I go because I like learning.
Who am I kidding, I go to see my friends, get out of the house and stop my parents bitching at me.

I do like some of the subjects I take, like psychology because I personally find it interesting, I may not like all the people in my class but I can live with that.

Besides there are only so many things you can do without an education.
I also get bored easily, school gives it some variety, I meet people with different personalities which I can base characters in my stories on.
In other words, school is like character research to me, with the bonus of learning how not to create a crap peice of unrealistic fiction.

I attend classes for three reason. First, because it will aid in future endeavors. Second, because I'm fascinated by a wide variety of things and I legitimately enjoy most of my time in class. Third, because I paid a great deal of money for the privledge to occupy space in a classroom and I'm not going to let it go to waste.

Sure, some people consider education a privilege and all that as well as think that anyone not paying attention or what have you in school didn't deserve the knowledge they'd receive otherwise.

But really, I guess it depends on whether you're actually learning something while being "Educated".

As you might tell from that statement, my schools were all terrible ('cept for my lower school, I learnt a fuck-tonne in those years, more then is meant for age apparently)

But of course, when I left lower school my school career went downhill, surprisingly through no fault of my own.

My teachers were gradually replaced with inept "Supply teachers" some of which didn't even speak my language(BASIC ENGLISH). After a while several of them had such a flimsy grasp of the material they taught that I couldn't even begin to force myself to be interested and resigned myself to filling the hour with sketching crap in my books...
A lot of the "Teachers" just accepted this and let me do it...

When I left school I was left under-qualified because I'd honestly not be taught anything.

So I spent years teaching MYSELF everything I'd need to even manage to apply for a college course, since I've completed my college course, I'm so much better off, I have the equivalent of 5 GCSE's under my belt now, which is better than the solid ONE I left school with.
And to top it off, I have some much needed experience in the media industry.

All because I wanted to gain these things.

Did my school help me?

NO.

3. I learn things occasionally
5. I'm good at math and I like to flaunt that.
Why'd you skip four? Is that a joke about math or something?

there were some parts of school i really hated, like everyone else. i had trouble with friends for a lot of it too, which certainly didn't help matters. but towards the end i went for certain subjects that i loved/wanted to do really well in. during the better times i genuinely looked forward to seeing everybody there too.

School is great. The work can suck sometimes, but if you're studying something you're actually interesting, it's an enjoyable and rewarding experience in and of itself. I love what I study.

I go to school so I can get a certificate of "you survived twelve years of crap, now go pay for some education and maybe you'll get a job good enough to pay off your student load for the rest of your life."

Also, Computer Science is pretty cool.

Because otherwise you have to work 40-50 hours a week and only get 25 vacation days a year.
seriously enjoy it while it lasts and make it last as long as possible because after its over you enter the working world and it is SHIT with a capital FUCKING.
The way I remember school is I went there for a couple of hours a day (between 3 and 6) and then could do whatever I wanted, god I miss that now I sit in an office 8 hours a day with people I hate and have nothing in common with and the only bright spot of my day is lunch time when I get to go outside and have smoke with the girls from reception.

Ok, seriously? I can only think of a few people who actually go to school because they WANT to do work and WANT to take tests. Me personally, the only reason I EVER want to go to school is to see my friends. What about you?

OK, thet me get something straight, if one of your reasons is to get a job and make a living, dont put it because thats what everyone says. I know it is true, and it is a good reason, but everyone says that.

So from now on everyone has the reason: To make a living and get a good job.

Learning brings joy once you realize its merits to your life. When you are forced to do it up till you graduate highschool, its a hinderance because the information is useless to you. One day you might find your niche and desire to understand certian things in life, or master a skill that would strengthen the qualities that make you unique. And that goes with the freedom to choose to do something YOU find enjoyable rather than have to take many obscure classes when all you wish to do is have fun, socialize and learn what makes you unique.

I personally learned I have a strong ability to put together information I percieve, super impose that information onto other events to learn how they work, and then articulate this to others. I learn better through politics, philosophy, and sociology. I have learned how to understand them and enjoy learning about them...and theirfor have taken coarses in secondary (even upgrading for the fun of it) to help me scratch the desire to fill that information hunger...and this is a hobby for me. My profession is Full time Electrician and Military (reserve unit...part time).

You'll probably figure out something about yourself aswell one day...but it comes with time, experiance and maturity. The trick is to find a profession that scratches your desire to learn AND makes you money. I have not.

Good luck.
