I was working in a lab with no windows. It was rather startling to have the power go out, plus slightly... interesting to get to the door.

Oh, and to Bullfrog1983, you don't need the qualifier at the end of -40c. -40c = -40f

That is if you're not thinking Rankine of Kelvin, but noone really uses those outside of a laboratory

Winter. The power died when it was 10 below zero, which meant everyone in my family looked like a cocoon of blankets in the family room around the fire.

ok i think its been established that the worst time to lose power is right before a savepoint on a very difficult game and the temperature outside is absurdly hot\cold.

OK its not related to gaming but the last job I was building composite rocket engines. and while filament winding the power went out. All of the material went into an exothermic reaction, burst into flames, $45,000 part ruined, $15,000 in damage. That sucked!

This is what I thought the thread would be about, as I live in Melbourne, Australia and for the past few days we have been having an awsome heatwave (several days over 40 degrees Celsius in a row) and power is going statewide. So I would say, like mcshiznit, that the worse time is around 3pm when it's 45 out, regardless of what your doing (even swimming is annoying when it's this hot).

Humidaty in melbourne varies, a lot.
Melbourne weather is unpredictable, we go from raging summer storms to iced over puddles to dry heat to mild all within a week. I really does depend how sadistic whoever is in charge of the weather is as to how humid it will be.

Loosing power just before you funish a uber-awesum ship in Battleships Forever, on which I worked on for the entire day, and the night before that. It happened to me once, the power went out as I pressed the save shortcut key. And in my view, a ship isn't finished until the final save is completed. Just to clarify.

Well, this never happened to me, but imagine your choking the chicken, you're getting into it and start getting close. BAM! No more power.

On a related note, I was raiding Illidan (World of WarCraft) a while back, and our main tank disconnects. Everyone just yells "STOP DPS!", "Keep healing the tank!" on Ventrilo. Shortly before he reconnects he changes to demon form where the Warlock tank (me) picks him up. We downed him on that attempt too.

Having to go through the final boss all over again because the fates conspire to cut electricity in the middle of watching an ending.
