US soil within a week... interesting... It's damn impressive for China to gather the resources and equipment to bypass US defense systems, including the vastly superior USAF and naval systems, plus 5,000 miles of ocean (Bering Strait doesn't count, as it is impractical for military purposes). Even a week of uneventful preparation isn't enough. If the US and China went into a direct Pacific conventional conflict, it would be in the middle of the ocean if anything. Plus... in terms of alliances, China works alone for the most part, thereby eliminating treaty obligations. Chin does what it wants, basically, but the US has NATO, and the combined projection of power would ti the balances far in NATO's favor.

im surprised that throughout that story the US did not use any of its nukes considering it had lost.
im afraid something like this will never occour until someone gets a 'star wars satalite' defence system. the nuke fear is way too big. otherwise it was interesting.
NATO ha an ABM defense system, not on satellites, but rather ground and sea-based missiles.

One thing, how does the fact that while China has a bigger army it is not as technologically powerful of the US factor into this?
The Eastern Front during WWII - German armoured columns made up of high-tech Panzer tanks are wiped out by the 'cheap and cheerful' Russian T-34, because the Russians had more of them.
The Germans had 3.5 million men, thereabouts. Russia fielded 7-8 million, while the Germans, throughnout the eastern front, might have had 5... probably less. China outnumbers us by less, and out ability to hit them at home with precision and speed plays its role.

What kind of crap is this? China could never beat the US. All china has is old Soviet tec and what ever they have copied from the US. Its the same thing with the Cold War, an army of conscripts will never be able to defeat a well trained army. Quality verus quantity.
You're definately right. There is no way that a well trained, well equiped army *cough*Germans*cough* could ever be defeated by a bunch of poorly equiped conscripts *cough*Russians*cough*.

"Quantity has a quality all its own." -Joseph Stalin

Yes better trained and better equiped armies usually fare better than crapy ones, but when you can't properly replace your casualities as fast as the enemy, your "better" army will continue to dwindle faster and faster.

"Oh no! You blew up four of my tanks with your one tank. Too bad my final tank blew up your one. Looks like I win."

Interesting read, but how come after Taking over most, if not all of the US, China and Russia don't first squash the Canadian army, then start killing each other?
Why would they kill the canadian army, there army isn't even a threat to grandma

Im sorry but you forgot something called "Force Projection"
meaning the ability to move forces and support them around an arena of conflict

China can barely move troops within its own border let alone the rest of the planet
The US, on the other hand, can put forces anywhere in the world within 24 hours

Another problem is M.A.D. or Mutually Assured Destruction (you kill them, they kill you) which is why there is a very slim chance that there will ever be a full scale nuclear conflict

and more than likely, the next "great" war will be fought between India and China being both rising economies in the east with large populations and nuclear arsenals

EDIT: that whole numbers vs technology argument holds very little water in modern conflict epecially since the US could destroy hundreds of tanks and vehicles before the Chinese even knew they were under attack

yes the Russians beat the Germans in WWII with superior numbers but there were other things that made that victory possible
The Germans were under Hitlers command while(later in the war) the Russians were under the control of generals who knew what they were doing
The Germans were in a two front conflict where as the Russians could dedicate most of their forces against Germany
WWII for the Russians was a war for their survival and when the lives of your friends and family are on the line nothing will stop you from being victorious

And thus WW4 shall be fought with sticks and stones.
This was Einstein's theory on world war eras wasn't it? First would be with sticks and stones, then great floating vessels, next would be flying instruments capable of destroying everything, then the fourth would be back to sticks and stones. Or something like that.

No... the second the US notices a huge mobilization of troops and war engines in China we'd come a knockin at their door and ask what's up. And if they further mobilized and set up an attack or invasion we'd call in our favors from Canada, Australia, Europe and Israel. China does have a huge standing army, but getting it here would be a HUGE problem, especially with the USA and their allies blocking their path. Also the fact there are millions of armed citizens in the USA would cause a further problem for them, so with our standing military, reserves, civilian militia, and allies we would be a hard egg to crack. And even if China got pissed off because we couldn't pay them.... they wouldn't attack their #1 customer. Without the USA's need to consume China would go right back to being a poor country.

If America does go down.... it will most likely be from within. That would be China's time to make a move, but by bailing us out... not invasion.

I'm sorry, but this theory is utterly retarded.

