I'm not one to make posts, I like to think I can figure out most people without asking them their motives, but this issue is getting hard to ignore.

In the light of the Conduit Zero Punctuation review, I can't help but notice a lot of hate towards the Wii, especially when there isn't some hardcore Nintendo-produced game coming out. You know what? My favourite games right now are Brawl, HL2 (I'm on Episode 1 right now) Resort and TF2. I've got a modest gaming PC right now as well as a Wii, and I genuinely can't decide which I prefer. A lot of people don't seem to realise that just because a game's shallow doesn't make it bad, I love WarioWare too, but there seems to be this conjecture that all Wii games are wagglefests, which may well be true for an uncomfortably large portion, it's still a bit prejudiced.
I'm not going to ask that everyone regurgitate their favourite/most 'mature' Wii games (although I won't stop you), I'm saying just give Mario Kart a chance. Or at the very least, just calm down, the Wii is not bringing about the end of gaming, just changing it, no-ones going to take your old games away from you.
Yet.

I enjoy some Wii games, but I largely ignore it now unless I'm playing mario-kart at a friends house. Generally though, when it comes to shooters, rts's, MMOs and plenty of others, I have to go back to my pc.

I agree, when all 3 exist, they should just stick to their respective markets. Yes , the Wii tends to target the young and old, the 360 and ps3 get more of the middle demographic. who cares?! Yea the 360 and ps3 are more hardcore, but it doesn't make the fun games for the Wii and LESS fun. I own all 3, and each system has things i love and hate about it.

out of those four, which one do you prefer the most?resort you probably bought for the motion+ and brawl, regardless of reviews,is one of the few good games due to the fact it is not a collection of mini-games,so,what is your favourite game for gameplay?

It represents a trend toward more casual gaming and away from the variety of games that most of us grew up playing that were genuinely fun and engaging. The more recent titles are boring and present no challenge whatsoever. There are 2 generations of gamers that are adults now and we can't help but feel like we're getting pushed aside by easy playability and watered-down gaming experiences.

The Wii does have a few legitimatly good games, but ever since the Gamecube (or possibly the SNES) Nintendo has been labled as a kiddy console. A stereotype which has lead to a lot of underserved criticism.

Judging a game should be done by what the game is, not whether one likes it or not. I love my Wii, but I agree that Nintendo is... they're being stupid right now. See Nintendo Pony ride thing.

They seem to not realize who wants their games. The people that get Nintendo games merely get them as a past time now. Whereas we, the fans, have been abandoned.

I don't like Nintendo and what it's doing, but I like the Wii, because a video game system is as strong as its strongest players, not its weakest.

But it needs a few more to play in the big leagues.

I own a wii and i love it!
but if it wasnt for my xbox I would go bloody insane...I had just the wii for a while and though its an amazing little console the sheer amount of stupid casual games for it is mind boggling, for every no more heroes and madworld there's 50 CARNIVAL PARTYs and WII SPORTS RESORT ¬¬ its just plain annoying. Most of us grew up with such amazing games such as starfox and mario etc. with less graphic capabilities but nevertheless amazing gameplay, just seems a shame to let it all go to waste for casual gaming.

I suspect this thread will get locked soon, so I'll just sum things up into a couple of points:

1. Some people don't like the Wii. Fine.

2. Some people don't like the PS3. That's fine too.

3. Some people don't like Xbox360. No problem.

4. Just because Yahtzee doesn't like the Wii doesn't mean anything. That's his opinion, and frankly who cares. His videos are funny and interesting, but ultimately it doesn't matter what he thinks.

5. Can we all just get past this console war crap and grow the f**k up, please?

I got the wii and haven't touched it in....2 years?

It just seemed to get old after a while. Not saying it's bad but I just needed to move on to other, newer and better games

You left out the biggest beast, the PC it's really the all in one, there is nothing any of the consoles can do that a good pc can't. Granted you do pay for that ability, sometimes quite a lot. However, by purchasing a console I still believe you are limiting yourself. I even say this owning all 3 of the above mentioned. Not a single one of them gets as much play as my PC. The xbox probably comes closest but I generally just stick to racing games on it.

I really wonder where this argument will wind up when the next generation of consoles are released, and surprise they are just PC's with slightly reduced features, this can actually already be said for both the xbox and the ps3.

There's nothing wrong with the state of Wii gaming, it's just that the Wii version of any multi-platform title is inevitably the 'poor man's version' you should only purchase if you don't own anything else, and the exclusives tend to be gimmicky waggle-fests. Obviously there's a market for it, as Nintendo are making money hand over fist off of the Wii, but as a PC gamer that can at least see the merit in possibly owning a 360 or PS3, the Wii has precisely nothing I want.

I get the feeling more PC users are understanding of the role Wii can play in their gaming repertoire. Sure it doesn't do everything well, but it is certainly better than adding an Xbox 360 or PS3 to your hardware collection just for action/adventure and sports (though PC racing fans will never use console if they own a good wheel)....so mostly just action and sports games are the ones worth playing on console. Wii picks up and makes all that stuff more fun....and the graphics on all those other boxes are weaker than PC too...so it is really about controls for us then.

I like the Wii, the game I'm most looking foward to besides Modern Warfare 2 is Muramasa: The Demon Blade for it.

Honestly, I'd have to say TF2 because of the brilliant online play (something I'll agree the Wii really needs to consider), but for me, local multiplayer always wins, so Mario Kart has the upper hand there. Unfortunately, 4-player sessions are not easy to come by for me (I have no friends.), so TF2 holds my 'most consistently fun' award.
Gun to my head, I'd have to say Team Fortress 2.

I'm by no means trying to say the Wii is best, just it's undeserving of all the hate I see, as if it's actually done some sort of disservice to everyone.
Or maybe I'm just being naïve.

I have played ps3, 360 and wii quite extensively, and I must say the wii simply can't measure up to the other 2 consoles. The lack of processing power and (I have to say it) godawful controller prevent it from being...good. There were some incredibly fun games like super mario galaxy and metroid prime 3, but other than that it's a sea of kiddie games and bright colours. Too bad.

I like the wii it's nice and fun when I want to mess about with games and sometimes when I want a challenging game.

The only time I use my Wii is when my 55-year-old in-laws come over and want to bowl. That's about how useful the Wii is as far as gaming is concernted.

Okay, that might have been a slight exaggeration, but "only a little bit, that's the messed up part"
