I'm sorry but I really hate America, I have no problem with Americans if I know them. I talk to them all the time I wouldn't be racist towards then or anything but overall ehhhhh I have an irrational hate for that country.

I'm sorry I guess....

It's all good. I'm the same way about all of Asia (except for Tibet and India) and France.

I think Amercia as a term for the USA, rather than either of the continents, is pretty widely accepted. In fact I think it's mainly propogated by Hollywood!

Anyway, why do stereotypes exist? That seems to just the way people think. And Americans (sorry, people from the United States of America) have the stereotype of being ignorant, macho, overeaters whose disdain for the rest of the world is matched only by their ignorance of it. Massively unfair? Yes of course. But then not all French people wear a beret and stink of garlic, not all Brits have bad teeth and talk like Victorian-era schoolmasters, and not all Australians hop to work on a kangaroo whilst chugging castlemaine XXXX.

Ok maybe the one about the French is true... ;)
But those other stereotypes are not as widely accepted as "AMERICUNS R IGNARENT!"
Yeah, they are. Ask some Americans (sorry, Citizens of the United States) what they think of the French. Then ask about British. Australia might be a little harder. These stereotypes are accepted. You're just annoyed about the Ignorant Americans because you are an American (which MEANS US citizen). It seems more offensive because you are a member of the insulted group.
And Austria is right next to New Zealand right?

You know, America IS a country, it's also two continents. Kinda like it's really called the PRC but instead of calling it that (the People's Republic of China) we just call it China.

1 America is a total of two (2) continents
2 The correct term would be US Americans or US citizens (unless he really hates every country in America)
My questions are, why do people from other countries have such a hate towards another country that is equal to it if not slightly better/worse? And ignorantly assume all the people in said country are equally as stupid as the one with the most Darwin Awards?
to be fair I don't hate any one nation more than any other.

I just hate everyone equally until I know enough to hate them more or actually like them.

it's part of patriotism and part of bigotry/ignorance, it's part of the world, it has been almost forever. It's a survival technique an us vs them mentality that many people adopt when it comes to people that they don't know or understand.

I'm a citizen of the US and there are plenty of other US citizens I hate and there are people of other nations that I hate and others that I would call better friends than other Americans. saying you hate a nation is just dumb because you can't assume everyone is the same as everyone else, that cheapens your own life as well as other peoples

Also, technically America would include central and south America as well, not just two nations, unless you mean North America

I just don't like the Hardcore christian americans but they veary from state to state and the obnoxios americans e.g. the ones who call me gay every time I play Muliplayer with my mates.
Scince when was a british accent was gay?
Also the ones who badly imate the british accent.quote]

She seems to be zigzagging between a stereotypical old english accent, some kind of regional accent (yorkshire?) and just making stuff up.
I'm not sure how anyone can claim that a british accent is gay. For a start, which british accent? There are about a million regional accents across britain.

Whenever an American insults my accent, I remember one time an american cod player said 'Im gonna kick your fannies.' Considering the combination of an american accent, that a child's voice through an xbox headset always sounds retarded, and that in england a 'fanny' is a childish way of saying vagina (like calling a penis a 'willy') that sentense was hilarious. Perhaps you had to be there.
Anyways I'm not getting into a debate against who hates who for whatever reason. There was one about why do Americans hate Canada earlier and i cba to rewrite my opinions.
I will however say; 'screw the french.'

When the abbreviation USA is also commonly used it is not ok to call a single country by a shortened version of its name. China is not the name of a continent and was called china when it was not communist, The US was not called America prior to its democracy.

Ok so I was perusing Facebook, and I am a "fan" or "like" a site called lamebook [http://www.lamebook.com/up-to-date-updates-2] (which is basically pictures of people being stupid on Facebook) and someone said in the picture "Happy 2010th birthday America." That is where the problem starts, see in a reply to the link a man, we will call him Trevor, being from another country said "God i hate Americans." Now this shows a great deal of ignorance on his part as obviously because of:
1 America is a total of two (2) continents

To be honest I would have commented on that too since the guy is claiming America was born same year as Jesus?

And you're seriously nitpicking at using the term "Americans"? I get called British or English and I'm Scottish - the terms you mentioned all mean the same thing, the ones I mentioned aren't

I wouldn't go as far as saying I hate a nationality because of a comment but patriotic ignorance like that is the thing that just really irritates people from other countries. A good example is the people who tell you to "Speak American" - that will fire other people up very quickly

Each countries own history plays a lot in modern relations as we all dwell upon the past. It's just that America being a newer country that it is focused upon more.
All our ancestors have gone into other countries and slaughtered the indiginuos races that lived there before us.
Now most of those countries have their own countrymen in power except the USA. They have had a black President, now how long will it be before they have a native American in the White House governing his or her own country.
Not long I hope.

Also an Aborigine in power in Australia too would be just as cool.

I don't hate the country, some Americans i've spoken to have been nice people, it's just that it is a small minority, every other american i have spoken to has been an asshole who's first comment was an insult for being british. It's just how it happens, also, patriotism from said minority.

American is a much larger scale, I personally want to ignore citizenship everywhere and have people just be people nothing more or less but that is too different of an idea for most to accept.

Hate stems from ignorance in all cases, and is fueled and extrapolated by emotion.

Well that's fair enough but generally American refers to a citizen from the USA while South American refers to anyone on the southern continent.

