To be fair, many games are on the 2-3 year dev cycle: Mass Effect 2 included (and that game was spectacular).
I disagree. It was an all right game, but far below other games made by Bioware. Shoddy storytelling and horrendous railroading were two of the nails on the coffin of this game.

EDIT: HOooooooooooooooooooo there... Wait one second. In that demo, did he really say:
the Geth are working with the Reapers
? I undid that in Mass Effect 2, for fuck's sake. They better have a damn good reason for having them turn sides.
To be fair, he may be referring to the Paragon ending to that mission, where
Legion said that there is a possibility they could go back to the Reapers if you reprogram.
If you took the Renegade route, they probably won't be a problem.

OT: I dunno, I've been watching a lot of gameplay footage and interviews on the game, and it looks like the best of both games are making it into this one. The gameplay from 2 and the customization from 1. Dammit, March, get here sooner!
For the rest of this post, I'm going to assume that this is a quest everybody has to do, since it looks really elaborate and crafted with Bioware's full attention. I don't think they'd do that for a quest half of the playthroughs will not see because of a choice made in the previous game.

Honestly? I don't care. Apparently they decided to undo one of the major 'moral' dilemmas in this game (with moral being somewhat constrained by only having to renegade options). And why? So we can fight some more Geth? I don't care about fighting them, to be honest. I've fought them for two games now, and a change of pace would be nice, thank you. Not only that, but you're doing it whether it makes sense or not to do so.

Well I am, since Mass Effect 3 has been on development probably 2 years only.... I mean, look at Dragon Age2, I haven't played any dragon age game, but people were pissed for DA2 and what was the problem, 1 1/2 years on development, I saw a gameplay trailer of mass effect3 today... it kindaa looks bad...
Just a general question here.. you do know that this video was alpha stage stuff? And are you also aware that BioWare games are focused on story and character progression, and not insane quality of graphics?

I don't really expect BioWare to deliver me a graphical wonder at any point in time, what I want is their story telling and for them to keep pushing their vision.

That's why DA2 did not bother me. Re-used environments back and forth, BioWare has been recycling their environment since.. ever. Except in Jade Empire. mmmmmm.. Jade Empire....

Eh, I didn't think DA:II was all that bad, so feel free to disregard what I say.
Disregard you?

DISREGARD YOU?

Why, sir, the very thought of DA2 being 'not bad' is an affront to my internet honour! This can only be resolved through a duel to the death!

Meet me at dawn, and bring a pistol and pogostick. Pistol to scare the meddling people away, and the pogostick for the duel!
Actually, since you challanged me, dueling etiquette deams I chose the weapon

I choose insult fighting!

Fine. I shall honor the etiquette.

I'll make the first shot, though.

The first thing I have to say is... you are worried about Mass Effect 3 because of the fact that other people didn't like Dragon Age 2, when you yourself didn't even play Dragon Age?

Your worries are more than a little silly. If you're worried you won't like it, play Dragon Age 2 first, see if you like it, and if you don't then yeah you are allowed to worry... somewhat.

I'm not worried about Mass Effect 3, the reason being is that I think the team know what they're doing with this one. They missed the boat with Dragon Age 2, but it wasn't by any means a bad game. It was just a bad Dragon Age sequel. You must also remember who is in charge of which games. The Executive Producer of Mass Effect 3 is Casey Hudson and he did not work on Dragon Age 2 (If I'm not mistaken) and I trust Casey Hudson with his franchise. More likely than not the reason Dragon Age 2 didn't come out as other people wanted it to was because of its' producers.

EDIT 1: Also, if you listen to a lot of the interviews you'll know, Mass Effect 3 has technically been in development for much longer than two years. The producers and everyone on the Mass Effect team were already planning the last game when they were doing Mass Effect 1 & 2. The game was always intended to be a trilogy, so they have never stopped working. They've known what they've wanted to do with the series for a long time.

Take that how you will.

EDIT 2: And what gameplay trailers are you looking at, good sir? The trailers look really fantastic so far! (maybe the combat is a little too fast... but that's hardly a gamechanger.)

Technically Shepard didn't choose to destroy the Derelict Reaper. He got inside of it and then the kinetic barriers went up which made it impossible for the Normandy to pick them up. Not knowing anything about the controls meant that the only way they could possibly get out would be to destroy the drive core that powered the kinetic barriers, but unfortunately that meant that it also wouldn't be able to maintain an orbit around the brown dwarf star and would fall into it.
While I agree Shepard didn't have a choice in deciding on the Reaper about the fate of the Derelict Reaper, I find it odd that considering that Cerberus has just given Shepard the definitive proof he/she needs why wouldn't Shepard go back to the council and show them this Reaper?

Edited for clarity.
I imagine it had something to do along the lines of being in hurry to get the IFF in order to stop the Collectors and he figured he'd show the council later, but that is just assumption on my part. Personally I would have called the Council and the Alliance and slap the Turian ambassador in the face, especially considering how "quickly" things must be done that didn't stop me from going to the clubs on the Citadel and drinking to the point that I wake up next to a pissing Turian in the bathroom.

Combat just looks like an updated version of ME2, which is fine by me; it's the story that has me hooked.

One possibility people didnt consider... what if you imported a mass effect 2 where you didn't do Legion's loyality mission and he/it died or a default game... just speculation but then it would make sense

Actually, I'm surprised I didn't notice this sooner. You're going to be able to go to the Quarian homeworld.
Those aren't heretics, those are normal Geth. Needless to say, that will make for an interesting dilemma. Choosing between Tali and Legion.

And here I was thinking that I was the only one who remembered that
Tali's father was working on a method that could effectively turn the geth back into slaves to the quarians, and that Daro'Xen sends you a foreshadowing e-mail about it if you don't turn over the evidence to them, effectively setting the stage for a very hard choice come ME3.

Yes, it's been announced officially that Mass Effect 3 will have no multiplayer.

Thank God :p In my opinion multiplayer would have ruined ME3 =/

It was announced at Gamescom.

DA2 had only about a year, it could've used the extra 6 months.
Compared to that, 2 years is definitely enough time for a proper game to be developed, especially one that essentially re uses the same engine such as ME3.

I'm certainly not worried about it being rushed.

But Legion said that True Geth didnt fight with the Old Machines... unless something change

also very well thought about the Quarian-Geth expirements

The latest footage I've seen looked like an updated version of the combat from Mass Effect 2.

....How is that a bad thing?
because the combat in me2 was highly-polished, boring shit
Says you man.

For me the combat in ME2 was way better than the combat in ME1.
yes, it was better, but halfway through my first play through i was already bored with it. in me1, you were a lot more mobile and you had to make conscious decisions regarding you cool down, as in wether to burn out your equipped weapon and switch, or hold off for a minute to get to a better position. while i think they should've kept accuracy changing to the weapon mods, and scrap all weapon skills, i see brilliance in the original design, through the cool down and omni-gel mechanics, but with a but of trimming and smoothing out, it would've been the best shooter of 2007. i have yet to be tired of the shooting mechanics, although i can think of quite a few ways to tweak it for the better.

And yah, while I wouldn't go so far as boring, it's clearly not what Mass Effect does best. But for the sake of sales they've sold themselves to it.
that's why i'm crying over my legion(and tali, garrus, mordin, jack, and thane) bedsheets
