With the Sopa, Pipa and Acta Bills trying to be the Beginning of the End of the Information Age i'm beginning to wonder what the Content Mafia would do when People get scared of them.
With the aforementioned Bills it would have been possible that People could get themselves into legal Trouble without realizing it. When making a Youtube Video where you use a Backgroundmusic that is protected by Copyright Laws for Example. Stranger Things have happened.
With those Bills, it would have been a legal grey Area to even discuss protected Content on the Internet.
If the People in general start to see this Content as something of a hot Issue, as something you can't just buy and then do whatever you want with it, some People, like for example me, will start looking for unprotected Content to consume. Maybe i'll get more classical Music. Old Movies, Books or something. Free Stuff that isn't protected.
Instead of buying a new Game, i'll see if there's some new Mods for the Games i already own.
I will continue to buy new Games on release Day. But maybe i'll buy a little less new Games. I've already given up on new Movies, i watch them eventually, but i wont buy an overpriced Movie Ticket and then watch Advertisements for half an Hour in a Room where the AC makes the Air dryer then a fucking Desert.
New Music? Fuck that. I was never interested in Popmusic. It's interchangable and bland. The modern young People could listen to Stuff that was new ten years ago and they would have to pay less.
Most Music i listen too is public Domain or unprotected.
Will there be more People who are conscious about Copyright Protection in the Future? Maybe our Children will discover old Media and watch that.
Not in an Effort to Fuck with the System, but because the Hassle with modern Media just isn't worth it.
This whole Thing may lead to less Exposure of the People to modern Content. And that may lead to less People caring about the newest Content, which will make the Hearts of the Contentmafia bleed.
The Contentmafia will try to charge more Money from People who buy older Stuff but that will only create more "classic Lovers" who'll consume Media that's so old it's public Domain or free to begin with.
Everytime you consume unprotected Media, the Contentmafia gets no Money from you. Maybe People will do that more often in the Future.
