While I'm as much of an anime fan as the next guy, their auto industry is probably in bigger trouble. There's less physical resources to get destroyed with animation than with manufacturing.

Besides, I've always imagined anime studios as more in-land for some reason, though I'm no expert on Japanese geography.

I was more concerned about how their economy as a whole was going to recover, what with all the damage to the east coast, the oil refinery catching fire, that whole mess with the nuclear reactor and of course, the hendreds possibly thousands of deaths.

Japan has a bit more to worry about than if it gets it's cartoons on time.
Considering how Hiroshima and Nagasaki look now I have a strong feeling that those cities will all be mind bogglingly beautiful when they are done rebuilding.

They'll have memorials that will bring you to tears and the country itself will move along and prosper.

I have a lot of respect for Japan and would be shocked if this slows them a bit. Few countries are more tightly united than that one. Which might explain why they haven't gone on a psychotic looting spree and the companies there actually respond with a heart instead of cackling wildly as they watch people starve.

Ok I admit that last line is hyperbole but I doubt any vendor in the US would have handed out food to people stranded during Katrina.

Now to Mr. Troll. The Asian auto industry does not succeed because they work hard and produce quality products, the succeed because they cut corners and exploit workers for pennies a day, all while in work conditions that would make Auschwitz look like daycare.

And i also never said anything about people dieing, only seeing some good in a few empty buildings being washed away.
Pot and Kettle Situation Here.

Also you blow my Hyperbole out of the water. Kudos.

Just as an important notice. Everyone who has posted or read anything from these posts did so why? Because you searched it in the search bar. You typed "will the earthquake in Japan effect anime?" or something to that effect. Since you typed that or something similar you had thus wanted to know if it did effect anime or such. No one who posted or read these posts can say that they didn't care to know, or didn't want to know because you made the search, so no more putting people down and saying "why would you ask such a stupid question, that is offensive!!!???" when you know good and well you searched the same question they did. The only exception is if you purposely typed it in the search just to put down people for being concerned about anime. So the real heartless people would thus be those aiming for that approach.

Ever since the disaster over in Japan, a few things have been bugging me. With the death and destruction over in Japan, I keep thinking about what has happened to people like Kiyohiko Azuma and Hiromu Arakawa. IF they are still alive, how will this disaster affect their jobs? Will the anime and manga industries be affected or even placed on standstill by these tsunamis, earthquakes, and nuclear meltdowns?

What do you guys think?

I'm wondering why all of a sudden that PC components have jumped up in price all of a sudden. Related?
No. Most manufacturers are located in the US, South Korea, or third world countries.

To my knowledge, Japan is not a large producer of standardized PC hardware.
But companies in Japan would need to get replacements for items lost so.... maybe?

I'm also a huge fan of japanese anime and manga. But I'm not really concerned about the next releases and stuff, but much more concerned about the safety of the japanese people. But for me the anime and manga those people produced reflect their gentle souls, their kind nature and their positive attitude towards life that I've been always looking up to. That's why I just wish there wouldn't be any more deaths, that's my biggest wish. That's why I've come to consider all those people like most precious friends, that's why I'm deeply hurt and affected by all that's happening, it's like I can feel the suffering they go through. I think that most of the people that were introduced to that country through these "entertainments" feel the same way, as we feel really close to them.So many times did I watch a jap series, like Lucky Star for instance, and said to myself "gosh, those characters express the same thoughts that I have or say the things I always thought to myself", after answering others what they thought about the same idea,I realized they didn't have the same ideology that I've had and those characters had, that made me realize the closeness I've had with this country, but anime and manga do not produce themselves, japanese people produce them, that's why even if I like what they produced, it's of little concern to me at the moment, what I'm concerned about is the safety and well-being of the people that live there, all the japanese people not only mangakas even if I am deeply concerned about them, my first thought I guess, had been "my god they have to escape and come back when the situation would get better". And also I've got the impression that those people helped me out so many times through anime and mangas and dramas when I was sad or feeling down, they always made me smile again, and now I can't really help them or put an end to their crisis.

I think that most of the people that were introduced to that country through these "entertainments" feel the same way, as we feel really close to them. Through anime we all became best friends in a sense, a friendship that transcends usual friendship but for me at least even stronger than what I?ve known in real life. So many times did I watch a jap series, like Lucky Star for instance, and said to myself "gosh, those characters express the same thoughts that I have or say the things I always thought to myself", after answering others what they thought about the same idea, I realized they didn't have the same ideology that I've had and those characters had, that made me realize the closeness I've had with this country, but anime and manga do not produce themselves, Japanese people produce them, that?s why even if I like what they?ve produced my first concern is for the people who live there, all the Japanese people, not just the mangaka even if I do worry about them a great deal. Another thing I feel sorry about is that every time I felt down or sad, the anime I watched always made me smile again, and now that those people suffer I cannot do anything to prevent the tragedies, even though they always helped me when I was down, I?m sure a lot of anime/manga/drama fans think the same. We?ll all pray for the Japanese people?s safety, their well-being and recovery.

well people men and women are trying to survive for one thing if they are outside long enough they could get cancer so how are they gonna get to work 2 um people need to fix the plant 3 people need to fix there homes and stuff and get out of those shelters so yeah and if anime and manga writers are even alive they probably are worried about there house they probably do draw but its not published cause they need to send it and its gonna be hard cause of the nuclear failure earthquake and tsunami i am worried as you but japan has made millions of good or bad animes there are millions of them already just watch those and update on the news to see if things are getting better people say in japan it might take about 50 years or more for them to get back on track but yeah i guess that should be one little concern but your most concerns should be how the people are doing and if children are okay but i get you
