Why was there no vehicles in fallout 3 ?

I suppose not many vehicles survived a nucleaur holocaust and most people are too busy surviving to rebuild them. It would have been good if there was a side quest where you could build a car or a motorbike.

there was mounts in oblivion and verti-birds in fallout

Yeah if you want to get a fuckin mod for it so you can actually use those awesome verti-birds
