It's been out for a few weeks and you're calling it a cult classic? Hmmmm.

Also, I haven't played it, and it looks like a cool game, but it seems to me that it would get boring after a few weeks of killing the fuck out of everyone/thing

Yeah man, like everyone else said, lots of people are buying and playing it. I am and my brother is. We got two copies so we could play co-op.

As for my experience with it - it's a good game. It plays well. I'm just worried about how long it lasts. The story is next to non-existant and the different characters don't really play all that differently. Sure they have different abilities, but you don't need to use your abilities all that much and any character can become proficient with any type of weapon.

Still, I've had a fun time so far and I really don't think it has fallen below the radar in any way shape or form. I think it's a raging success, and I'm happy for it, because it is a solid game. I don't think it will rock anyones socks off, but you could do a lot worse in terms of games.

I rented it but I wouldn't buy it.

Not that interested. If it comes down to the sub £20 range then I'll consider it.
Just wondering, how long did you rent it for? It is not really the type of game that you can get the most out of in a one night release.

When it comes to RPG-esque games, I tend to use the tried and true "borrow from a friend" method. That way I don't have to pay late fees I end up playing them for over 50 hours :D

Okay, I stopped reading at the word "whores" because, well, I'm now officially convinced. Now, if only I had money.... and a working controller....

*cries*

"in search of a vault of money, tech and whores." great quote by the way.

Whores?

And here I thought that Lilith was searching for more Sirens, and Mordecai was after a dude named Yujinny, and Brick was looking for his sister.

Don't tell me that they're all whores!
Most of the people who describe the vault say whne you find it you'll receive "Weapons, richs, and women".
Spoiler for the ending.
Did anyone else feel ripped off by the ending?
It's a box on the planet Pandora. Just sayin' ;)

It's underrated here. Out of 22 students studying video games, TWO of us got it. Our lecturer has an excuse and is going to get it at a later date, but the students? Damn, man! TWO!

We have no idea what the other twenty did in the Reading Week after it came out.
Barely get by on tuition and have to wait for games to go down in price to buy them? Just a guess.

I love it because it really does invoke the same feelings I had while playing Diablo in junior high all those years ago. Diablo had the same thing going for it. The story was "evil guy wants to fuck you and everything else you love." Borderlands gives you the same basic, rudimentary motivation but it at least prefaces your loot whoring with a story driven by greed. The story def. could have been a lot more fleshed out (i.e. character background - who the fuck is that woman), though, and for as much as Mikey Nuemann pushes his story-telling ability it falls extremely short on this one. But this game is all about co-op with your friends and it delivers!

Also, I could do with some more multi-stage boss fights. It would have been cool if the Krom fight was the turret part + a one-on-one. One of my old college buddies was working on that game and was telling that it's based off of the old 80's American Gladiators. Pretty cool.

Will get it in a couple months I guess - almost never pay release price for games and am kinda busy with Fallout 3 game of the year edition (including all the DLC...freakin bargain). But it looks OK and while graphics never sell a game for me, it does look interesting and I am all for that.

The one thing that kinda put me off today was reading about how great the multiplayer is...because I don't really do that anymore.
