I wouldn't say I love it, but I do like to play it.

A little of everything now and then to keep it fresh. For instance; I've just started levelling a mage, with a warrior, warlock and hunter on hold and a priest that I raid with once or twice a week. If something gets boring I switch to what I feel like playing.

I call it World of Warcrack for a reason, and for reasons of health (namely, no addiction), I don't play it.

I've gotta say, I'm pretty much lovin' it right now. The world is beautiful and fun to explore, and even though the quests can be kind of repetitive and tedious, they're not too bad. It can be a lot of fun to group up with some random people if they look like they're doing the same quest that you are.

Why do people hate warcraft?

I cant speak for every justification but what I have seen to be the most common ideology is that it is Overly and unjustifiedly popular.

Its structure was pretty much ripped from Everquest. Its UI is a direct rip from EQ2. The story narratives are unoriginal as it just rehashes common themes from other notable works of fiction. Even the graphical pieces get used to death. How many town inns are identical except for the placement of graphic assets inside of them?

Lastly, blizzards modus operandi of over polishing. Its basically the masturbatory approach to game development in the thinking if we just polish this long and hard enough eventually we will splooge out a gem.

I dont personally hate the game. I just dont like it and not for the reasons above. To me its like the kindergarten edition entry into the MMO realm. The game is entirely too easy. It panders to bottom feeders. The problem this brings is the real reason why I dont like the game, and thats the people. Seriously I hear people talk about warcraft like its some utter revelation and its not. Talk about their gear, which is unimpressive and not even remotely interesting especially when your not playing it. There have been better MMOs that have came out with vastly better features than WoW some of which have ended as failed, but people will tell you that WoW is better than anything else, when the only thing that actually makes the game enjoyable to those people are the people they are playing with, and not the game.

Again, dont hate it. I respect that it is well made, but it is completely undeserving of its hype.

I've been playing it since a few weeks after it's release, and I still play it to this day. But when I mentioned recently on my game design course to some first years that I play WoW all of them seemed confused. One of them said "But I thought only fat geeks with no friends played that game?" Really the majority of people who hate it, haven't actually played it and hate it for no reason other than it's a stereotypically nerdy thing to do.

i play wow. i enjoy it. the leveling part can be fun. i like the social/teamwork side of it. getting 5-25 people working together to down bosses. i have meet guildies in real life. went paintballing with some recently.

but i also dont announce to people in real life that i play it. there is something about wow that people dont get and if they know you play it it can warp there perception of you. too me wow is one of those topics you just dont alk about in public. if someone else brings it up sure join in but just keep it to your self otherwise.

I love it! Been playing for 5 years now, on and off. I think the people saying the grind is boring probably aren't reading the quest text or stopping to look at what they're doing. A lot of the vanilla zones are done very well, such as the Plaguelands, Tirisfal, Elwynn, Duskwood, Westfall, and more.

It gets flack among my friends because of the monthly fee. Which I don't really get. $15/month isn't a lot, especially considering that you aren't buying as many other games since you're playing WoW.

I've played it a couple times and Im fine with the game itself, just i dont like how you have to buy the game and then pay to use it... ignoring that little detail though, i like it.

I definitely have a love and hate relationship with it. I love how the game doesn't take itself to seriously and the game generally makes an effort to create a diverse and dynamic world with tons to see and do. Of course I reach a point when if I want to progress any further I need to basically sign my soul off to a raiding guild and pledge massive amounts of free time to it to see and do all there is to see and do in the game, then I get to hating it. I think many people hate it now a days because it's getting mainstream enough where people hate on it to feel special and think they're too cool for the crowd.

Love it! Well designed, always updated and extremely good values for money. 15 bucks a months for as many hours as I get out of WoW is a fucking bargain!

I dislike playing co-op with people, especially playing in a team of 25. Too many arguments, too much drama, and lots of insults being hurled around simply because people are hidden behind the internet. Pathetic.

I play Free For All in CoD4 now, at least you only get insults hurled at you when you're doing well.

I neither love nor hate it. Like all MMO's I tolerate it's presence and understand why some people enjoy the experience but have never managed to find entertainment value in them for long. Regardless of what people might say in defense, I find that a game built around increasing some integer value as I play is only appealing as long as the actual mechanical interaction is appealing. And, unfortunately, the appeal of said mechanical interaction has run out long before I ever reached the end.

I make a minor exception for PVP oriented games like Warhammer and Eve, simply because the unpredictable nature of PVP allowed for a more varied mechanical interaction. Even this grows old quickly.

Strangely, I still play First Person Shooters, which somehow seem immune to this particular notion. Stranger still is the fact that they are largely unchanged from when I started playing them against other people 14 years ago.

Don't really care about it. I play and have played it, but I can't really get that into it. Whenever I do I have my guild disbanned, so I can't stay focused into it. I guess love it if it's going to be such a dictatorial way of saying it, but my answer would be meh...

The game is not bad. It's old, stale, but still has a charm. I don't care what Cata is going to upgrade, though, it's still the old Warcraft regime. PvP is still fail, too. Being an RPer, I got to experience the 'best' or what they call 'best' of the community and social aspects. They're just... downright bad. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, and I'm sure there are a lot of good folks on WoW, but.. the sheer ego stroke of it all is simply disturbing. The 'cool kids' club that pretends to be the 'uncared-by-Blizz' underdog.

I quit about 6 months ago. Good thing, too, I don't regret it at all.
