And they've done a terrible job of it.keideki said:From the looks of it the deep down stuff is unaffected, it is just the UI they are overhauling.
If you're referring to games, there's programs out there that will allow you to play most popular PC games on a Linux machine. I'm spacing on the name, I'll throw it in an edit if I remember, but it's out there.SoulSalmon said:Well it's obviously a little early to form a solid opinion, but first impression is certainly "Ugh, that looks annoying :/"
It seems to me that every second Windows OS blows chunks... and Vista was the last one, so we'll see if this pattern holds up.
I just need a *nix build with better compatability running programs designed for windows >.> Then I'd be a happy chappy.
I think it's called cross over, or Wine.Agayek said:If you're referring to games, there's programs out there that will allow you to play most popular PC games on a Linux machine. I'm spacing on the name, I'll throw it in an edit if I remember, but it's out there.
I'd definitely just run Kubuntu or Arch Linux if they let me play my games, but I'm not willing to pay for that software.
Probably has something to do with the fact that it's not trying to market itself to people. If it weren't for the fact that it's a pain to get my games to run stable, I'd be all over Ubuntu.Frotality said:if youll excuse me, i have to go apologize to linux for ever doubting it. i now see its the only sane OS left.
Agreed, if you're going to allow for artistic expression in the OS of a PC, at least allow it to be customizable/andor turn-off-able.lithium.jelly said:Oh God, no! That looks horrible. It looks just like Windows Phone 7, and that's very crap as it is. And I thought the interface designer of Windows 7 was on crack. What the hell is wrong with whoever's behind this?!
Seriously, Microsoft, stop letting designers have anything to do with building the interface to an OS. Get an engineer to do it. I want practicality, not "artistic expression"!
