Words you've unknowingly mispronounced.

So, after watching some Marvel vs Capcom 3 footage and following up with some research, it turns out I've been mispronouncing Amaterasu for a long time.
You'd think it would be pronounced: Am-ah-teh-rah-su
Turns out it's pronounced: Am-ah-teh-ras


Yeah, Japan fucked me over again, *shakes fist* I'll remember this!

So, fellow escapists, any words you've mispronounced for extended periods of time? Either because you've never heard the word spoken or because you simply can't say it?

With respect to original latin, the second p is silent so like "Eh-po-tosis"

I only found out I did it last year in 10 English...

Possible reasons why I pronounced it like this... Watching "The Big Comfy Couch" on a really bad TV when I was little...

I pronounced Aion as A-on for a while, apparently it's eye-on. I said meme as meh-meh for ageeeeeeeeeeeees too, I was genuinely shocked when my brother said it's pronounced meem. I still pronounce it as meh-meh anyway, fuck yo shit.

Meme did me in. It looks like the french word même, which means "same" so it even made sense for it to be based off. I still prefer même (rhymes with the middle part of remember) than meme (meem apparently).

as a kid i always used to say "genre" as "jenn-urr" and no one ever corrected me till 4th grade when i used it and my teacher said "what..what is a jenur? what are you trying to say?" which i immediately felt embarrassed and had that burned into my head forever to never say it like that again.

where i'm from we have near zero accent at all, (which is apparently why we have so many damn foreigners who move to our location, as they can understand us the easiest) and i have never heard it pronounced gay-raj

-Fool (Foo. I drop the l, I don't even know why).

Phlebotinum( I just winged it and made plubinium. Which doesn't sound anything like the right way). I used to mispronounce meme as me-me as oppose to meem. Ooh, I also recall calling Rattata(from Pokemon) Rattatata(Rat-uh-tat-uh).
