It will be affected in the short term. But it will be back in full force in time. Of that I have no doubt.

I think they have bigger issues to deal with than Cartoons. Their auto and tech industries are going to be hit hardest.

Defiantly yes. Even though I'm an anime fan but I foresee it will be a while till they continue back as normal (by all mean continuing the anime and Manga is a low priority at the movement). Right now the whole radiation problem is my main concern.

Are you fucking kidding me? You're worried about fucking mangas and animes of all things? Sorry, but my opinion is: "I DON'T GIVE A SHIT". I give a shit about the crisis in Japan, but I don't give a shit about such pointless things (in comparison to others, like the food shortages and Nuclear Plant crap).

Now I like manga and anime, but how can one even be worried about such a thing now? It even seems rude to me.
you've said what i was gonna say as well.

Ever since the disaster over in Japan, a few things have been bugging me. With the death and destruction over in Japan, I keep thinking about what has happened to people like Kiyohiko Azuma and Hiromu Arakawa. IF they are still alive, how will this disaster affect their jobs? Will the anime and manga industries be affected or even placed on standstill by these tsunamis, earthquakes, and nuclear meltdowns?

What do you guys think?
I like the way you made somthing sad and terrible and turned it into a lighthearted question. I'm not sure about the anime and manga companies i hope they weren't affected. If they were affected it won't be for long. The Japanese will rebuild extreamly fast. They will find a way to keep publishing manga if they were affected.

On a different topic of the same topic i was told that the original game designer of pokemon was one of the many found dead. When i was told that there was a girl sitting with us that said good and that she hates pokemon. At that moment i don't think i felt so much anger towards some one. If it were a guy i would beaten him up although knowing me i throw one punch then get beaten up but i always stick to morrals to never hit women so i walked away.

If you are seriously worry about this right now i hope you drown the next time your at the beach.
And this time it has nothing to do with my dislike to all that is weabo, it just doesnt matter at the moment what the entertainment industry will be like afterwards, while everything is still destroyed and by far not the last body has been found

Anime and manga is cool 'n all, but I'm more worried about that possible nuclear meltdown that Japan is facing along with the thousands of deaths and the 150 billion dollars in damages.

Of course, they are going to be affected, how could they not be? I'm more concerned with the relief effort than anything right now though.

Far from me to say it (I think someone else has mentioned it, actually), but I think the Japanese economy has bigger fish to fry than anime & manga (even though I like the media).

Let's not forget that a certain portion of the country has neither power... nor much that would need the power any more, so anime is probably the last of their problems right now.

Having said that:

This was an anime that was produced a couple of years ago that I found difficult to watch but considered brilliant anyway.

WTF is with these comments!?
Who the fuck cares about some artists? Let them drown, we have much bigger problems to attend to, such as capitalism.
I kinda get where you people are going with this, but woah...

Yes, God forbid anything bad should happen as a result of this disaster.

I know that's not what you meant but it does come off as slightly unsympathetic.
Hah! I kinda thought that too.. But you know us gamers.. We walk hand in hand with Japanese cartoons apparently....
Unless the Big Wave took down every single head office like that I shouldn't see why the talented working people of Japan would completely stop doing what they do best for an unforseeable future. Give them time to handle their losses but dont offend anyone else with your fears about cartoons any more ok.
Unless they do 'an America' on us and stop the production of anything exploding because it might make a few people cry about 9/11 if thats what you're worried about.

Immediately after hearing of the disaster:

"Nooooooooo, my Yugiohs. ;A;"

I'm a terrible person, yes.

I'm wondering why all of a sudden that PC components have jumped up in price all of a sudden. Related?
No. Most manufacturers are located in the US, South Korea, or third world countries.

To my knowledge, Japan is not a large producer of standardized PC hardware.

I know for a fact that the high quality capacitors for many computer components are manufactured in Japan, though you're probably right that there's no cause for shortages that would affect the entire industry.

A lot of you seem to have the impression that I'm more worried about manga and anime than I am about the lives of millions of people. I'm sorry if I gave off that impression, but that's not how I feel at all. I am saddened by how many people have died, and I do hope the country recovers. I'm just trying to make a topic worth discussing.

If you are worried about their livelihood, you shouldn't have limited the discussion to anime. There are too many people out there who care more for what they perceive to be the finest Japan has, and ignore the rest.

A better discussion topic would have been to talk about how the Japanese industries as a whole are going to be affected. The country relies heavily on exports, and without the means to produce or ship everything they make, the country's economy could collapse.
