Why was this thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.206968-Poll-Is-there-someone-you-would-kill?page=2#7012535] locked? I can't find any terms that it broke. It was also fairly popular, and generated some interesting discussion.
I'm afraid that on Thes Escapist killing, or even talking about it is not nice

Because discussing murder isn't cool?

Also you should ask a mod instead of creating a thread.

Edit: Also after reading some of the comments, some of those people are fucked up and the thread was locked to stop discussion of that.
How do I contact a mod?

Surely talking to people who are supposedly 'fucked up' is a much better idea than refusing to let them speak about there problems?
I think Pimppeter2 has answered that.

Mod sass: Don't do it. If you feel one of us has dealt with something poorly, send a mod a private message and we will politely respond with our rationale. If you need to contact someone about a problem with a moderator, please Private Message Kuliani.
And for talking about there problems, its not really accepting on a gaming site for some reason that what therapists are for.

Also for comments similar to this.
<quote=Some dude>YAY letz kell Micheal Bay 4 havin a sheet moviez and hez a FAG!!!

Also whilst most people would say they would kill a bad bad man (or chick) in real life presented with the opportunity would not.
I still don't know how to find a mod. Where can I find mods?

And that comment about Michael Bay is clearly ironic. And at worst, irrelevant.

Not nice? So any subjects that are deemed to be 'not nice', to some people sensibilities, are removed? Even when they don't break any official guidelines?

The official guidlines can be summed by the simple phrase "Don't be a dick". Now granted I think the moderation of this forum is pretty haphazard, and there is too much dickishness let slide here too often and sometimes a bit of dickishness is punished quite severely, but still... asking if there is someone you want to "kill" is pretty much being a dick.

It couldn't be seen as inciting people to kill. The situation was hypothetical, I wasn't actually offering amnesty...
Of course that's what it was, it was mutual reassurance that wanting to kill someone for some stupid adolescent little reason was fine and dandy. It's a repellent subject, highlights the stupidity and ignorance of our little forum thinking it's better than the others and highlights the fact that as a group we come across as weird sociopathic, pathetic, reclusive gamers! This kind of thread doesn't do gaming as a whole any good, us any good or the website any good. It dirties us all and sullies our reputation.
The original thread wasn't. Maybe the fact that the majority voted that they would kill, might have assured people that they were in the right. However, that was not the goal of the thread. It was not incitement.

So you're argument against the post is that it isn't helpful propaganda? That the escapist should banish any post that might 'sully' the good name of gamers, in order to portray a false, but positive image? That's more perverse, and scary than anything I read in the original thread.

Weird that you can't find a mod. Considering that I've provided you a link to one.

Yes, if a moderator deems it worthy of being locked. If you have a problem then send a message to Kuliani [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/kuliani].

What? 'Being a dick' could be applied to anything at all. Peoples definition of 'being a dick' is a bit haphazard, so if that is the summation of the official guidelines, then it explains the haphazard moderation.

It's also kind of worrying that people think it isn't normal to want to kill others.
We're animals, our impulses will tell us to kill when we need to, all of us.

I suppose we should all be thankful for our concrete jungles, protecting a lot of us from needing to kill.

So with little need to kill existing within the confines of concrete, your thread was essentially turned into a black hole of "I am superior, this is who I want to kill, because I was told this is the smart thing to say... I mean, because I'm smart".
You may not have intended it, but that's what happened.

When the mind talks on matters of instinct, it often sounds foolish.

Sorry, your message said they were to be contacted about a problem with a moderator, it didn't say they were a moderator. Thanks for the link.

It was a thread based around a the idea free opportunity to break the law, that's probably why it was locked, but I understand your query, why wasn't it locked sooner, rather than being given 5 pages worth of discussion?

The mods were probably sorting stuff out.

There is no law against wanting to kill someone. And there is definitely no law against discussing who you might kill in a hypothetical world.

It might not be illegal to want to kill someone, but I believe there is possibly a social stigma about discussing people you'd like to kill, even in a hypothetical sense. People use the word "hypothetical" far too much.

It's like those people that get arrested for having child porn. They might not be interested in doing things to children, but for all intents and purposes, to outsiders it looks like they are.

Because talking about people you want to kill is frowned upon in civilised internet societies?
