Worried about Mass Effect 3

Well I am, since Mass Effect 3 has been on development probably 2 years only.... I mean, look at Dragon Age2, I haven't played any dragon age game, but people were pissed for DA2 and what was the problem, 1 1/2 years on development, I saw a gameplay trailer of mass effect3 today... it kindaa looks bad...

Well this is gamescon today and that is the EA pres conference, at some point later they will be replaying todays coverage so that's proably the newest stuff. Also if you're going to judge an entire game by five minutes of video other people having a problem with games you didn't play then you might as well stop playing games altogether.

I'll be honest.

I'm not bothered about the gameplay at all in this one. Right now the only thing I care about is seeing what the hell is going to happen. The storyline has me.

I don't care if all my guns fire ferret shit at the bad guys i'm genuinely curious as to how a group of tiny people will stop the Reapers.

I need to know.

I need to know now.

Eh, I didn't think DA:II was all that bad, so feel free to disregard what I say.

I'm not all that worried. I won't follow the hype, but I think it will turn out fine.

To be fair, many games are on the 2-3 year dev cycle: Mass Effect 2 included (and that game was spectacular). As for the game play, I think it looks like the last two entries in the series, just a bit faster and more fluid. Sure people are going to make the bizarre Gears of War/Halo/CoD clone comments - which I disagree with wholeheartedly, but really the game looks like itself and I think it will be true to itself: a character driven space opera, rpg 3rd person-shooter that has been fine tweaked to the developers original dream.

Looked up the trailer just now, it seems like they didn't do much on combat, and there were same old enemies in same old environment... maybe they put everything on story.

It's pretty solid - it isn't a complete shift like DA2 was compared to Origins. The gameplay is similar to ME2, but I really just want to know the story.

Mass Effect 3 looks no different from Mass Effect 2 in terms of combat gameplay, and I thought Mass Effect 2 had pretty good combat. It seems to be more of Mass Effect 2 at this rate, which I don't think is that bad of a thing.

on the bright side, Mass Effect 3's level cap is 60 again, the devs just confirmed it on Twitter, so that means alot of imports will be level 30 from the start

This trilogy has been planned and carried out for 8 years apparently, so it might not need all that time, since the story was already ready.

I don't know how I feel about this; I kind of like exploring the different paths through level ups rather than dumping xp points in at the start without seeing the benefits of the skills first hand

It looks fine to me. As long as it plays similar to ME 1 or 2, I'm fine with it. The only thing I really care about are the characters and the story and I saw Garrus in the EA pressconference and that made me happy.

Really? Maybe this video will help (it's spoilerific, but the video does a good job of warning you. Just make sure you read the description before watching if you're like me and don't want to know story and character-related stuff).

I disagree. It was an all right game, but far below other games made by Bioware. Shoddy storytelling and horrendous railroading were two of the nails on the coffin of this game.
