That, and didn't it say she showed him pictures? Wouldn't that tip him off as to how old she is?
The kid was 13. I doubt he'd have known even a ballpark of how old she would have been except for the fact that she wasn't around his age. That being said, I find the idea of him being ok with a 23 year old woman sleeping with him a little odd. Don't get me wrong, I'd have been stoked to see naked pics of women when I was 13, sex though...I'm not quite so sure. Not saying it's his fault, but it kind of makes you wonder why underage kids date older people, because it's not all that uncommon. Once you're legal, who cares, but it's not exclusive to adults.

"Whenever I read or write about these sort of events, I always feel a little sick to my stomach. That said, I feel worse about this story because Hicks has molested at least two victims, and one of them was only barely a teenager. At least the woman is being held without bail, which implies that authorities are taking the threat she represents seriously."

You seem to be missing a MASSIVE HOMERUN HERE......

SHE HAS CHILDREN!

How did you miss that??!

I'm not all that surprised considering with the popularity of online gaming you have more underage kids meeting and interacting with adults and with no way of screening who has access to online games you have incidents like this happen.

Too bad she wasn't hot she might not have gotten in so much trouble since she's a female.

That is disgusting.

Just, no, I'm sorry all you people out there, but this is not okay in the slightest sense.
There is absolutely no reason for a 13 year old to be sexually active - and I don't really care about if the woman he'd be having sex with was 36 or 13 or 18, there is no reason for a kid to be having sex. Yes, whatever, there are exceptions, some kids are more mature, but there are always fucking exceptions and they are as a matter of fact the minority. But for christs sake - my brother's 12, and he pretended to puke when he saw me kiss my boyfriend, which should be the very most common reaction among kids. They should not be encouraged, by anyone, to have sex yet, because, face the facts, the vast majority are not fucking mature, or informed, enough to realise all the potential consequences of it nor are they most likely capable of actually getting what the act of sex means.

And let's not forget, it's not all about one person here - there are two individuals involved in sex(usually), taking into to consideration only one of them is not looking at the big picture. This woman in this article probably have some damn issues, and they've probably not been properly adressed, which can actually be why this happened at all. She too can also get huge emotional scars from this, hell, she probably has them already.

This situation brings nothing good. Seriously.

Why should closemindedness and denial be the common reaction? If anything, we should just educate them on sex, the consequences, safe sex and that kind of stuff rather than go "LA-LA-LA IF I NO PAY ATTENTION IT GOES AWAY!"

Ummm no it has nothing to do with sex education, a crime was committed, how about crime education.

Ah, the puritanism of the US never ceases to amaze me (more like the rest of the civilized world). Had this happened here, people would be joking about it.

Hmmm... and I thought woman did not play video games, this is a new one on me lol

It is a disgusting matter of course but what honestly can you do? It is also surprising how stupid some people are. I mean, she has a family, and yet she ruins it. Some peoples moronic nature still amaze me.

Did I ever say that? No I did not. And my kid brother pretending to be puking when I kiss my boyfriend is not ignorance nor denial, it's a damn joke and a sign he doesn't get it just yet, which is completely natural.

Of course education is extremely important - of course people need to know about safe sex. I thought this was fucking obvious.

But it's not the only factor, but of course it's a rather big one. You can educate them as much as you want - but if they don't have enough common sense, and do have shit tons of raging hormones, it's probably not gonna help to much because frankly you're not likely to stop in the middle of making out with someone and think "oh, right, condom" when you're thirteen.

Inform them - but don't push them. There's still no reason for kids to be having sex before they understand what the point is and potential consequences. And clearly, as a thirteen year old, you usually do not.

My comment was more directed at your statement that what your little brother did should be normal.
Oh, my bad. LOL

I think little brothers and sisters cringe more at the sight of seeing their elder siblings kissing because little brothers and sisters don't want to think of their older siblings in that way, just as they don't want to walk in on their parents having sex either.