It's a good intent to ignore people's citizenship but problem is it's part of their history and who they are and most would refuse to let go of that.

Knowig the major points in history is important (slaves, holocaust ect.) but minor details like George Washington cutting down his father cherry tree is useless. We are all Human we all share the same history, We all have ancestors who where effected by slavery and Hitler.

Because Americans have the habit to be known for being arrogant assholes. That's just how it works. They hate us, and we hate the French. It's really nothing new.
this, they also lack a good sense of humour, they are notoriously less likely to be funny. they tend to claim that america is amazing, when it pales in comparison to many countrys. and yer, they're american so they're very elitist

That's because America is a large, global superpower. They kind of have to pick a side each war/ start it. Most major wars after WWII involved America/Soviet Union because of an ideology clash. Then, the new Iraq war is because of retaliation after a terrorist attack on New York. The older Iraq war was because of a dictator refusing to obey UN regulations about WMDs. America became the enforcer to make Saddam give them up. Being a global power with a large military, it makes sense that they would be actively involved in most modern wars.
trouble is though that although you are right that america took over the role of "world police" after the british empire fell into collapse (see our track record aint that great either tbh) they sometimes havnt made a good job of it since the role is to resolve and eliminate conflict and not start it. case and point is the conquering of palastine by israeli hands. although the british did give their palistinian held colonies to the israelis to do with as they see fit (under american duress). the israelis then expanded the size of their country by taking over palastine through american weapons money and support. look at how much israel has expanded since their creation through conquest.

http://www.kadaitcha.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/palestineshrinks.jpg

although the israelis may claim that it is their right to own this land due to holy reasons you can also claim that the vice versa with the muslim faith with one of their most holy mosques being based their (the dome of the rock) also christianity has a pretty big stake their as well hence the crusades during the middle ages when the catholic faith and papal authorities had practically the final say on everything that happened in the holy land and europe.

however im coming off point though we'll leave religious views for another day. so you can now see why israel and by extension america is hated by middle eastern powers. thus as an attempt to put fear into the average american citizen alqaeda destroyed the twin towers (there are conspiracy theories that america did this themselves so that they could have a reason to invade afghanistan and somehow by extension iraq but i believe this to be utter crap) so america invaded afghanistan on the basis that they will not have their homeland bombed and so bombed theirs along with invading it with troops and tanks among other war machines to make sure the job is done.

then they invaded iraq on the basis that they have WMDs (still none to be found to date so either there were never any there to begin with or they have magical WMD hiding fairies)

to sum this up the reasoning for the two above wars i leave you with this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpP7b2lUxVE

and the way the obama talked about iran saying they need to implement a carrot and stick affair i suggest preparing for another war after the iraq afghan debacle is over since they will most likely have their finger on the big red button.

so as you see america hasnt done a very good job at being world police since they have funded wars and have had to participate in wars that shouldnt have happened in the first place due to bad decisions they have made in the past. also check out the hypocracy by looking at the suez canal war and seeing americas reaction to that then look at everyother war that israel has started and look at american support on that.

tbh honest im not sure whether britains policy on world policing (rampant imperialism) was any better then the americans policy on world policing (oppose anything that has red or looks like red on it (1940's-90's) to shoot at anything that is a freedom fighter or might look like a freedom fighter)

as a final thought to leave you people with take a look at these statistics and you might begin to see why some people hate american policies on foreign affairs and their stance to the world

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Fy2010_spending_by_category.jpg
americas budget plans for 2010 notice the 18% spent on american military and 19% spent on their homeland security (paranoia) fund as opposed to the 4% being spent on education and 12% being spent on medical care and i bloody hope that that 8% chunk isnt their NASA program.

amount of money to be spent on the military for 2010
1 United States 663,255,000,000 4.3%
2 China 98,800,000,000 2.0%
3 United Kingdom 69,271,000,000 2.5%
4 France 67,316,000,000 2.3%
5 Russian Federation 61,000,000,000 3.5%
6 Germany 48,022,000,000 1.3%
7 Japan 46,859,000,000 0.9%
8 Saudi Arabia 39,257,000,000 8.2%
9 Italy 37,427,000,000 1.7%
10 India 36,600,000,000 2.6%

in order to have spent more then the us you on military you have to add up all the countries starting from china down to 18th place which is greece which comes in at 667811000000
btw this is us dollars

like i said before in my first post on this topic i dont mind american people and dont truly believe in their stereotype but one think i cant stand (as i have shown through my above arguments) is their policy on world politics and effectively employing the same tactics in politics as they do in war which is a mixture of shock and awe and brute force.

p.s notice i did not mention anything on how the US sometimes conducts there wars i'll let you find that out for yourself. just type into google wikileaks camera stand. btw for those who know about this incident but didnt hear the verdict. all the pilots of the aircraft were cleared of any charges but the person who informed the media of this "incident" was sent to jail for treason i think which is just a fucking disgrace

p.s.s sorry for the wall of text

The US doesn't have more stupid people than other countries. It just has more stupid people opening their mouths.
freedom of speech will do that.

and on topic, people have a need to feel like their group is better than all the others. it's part of your personality and it's called a superego. because if that person over there is better than this person who is like you, or even the same despite obvious visual differences, maybe you're not special after all. in most people, this realization would produce a shame spiral and deep depression-it's been proven by science. and freud.
