This thread is starting to look more and more like youtube comments :/.

Haven't really followed the Wii, neither will I follow the WiiU.

Better Hardware does NOT ONLY mean better graphics... It means better AI for example. Or it could means that all the "epic battles" you would see in cutscenes actually happen in real life... It means Battlefield with 64 players on consoles :p.

Do I think the WiiU will quickly be outdated in hardware ? Yes

Do I think it will flop ? Not sure, because like Vault101 said, i'm not sure who this console is for. But it will have a head start. Even if most of the games for it are already out for other consoles now...

yeah..personally I dont really see who this console is for
This.

It's like they want the hardcore crowd to return back to the system while not forgetting the Wii fanbase. As such, we have a console that 'feels' unsatisfactory for both.

Personally, I'd be very interested if the controller could be used for portable gaming like a true tablet. As is, the console doesn't peak my interest yet.

Everyone is saying that when the PS3/NextBox comes out, they're going to "blow the WiiU out of the water".

But let's just take a minute of assumptions here:
1: Let's assume the WiiU is maybe a year or two behind the latest PC specs
2: Let's assume the PS4/NextBox will have the top of the line stuff
3: Let's just make the assumption the new systems will just be the old ones with a graphics update.
4: Now let's ignore the price, even though it'd be very clear the other two systems would be more expensive than the WiiU.

How much of a difference do you REALLY think there is going to be? Everyone here seems to be assuming that once the next systems come out, it'll be a repeat of the Wii/360/PS3 generation, but the fact is the gap in technology is going to be a lot smaller this time.

Now am I saying the WiiU will be successful? I don't know. Will it be as sucessful as the Wii? Probably not. Do I want it to be? Yes. Nintendo seems to have learned there lesson from this gen and are trying to fix the problems, which is more than I can say about Sony or Microsoft. But Sony and Microsoft also have another issue. Nintendo had plenty of reason to make a new console. What reasons do they have?

Depends. If they stick to family friendly games like they did with the Wii, it'll make a fortune.

But if they really think they're gonna compete with the new Consoles by trying to copy the big boys with their new games, than yes, it's going to flop.

I think they're going to be able to keep up with the modern releases for two years, before the games become to graphically intense for the WiiU to handle.

Why as "a consumer" do you care about either?

Install base. With a normal system (not the Wii) the more sales = more games.

These are the things I am looking forward to with the new generation.

AI, physics and more things in general happening at one time.
Yeah, me too. I think I'll pass the next generation for now though, and buy myself a new pc.

The one I have now is like 8 years old :p, I bought the xbox360 when it came out and at first it was great and I still play it, but there are some games i wish i could run on PC. I'll probably buy next gen for the exlusives after a while though.

I have a good gaming PC anyway.

The problem is that games won't advance that much until new consoles come as they are all designed to work on current generation systems. No one is going to design a complex physics system then have it only work on 1 platform.
Didn't think about that. Do you reckon I should wait for the new consoles to come out to upgrade my pc ?

The WiiU will sell big if the following game series come out on it in the next 2 years:
A new Metroid game
A new Zelda game
A new adventure/platformer Mario and not some 2d side scroller
A Pokemon Game that is Compatable with the 3Ds

The wiiU will never be the favorite console but it will a heavy hitter. And since the graphics are just a little above current gen, it will last until the ps4 comes out because developers are going to need time to catch up with the next gen graphics and processors. Also if they have a serious surge when it comes to indie gaming library then we will have a hit on our hands.

I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the Wii U as a competitor, just because of it's processing power.

Nintendo never created state of the art consoles and it has always worked for them so far.
The wii is considered last gen, technology wise and it's by far the best selling console of the 3.
The gamecube was no match for the ps2 and the xbox.
The N64 had to make do with big jagged piramids for 3D characters and we had superior voodoo gfx to compare it to.

Nintendo is likely to sell many consoles, because of their brand name, reputation and lower pricing.

Your third point is incorrect.

The gamecube was more powerful than the PS2. The Wii is the first time they went for cheap hardware, they usually went for powerful consoles.

EDIT 4444 posts, fuck yeah
How do you reckon a gamecube is in any way faster than a PS2? The GC has a slower CPU, a slower GPU, slower memory.
Do you think it's because it has only a little more memory (and additional 16mb of very slow DRAM)?

Give this man a fucking medal. I watched that Gun video and my fucking god, it looks like something like MGS3, and that looked a bit better. Then just look at stuff like RDR, La Noire, Battlefield 3 and Skyrim to see how much graphics have improved. People are just seeing that Nintendo aren't being stupid and putting dual 560s, an 8 core processor and more and thinking "It's gonna be outdated!"
