Probably. I only won't be getting it if it ends up being awful, and it really doesn't look like that's the case.

I trust Gearbox enough to make a quality shooter, and I do think it's really cool that they're having the game finally come out after all this time. Still, I'm not just going to drop $50 on a game just because it took a long time to make. It has to be good, too.

Yes because it looks like the most interesting release this year except for Portal 2 and Skyrim. I'm sure I will enjoy it because I don't have that much in the way of expectations.

If I was going to do that I would have already bought Bulletstorm.

Probably. I want to see how games were in the 90's without having to play games from the 90's. I was born too late for gamings sake.

I haven't bought a first person shooter game since Half-Life 2. I'm very weird about which kinds of games I buy. That said, the game looks like a blast to me. I would check it out if I was the kind of person that buys these types of games...

Gonna have to say no. A game about a meme character that was funny 14 years ago doesn't sound appealing right now. Maybe I just did this "growing up" thing I hear so much about.

I actually find the Duke to be funny, and it to be entertaining to punish those alien dumbasses who keep ASKING HIM to trounce them.

Nope, it looks rather crap.

Its ugly as sin, the shooting looks suspiciously weak, and previews have been rather underwhelming.

I don't really get the craze for shooters that aren't "serious" lately, but if you are a part of that craze, don't just give your money to the first game you see that claims to be that.

The game was much more interesting when it wasn't coming out. And Randy Pitchford saying "review scores won't affect sales" is rather telling.
Because a lot of people are sick and tired of the the copy-cat "serious" fps's coming out now. Battlefield 3 and CODMW3 are circling eachother stealing ideas. Its all degrading into generic crap thats not fun, intersting or entertaining, designed to appeal to the lowest comman form of consumer.

Suprise that there is interest in a movement back towards fun games with over the top protagonists. This and the new Serious Sam ormise something lacking in the boring modern fps market.

I don't think you've understood what I've said fully, and "Its all degrading into generic crap thats not fun, intersting or entertaining, designed to appeal to the lowest comman form of consumer. "

Its not like DNF is appealing to anything higher.

You don't think this is a more niche market then the gerneralized appeal to everyone that COD, Battlefield, MOH are all striving for? It almost has to be.

Edit, But your right, that doesn't mean it will be good. Bulletstrom tried this too and that fell flat for me.

Its smaller, I don't think "more niche" carries the right connotations with it. And its only smaller because DNF is now so old.

I won't pre-order it. I might buy it when the price drops. I'll probably buy it preowned off Amazon or Ebay for cheap though.

It looks rather crazy, which is exactly how I like it. Given, I'll probably pick it up later, but it looks pretty damn fun. Not GOTY material perhaps, but heej, whatchu gonna do?

Because we've been absolutely flooded by them in the last 5 years or so. But it's not just shooters, it's everything. Where do you think the popularity of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic came from?
