Why use toilette paper and not moist wipes?

Seriously where i live baby wipes are between 69 cents to 3 dollars dependig on the brand . Where as toilette paper is between 8-12 dollars .

That is pretty interesting. Is that the case with recycled paper as well? I wonder if its because of some special tax.

oh oh! I would like to answer that!

On my first 15 years of life, I lived in a house with a bidet and I never really figured it out what's its purpose. Only later in life, of course.

I believe they were made more compact nowadays. You know, that small shower next to the toilet is the modern bidet.

Bathrooms getting smaller everyday, specially in apartments, space for a full bidet is a luxury and more of an old fashioned furniture, if I may say. So there you have it. At least, that's my impression why they're so rare to find.

Now, back on topic:
Where on Earth is moist wipes cheaper than a toilet paper? Even the double layers, silk touch, bunny decorated toilet papers are cheaper than those things! At least here where I live. >.>

But seriously , i live in Quebec ( which is the french province of Canada ) and sometimes i mix up how words are written with french and english .

dude i can buy a 24 pack extra big roll fluffy kitty toilet paper for like 6 bucks if its on sale, its like 10 bucks if its not on sale. i've seen baby wipe things and for like 30 its 5 dollars. how expensive is this moms toilet paper? is it literally a kitten or a swan? or...how freakin poor is she? can she even afford to feed her damn self? chuck the baby if thats the case hahaha, no seriously.

For a first question, I have no idea.

Your second? I would and actually have.

At the moment, I'm using both. When I pee, I use toilet paper. I'm already wet down there so wiping with something else wet would just leave me all kinds of uncomfortable.

When I relieve myself of solid waste, that's when I used the moist wipes. Before that, I was actually wetting the toilet paper before I wiped myself. Don't know when that started but I felt like it helped me get all the mess easier. My mom bought wipes for herself for similar reasons and I just switched to them.

I tried it for a while before. The alchohol or whatever is on them dried out my butt real bad and I started to bleed when I would wipe. Also, the edges can be pretty sharp.

I think they're used on babies to prevent infection from spreading since a babies immune system is much weaker than an adults.

But for adults, seriously, dry wiping is the way to go. If you use water or anything it takes all the natural skin oils off your anus (I said anus in a forum post... and it wasn't as an insult) and can make you very sore.

That is my buttcheek lesson for the year.

I use toilet paper, then get it squeaky clean with Baby Wipes.

I'm a fan of white boxer shorts so its the way to be..They're not cheaper than Toilet paper here though.

I don't know what sort of strange inverted universe you come from, krazykidd, but I'm pretty sure toilet paper is almost universally cheaper. Toilet paper can't use the guilty mother angle.

My mom didn't use moist wipes on me. She says they promote rashes.

Also...Chemicals. Lots of chemicals. They have a fragrance & an unclean feel to them that makes you want to wash your hands with soap after touching them. I used to use them to get makeup off.

That's strange, for the price of a packet of wet wipes (about 50 or less) I can buy 16 toilet rolls. Toilet paper is just paper, you'd imagine it would be cheaper. It certainly is where I live.

We will wipe a childs bottom with a moist wipe , but adults use toilette paper . Why? Why don't we adults use moist wipes ?

It's unnecessary, they're usually more expensive, they may be less efficacious when taking in to consideration anal pubic hair. The reduced friction may make them less useful in the event that they are indeed cheaper.

So my question is , why do we wipe a childs bottom with moist wipes but " upgrade" to toilette paper as we get older?

I think it's more a case of downgrading as we aren't as fragile as babies. As we get older and more hardy in the pants, we require less delicate handling.

Bonus question . Would you wipe yourself with a moist wipe if necessary?

Yes, I wouldn't prefer it, but I wouldn't run away from a toilet if there was only moist wipes to use. Apparently there are people who prefer it quite a bit. I always thought it was a little too elegant for me.

well, moist towelettes don't dissolve in water.

so if you flush them you'll know very quickly why you don't use them instead of toilet paper.

Personally I think a combination is best and I keep both in toilets in my home, you can take away any..... residue? and freshen up too.

There are 3 choices really. a ubercheap toilet paper where you get like 30 wipes per 1 wipe of moistened one, or a good quality toilet paper that does not break apart instantly that gets you like 10 wipes per 1 wiper of moistened one.
moistened ones are expensive, nto sure what logic is your friend using, but it certainly isnt economical one. Then again if she already has to buy them for the baby maybe it works out for her. but it shouldnt.
Kitchen roll vs toilet paper: kitchen roll is the SAME toilet paper except the paper rolsl are cut in half and are easier to use. i them interchangeably if i run out of one without a problem. especially since i use same brand of both usually so it relaly is just more of the same.

As for the question of would i do it? sure. it probably wouldnt be pleasant, but the moist is probably slightly alcoholized so it dries quickly and they DO clean rather well and toilet paper, well, pets say it doesnt always suceed on first try.

It's a matter of quantity over quality you see, you get more cleaning for less actuall paper with wipes rather than paper. As one man, a roll lasts me about three days, while a bag of wipes lasts upwards of two weeks. By switching to wipes, I spend less money on toiletries in a year, and have cleaner rumpus as a result.

Sorry, i do not understand. how does having a roll that has say 20+ wipes is more expensinve? if you take enough rolls to last you the same amount of bag of wipes, you wil lbe cheaper off using TP. also as a singlle man myself it is beyond my understanding how does one roll last you 3 days. it lasts me a month. maybe fapping eats your TP?

I lived in Europe my whole 24 years life. I have never in my life seen a Bidet and actually had to google to find what it is. I do not understand why would you have one..... If its so bad you need to wash it, take a shower. Else TP.

Apparently, in the UK at least, the wipes are extremely bad for the sewage system. This is because they combine with grease and cause a blockage.
