In the first two Viewtiful Joe games, there was always one boss in each that would just halt me in my tracks, making me unable to complete the game. The most heartbreaking thing is that all of the guides for each boss had that particular boss listed as "The most pathetically easy boss in this entire game." In VJ2, that was the Frost Tiger. I can't remember who I was stuck on in the original, though, but that Frost Tiger needs to die.

Medic + MG3 + Red Dot Sight + Body Armor = Body Rape, seriously, I once saw that type of medic annihilate 4 Assaults, no joke, and in the end he had 25% health left.

Until I could figure out how to kill them off...

In Halo 3, the levels where they threw Scarabs at you. Particularly the one where they threw two of them at you...FML.

Uhh. Probably it would be Shiro Tagachi in Guild Wars: Factions.

At his worst, he is a very resilient dude. At his best, he makes whichever highest hit in the last 10 seconds turn into his life steal. So if you hit him for 120, he begins stealing 120 life every life. Note that until recently, you couldn't prevent life steal with any spell or ability.

Oh, and when he uses that ability, he also strikes double on every attack and jumps from one person to another, jumping to next nearby foe if he hits successfully. Oh, and every attack he removes one condition or curse, so you can't permanently shut him down. Or even for more than 5 seconds.

And he has few thousand hit points. Of course, you get some wicked abilities for the mission, but only PCs get them - heroes and henchmen don't.

The last boss in gears of war. It didn't help that my AI teammate would run straight up to him and try to shoot then get killed by the krill. That boss took me at least 20 tries.
My experience with him was worse. It tooke me like 3hrs to do it(straight play). I didn't know the strat with the torque bow, so i just waited for him to send the krill out. in the end i used every single bullet/grenade i had, except for 3 rounds for my pistol. The worst part is, even though i beat him, saw the cutscene with the lightmass bomb killing the locust, i never got the achv, and it still says i have yet to beat the game. FML

Those fucking little drone planes Pasternak has flying around him. They take forever to kill because they can pull 180 degree turns in 3 nanoseconds and they swarm you with missiles from every direction.

Actually, lets throw Strigon team on that list too because they actually break Ace Combat 6's flight physics and just do whatever they want. Seriously, their planes are mid-game, yet my late game super fighters get out classed by them in everything.

Minerva from Crisis Core: FFVII was this for me until I figured out how to survive her Ultima attack.
Yiazmat from FFXII and his 50 million hp is a pretty good contender too.

Eugh, Borderlands final boss.
I quite like the game, I reckon it's fun.
But seriously... eugh
You can stand behind one of the pillars and just shoot at the tentacles. You still do damage and it can't hit you. I spent about 45 minutes shooting it with a pistol that regens ammo because I ran out of all my other ammo.

Uh, discussion value?

Bah, I'll just assume you asked "which boss gave you the most trouble?"

In which case, I'll go with the boss on the train in Uncharted 2. Despite having minimal armor, he somehow managed to survive about 30 shots to the face with an AK47. As well as several grenades dropped at his feet.
The ending boss is much worse. I shot him so many times, you think he'd just be a walking pile of bullets with some fleshy bits hanging out...
weren't you suppose to shoot that blue stuff in the level when he stood close by it?

Fighting Liquid Ocelot in Mgs4 on Big boss Hard or harder. It's a 4 stage boss fight where you have one health bar, and he can kill you in two hits if you mess it up.
Grah!

All of the optional bosses in Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. All had massive health bars, but where real easy to beat. Except for Sephiroth. 6 Invisible health bars, before getting to the ones you can see, and he can knock you down to 1hp and 1mp with a single attack. and the damn teleporting...

Boss - Boarderlands CraMex (However you spell it) The Invincible, Really?
Bah. It killed me five times. (he's called CrawMerax the Invincible) Then I wiped the floor with it. Alone.

The boss I hate the most? I dunno, I don't really remember any that made me rage. I do remember knocking out Mehrunes Dagon in Oblivion though. Good times :p

Gears of War when you get a bugged General Raam, ie. ************ is invincible. And sometimes he seems to be perma-bugged until you reset the console and play the level again. I once spent half an hour running around that last train carriage, dodging krill and his minigun, eventually running out of ammo and trying to chainsaw him. Yeah, it didn't work.
Wait, Raam isn't supposed to take all of your ammo to beat? I went through a full torque bow, sniper rifle, and pistol. It was my last grenade that killed him.

Adam the Clown from Dead Rising was..............not fun *grinds teeth*.

Darth Malak in KoToR also is not a walk in the park.
