, and didn't even finish that, yet he beats vader in lightsaber combat?!

other than that though, vader is still fucking badass!

Sure, he may save the world, but he always tries to take on Ganondorf when he has the equivalent of a pointed stick and 4 hearts, even though Ganon is always 8 times bigger than he is when he does this. In Wind Waker he actually leaps off a giant cliff to try and stop a bird from kidnapping his sister.

Also:

Falco. It really pains me to say that, because he was the only one on the Starfox 64 team to be given even half of a brain cell, but he still manages to get himself into easily avoidable situations and will be killed by one uber weak fighter if you don't go shoot it for him even though he knows the maneuver to dodge and break free from a fighter giving chase. No matter how tough he is, you still have to fight off Leon for him; and even when you've fought off all of the rest of Star Wolf besides Wolf he'll still be casually cruising around in the background with the rest of the team, forcing you to basically solo the whole of Star Wolf even when at an advantage.

I know he looks cool and all, but am I wrong, or wasn't the whole point of Rorschach that he's an unstable sociopath and a right wing nut job? (In fact, his favourite magazine is basically FOX News on paper) So why do so many people love him?

That was the point, yes. It just kind of got lost on everyone because he's so grimdark and edgy.
I think his popularity speaks loudly of how much most dudes are still basically thirteen year old boys, deep down.

I say this as someone who kind of also thinks he is a badass.

That's the problem with illustrating Lovecraft's creatures. If you read about him, Cthulhu is an immortal alien god, whose existance is blasphemy against the laws of physics and whose very sight can shatter the human mind. You draw him and he's just a green squid-man-bat.

Can't think of my candidate for the "not that awesome" award. Satan maybe? If you ignore Milton's legacy and only look in the Bible, isn't the Devil basically God's lowest minion with the suckiest job?