First of all, how do talks with China magically break? Over loans? China can't call in the debt without literally destroying their own economy.

Why the fuck would China invade Canada? To get to the US? Which ever general came up with that idea is a fucking idiot.

How would NK invade SK, considering that SK is more powerful economically and militarily, plus have an alliance with Japan, who wouldn't fear invasion from China because THAT WOULD MAKE NO FUCKING SENSE.

Why would Russia move into the Middle East? Last time they tried that they got seriously fucked. Not to mention that they have enough Freedom Fighting going on in Chechnya. US presence is not keeping Russia out of the Middle East, THEY DON'T WANT TO BE THERE. Why would Iran start taking over other nations, it can barely keep itself together.

Countries can't simply decide not to get involved, you know, after signing a little something called the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, whose main base can be summed up as fuck with one, you fuck with all/

Do you know anything about Post-WWII/Cold War International relations? This is completely moronic.

the logistics to pull off a multiple front war like that would be outrageous. A front on the east coast, west coast, Canada, southern coast. I find that scenario interesting but mostly improbable.

It wouldn't get that far. Besides, every damn American household has guns in it. The Chinese forced would be decimated before they hit the farm belt.
In that way, America would be one of the hardest countries to occupy. As well as the number of guns and people who are trained to use them, i think Americans would actually do pretty well in urban and guerrila warfare.

Sorry but there is no way in HELL that China manages to get into Canada and Cuba whilst attacking the west coast and then shortly afterwords take New York. China doesn't have the logistics to supply troops in that many different locations, for one. And for two Canada would halt Chinese advances in Canada, American naval powers would stop advancement onto the west coast OR east coast (just how the hell did you figure they'd get over there, anyway?) Meanwhile, U.S. troops stationed across the world would mobilize with the rest of NATO countries (can't attack one without being considered in war against all of them) and stage an invasion against China from the north and west.

North Korea has no chance in hell of successfully invading South Korea without major aid from China, who wouldn't have resources or troops enough to aid.

Eventually American naval power would take the pacific theater along with aid from Japan, European nations and southern Asia nations assault the Chinese land, and eventually China falls.

So much of this war was riding on China being omnipresent and the rest of the western world sitting back and watching.

If Russia and China do group up, they would already control about around 30 million square kilometers. To put that into perspective it's only 3 million sq km^2 smaller than the largest Empire in history (the British empire, 3 times bigger than the entire Europe continent and 20% of the Earth's landmass. Not to mention 1.5 billion people.

The only thing that would work against these industrial beasts is co-ordinated and tactical alliances in the Western world or a nuke.

Also the amount of money America spends on the military comes into play. 700 billion dollars. 50% of the world's military spending and 7 times more than Russia and China combined. Also,as i posted earlier, the percentage of households with weapons in America is very high so the civilian fighting population would prove to be difficult for the invaders to take care of. Assuming they actually move in to take the city, and not just bomb the crap out of it until there's absolutely nothing left. If they're capable... America could. Without nukes. But other countries? Probably not for an entire invasion.

What i think would happen if war was imminent between America and China (which is really likely)

? Russia - Sit on the sidelines and defend themselves from Chinese expansion into their country. Maybe take some surrounding countries with oil reserves. Try and stay neutral.
? European countries - Instantly intervene if America looks threatened by invasion. The EU would stick together however no matter what.
? African countries - be oblivious and try and stand up against any invasions and fail.
? Middle eastern countries - Same as Africa, but put up more resistance. Also way more likely to be attacked for oil, which is vital to wage a world war.
? Australia - complain about not getting any good video games.
? Japan - Group up with the Westerners. Maybe rape and pillage a couple Chinese cities when China lose.

I think anyone would be stupid to attack America. Look what happened to Japan in WWII (high five for whoever watched The Pacific), despite their massive tactical victory at Pearl Harbour.

In 2013 talks start to break down between China and the US. The UN tries its best to mediate but it is beyond repair. China calls in the debt, America refuses to pay.
And that's where this story breaks down.

China can't call in the debt without literally destroying their own economy. The economy that, so far, is the only reason the Communist Party is still in power. China's not run by children.
no country would be stupid enough to take us down right now, most economies out there are tied either to the American consumer or the American investor, taking us out would drag the whole world down and most countries know this, as long as American business keeps its hand everywhere we're safe.
