I'm a massive elitist when it comes to guitar, and especially bass. This is one of the reasons why I loathe Guitar Hero. I've been around guitars all my life, been playing for years, gotten grade 8 in both bass and electric guitar, and then some little brat comes in brandishing a GH controller, plays Dragonforce on it and thinks he's god! That bastard!
Real guitars are for old people.

Speaking of instruments, I play the drums and I'm sometimes a bit of a twat about how much better I am than certain people...but it's only when they're being douchebags, so I don't know if this counts.
I play drums too and when I first started High School in 2008 I had some kid in my class bragging to me that he was far better than me despite never actually seeing my play and I had never seen him play. We played together one lunch time and it turns out that he had only been playing for a couple years.

My friend plays drums as well and we are about at the same level of skill (although I think he is slightly better) and we are talking one day and my other friend comes up to us and is like "Yeah he's way better than you, you're shit compared to him. I've seen you both play so I would know." I told the idiot to fuck off and that he doesn't know what he's talking about.

I don't usually act like an elitist when it comes to drums because I know people far more skilled than I am but then there is times when some kid who has just started playing thinks he is so good because he can play some pop rock song on drums. I can't resist the urge to show off and be an elitist about it.

hint: half of the guitar hero buttons on TTFAF is from the keyboard segments.

but hey, I guess hitting the same eight notes would make for a boring song, right?

as for me, Quake III Team Arena.

I dont really need to say much about it.
If you can beat the last boss of Quake 3 Arena on the hardest difficulty, I'd eat my hat.

That stupid monk doesn't even really have to move and will instagib you from across the map with a railgun constantly. He doesn't give you a chance at all.

I've seen many many elite FPS players try to do it, and none of them have succeeded :p

I'm not really an elitist, but I have really strong opinions and I hate being wrong, so that's why I read up on what I talk about, I don't do amazingly at school, I should probably start applying myself. Though I agree that when people say "real gamers only play halo" my brain tries to explode through the roof of my skull, though I'v heard that more for call of duty.

Let me tell you a story about me, of all people. Ever since the 6th grade I've been arching. Either at school, in clubs, or with my own bow and arrow. I went up from the homemade wood bow to the store bought metals/plastics. So its was no surprise that when we do Archery in Gym class, everyone knows I'm the best. Whatever, I said, its a skill and I'm modest about it. Hell I taught as much as the gym teacher on those days, I never showed off unless some kid was mouthing off.

But that's not when it gets bad, in high school, I started using crossbows, they're way different in my opinion so it was like starting from scratch. I'm not a fan of guns but someday I hope to get Marine Corps Sniper training, to complete my little "Trilogy". But in this day and age my extensive knowledge of these 3 Marksman Weapons is slowly turning me into an Elitist, you see people on CoD going crazy about Snipers. Listing off a bunch of letters and numbers like they're pros at it.

xXSniperElitexX killed you with a sniper rifle "PWNED HAHA YOU GOT SNIPED OMFG!"

I usually end up hating this personality, people who are like "hey snipers are cool in halo they kill in one hit and they cant see me i want to be a sniper when I grow up haha" while I spent my whole life with these weapons (more or less). It gets my blood boiling then it hit me... I'm a goddamn snob! I don't shoot crossbows much anymore and I've never shot a gun yet in order to 'change' I guess. But when you get really good at something, and make it your life, its those kinds of people who will piss you off. I can only imagine how I'll feel once I'm done my training -.-

So, have you ever been an elitist at what you do?
So you get to be elitist by being awesome at a game? Guess that would explain why I've never been an elitist. :(

General knowledge, computers and a few other things. I hate myself when I realize having such elitist thoughts. I really don't want to be like that.

I apparently should be elitist about my intelligence. My teachers have been praising certain pieces of work like mad... I think everyone else is just failing really bad cause they don't listen to the teachers' comments on their stuff. I think I'm a fucking moron though o.0

Well I'm not going to willingly admit I'm an elitist, but I say within the bounds of honesty that I believe I'm quite talented at drawing. I can back this up with my major, my grades, art blog, the art thread and some testimonials. I also know how to be a better drawer. If trying to teach people how to draw better makes me arrogant then so be it. I am an arrogant art snob. But elitist? No, I think it takes a certain type of pretentious art-snob to really be elitist.

I am pretty awesome at programming and computer trouble shooting. Hell, I've been the de-facto tech-guy in school for as long as i can remember. So it gets pretty damn annoying when people try to "help" me i.e. spout techno babble. It brings to mind an episode of RvB:

Simmons: *stuff i don't feel like typing*
Griff: Oh yeah, i've seen that before, you should upload a virus to the mainframe
Simmons: What? This isn't a mainframe system!
Griff: Have you tried Hacking it?
Simmons: Ugh, just let me work.
Griff: How about Cracking it. Would Cracking it Work?
Simmons: GRIFF SHUT THE FUCK UP!

I'm serious, this has nearly happened to me verbatim. This conversation took place between me and a person I'm just going to refer to as "Idiot"

*i am having trouble getting into a program because it's anti-piracy stuff is acting up, no i did not pirate it*
Idiot: What's wrong with it
Me: Well, it uses some kind of internet verification system to see if it is a genuine copy. this one is, and for some reason it's returning with the answer that it is not.
Idiot: Try uploading a virus into the security website.
Me: alright, a. its a system, not a website, b. a virus doesn't do shit if its not written for a specific server, and c. shut up, you're not helping
Idiot: try putting a virus into the program, see if it will turn off the security
Me: Where the hell am i supposed to "get" a virus, and why would putting one on my computer help anything
Idiot(who obviously thinks viruses are sentient beings, not computer programs): well just make it so that it just goes into that program and shuts it off
Me(incredibly pissed at this point): GO AWAY! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!
In that case I would download a crack for it off utorrent or someplace similar, as a 'fuck you' to the company's DRM. Do I sound like a techno babbler or did that make sense haha.

I hate people who give computer advice after they make a myspace page layout, they think they know all about web design, ugh.

Ugh. There was this one guy I used to go to school with. Really fat, really obnoxious, and he thought he knew everything about everything. Well he didn't. He always used to talk shit in front of the girls to make himself look smarter, but every single time I tore him down. He'd listen to the DotA song, and say it was from World of Warcraft.

"Hey this is such a cool song, Liam gave it to me. It's from World of Warcraft!"
"Uh, no... it's based on DotA."
"Which is from WoW."
"No it isn't, it's from DOTA!"
"Dude, it's from WoW, Liam told me."
"What the fuck would Liam know? I've played DotA, and it's NOT ON WORLD OF FUCKING WARCRAFT!"
"Oh."

This isn't verbatim, but a good representation of almost every conversation with him went. Sure, he was close (DotA is a custom map in Warcraft 3), but he sprouts his stupid, uneducated opinion in the hopes that the other person doesn't know shit.

He also thought he was a master of CoD4, and the first time I ever played it (and the first time I ever played an Xbox 360), I whooped his ass.

I am actually quite good at drawing, and fuck yes do I rub that into everyones face. I hate people who try to critique it and then I say "K, nice to know".
Also, this makes you look like a complete moron. An artist who doesn't accept valid criticism isn't a fucking artist. They just draw pretty pictures.

Also, how good of a drummer are you? And where do you live?
I like to think I'm pretty damn good considering I've only been playing for a little over 4 years. But like I said, I don't mention it unless there is douchebaggery afoot, like in this situation -
I'm not sure how I'm a douchebag but whatever...

It comes with the territory I think. If you're good at something people should no it and hence the elitism.
