On topic: Eventually yes, there will be no more FF games coming out. I suspect however, that the Nation of Japan will die before Square Enix's role playing behemoth is allowed to come crashing down.

As a brand name Final Fantasy can be applied to pretty much any Role Playing Game, perhaps that's how they're made and the whole FF developers thing is a tightly scripted conspiracy.

Based on who's getting banned and who's banning them, I'm guessing this has been a while coming and either the effect of mods just having run out of patience. Or their collectively doing something a bit too out there. We can but speculate (and speculating is fun!).
Although this does compound my theory that anyone who busts 10k posts within 12 months is guaranteed to get banned.

Final Fantasy is a brand name, so I imagine as long as there are JRPGs it will continue on. I take "Final" as being like "the Final word in".

And if FF stops, it's probably going to be when then Square thinks "What can we do and still get away with it." Then there are going to be a few more games because they will be able to get away with shit (fans, you know). And then they'll push it over the edge *poof* no Square no FF.

They stopped making Final Fantasy games after 9. It then became high school musical with swords. The new FF games are very pretty, with occasional interesting dialogue, but then again I can get that from DOA beach volleyball without spending 20 odd hours hoping I get to the fun part.

not at all, they're all different games, give them different titles and no one would complain at all, giving them the same title is just instant money and hype.

Square-Enix should either name everything differently (which is hard work to think of 12 new names in the main series, I'll give it a try, Final Fantasy, Rebel Army, Final Fantasy 2, Repentance, Crystal Legends, War of the Magi, Mako Burst, Guardian Force, Tantalus Tales, Pilgrimage, Final Fantasy Online, Ivalice Chronicles 4, Purge Cocoon, Final Fantasy Online 2) All of those are shit though

i have a feeling that some of you are not fans (nots saying your fanboys/girls but simply like the series) of FF and others seam bitter at 13 not being the game that descended from up high as the hype would have suggested.

Final Fantasy's name is because the original was a gamble made by square to try to keep the lights on, so being what they thought would be there final game they named it final fantasy

Usually, the title fits. After all, each Final Fantasy is the big, final epic fantasy...of that universe. Granted, sometimes, the rule gets broken. X-2 being the most obvious offender. It actually kind of works that every Final Fantasy is a finale for a newly minted universe. Franchise wise, its never final, but realy, storyline wise, it usually is.

Your thread just broke there. Final Fantasy 2 is not a sequel to Final Fantasy, etc. . There are two actual sequels in the main line of games; one is a movie, the other exceeded the uneasiness of the laughing scene.
