We've all been waiting a long time for various reasons. Some of us are genuinely interested in the game, some of us are curious as to what the studio has been doing for twelve years, and some of us just want to rip on it. Comment and discuss.
Its ugly as sin, the shooting looks suspiciously weak, and previews have been rather underwhelming.
I don't really get the craze for shooters that aren't "serious" lately, but if you are a part of that craze, don't just give your money to the first game you see that claims to be that.
The game was much more interesting when it wasn't coming out. And Randy Pitchford saying "review scores won't affect sales" is rather telling.
I'll probably be like many other players who haven't played the other titles in the series (wasn't into shooters when they were current), but will probably get the game out of pure curiosity. Between it being an industry-wide joke for over a decade and the how obscene(ly over the top) the game is... well, who wouldn't be curious about it?
That and one of my favourite sub-genres of comedy is the affectionate parody, something the Duke appears to embracing (if it isn't the entire point of the franchise)... with gusto.
Maybe later so I can nostalgia all over it. As of now I don't feel like carving the money necessary to buy it out of my college funds. Woo, unemployment!
im preordering the balls of steel edition
WHY YOU ASK
1. its the fucking duke, chuck norris's only fear
2. it was him who brought my sorry ass up better than my parents on the n64
3. you can throw your shit a draw cocks lmao
*3 is just a sick lil bonus but really, if you have never ever played the DN games before this DO IT
If the over the top writing and sheer ridiculousness of it all can last for the entirety of the single player experience I will definitely be picking this up.
I'm not a big FPS fan but I've been able to thoroughly enjoy Bioshock and Portal for their story/writing so i'm hopeful this will work out as well albeit in a different direction.
They've done an absolutely fantastic job with their recent trailers though, they've all been ace in pumping up its audience.
I plan on buying it, maybe not pre-ordered, but I am definitely going to buy it.. For one, I wan to see just how obscene and over the top it can get. And I remember playing a Duke Nukem game on PC years back (probably back when DNF first started development), and would love to revisit that world.
