I am looking for new games to play on my wii. Besides the obvious contenders, what are maybe some unheard of titles worth checking out?

I assume by "Ussual titles" you mean the First Party Nintendo games, plus maybe Resident Evil 4, No More Heroes, and Zach and Wickey right? Besides those, I would suggest Okami (though the PS2 versian is slightly better since it is easier to use the paint brush) and... ummm... I will have to think about this one.

Sin & Punishment: Star Successor* is perfect if you're looking for an adrenaline rush kind of game. Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom is a top-notch 2D fighter, and the No More Heroes games are like catnip if you're the right person (you could just as easily end up hating them, though.) The Trauma Center games (Second Opinion, New Blood, and Trauma Team) are also good if you're into that kind of game. If you're looking into downloadable games, then Cave Story is a good place to start.

[small]*This is called Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Skies if you live in Europe.[/small]

I picked up Monster Hunter Tri by recommendation from both VanityGirl and LeonLethality, and I've had a blast ever since. It's a little like Demon's Souls in the sense that it goes by the motto "preparation wins the battle," but the learning curve is relatively tame for the first few hours, so you really shouldn't have many issues if you're unfamiliar with that type of game.

Another title worth checking out would be No More Heroes. It's essentially a satire of Western culture with some of the most entertaining combat I've seen on the Wii. Highly recommended.

Finally, Okami is a must if you haven't gotten it already.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex! (Joking)

I've spend more money on the virtual console then on the discs.

Yes we should end the thread based on your singular suggestion, I'm sure he didn't want to hear more than one option anyway.

OT: Zack and Wiki along with Super Paper Mario are still two of my favorites on the system, despite their age.

Oh, and I hear Okami is worth a look as well. ;)

Try the game "Depressing Ebay Sellback" It's a game where you go on Ebay, and sell the Wii for a fraction of the price you bought it for.

I'm kidding (although I seriously haven't used my Wii in two years)

Super Paper Mario was alright, it just wasn't my style, I preferred the original Paper Mario's, but it's worth a try

Is this a trick question? Maybe a joke? There are no "hidden gems" for the Wii. All titles except the 1st party games are shovelware and the 1st party titles are just recycled ideas.

Super Paper Mario and MadWorld.

Both are quite fun. :)
Super Paper Mario? I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about. The Paper Mario series ended after Thousand Year Door. That game does not exist, so please remove it. And never speak of it again.

I found Wario Ware to be quite fun, as well as Raving Rabbids.

It exists, it just isn't part of the "Mario RPG" series. It's part of the Mario platformers though.

Also, Paper Mario 3DS is coming soon. Get ready for it.

Yeah, I know it exists, but it was such a disgrace to the other two Paper Mario games that I choose to believe it was never made. Like, the first two were charming, witty, funny, inventive, and generally kicked ass. Super Paper Mario is just another bland, cookie cutter Mario Platformer, which was a huge disappointment to me.
And I would be looking forward to Paper Mario 3DS, but I have no desire to spend $200+ on a new DS when I have a perfectly fine DS Lite (Well, the touch screen has a dead pixel and the power switch is jammed a bit, but it still works). Fucking 3D gimmick.

Why not sell your DSL and use the money to buy a 3DS? It's probably not gonna be above 200$, and if it is, most likely only just. This IS Nintendo we're talking about, half the reason their consoles sell is because their the cheapest one on the market. At least from all the Wii bashing I keep hearing.

It's not just another DS, it's a completely new line of handhelds with upgraded graphics and new control inputs.

Back on-topic: Yeah, Monster Hunter Tri's another great recommendation, although I don't know if it fits your criteria of "obvious contenders" or not.
