There was an achievement for like dying, and it was actually worth negative gamerscore. I think it was for Command and Conquer 3 or something like that. /thread

The bloody skulls in Halo 3. Imagine a scenario of four player co-op where TWO of the players want to play the game and the other two want to decimate game flow to try and reach an almost impossible to obtain skull so they can unlock some armour that is NOT HALO and doesn't belong in the game.
That is annoying as people 'skull hunting' destroys gaming experiance for the rest of us.

Edit: Seriously I hate the Hyabusa armour, I remember the conversation.

Friend: "Dude do it, think how cool the armour would look."
Me: "I play as an ELITE. Why would I WANT the armour?"

Also Hidden achievements are retarded.
Not so. I remember laughing out loud when I accidentally stumbled across the 'Irony' Achievement in Bioshock.

As for me, I would have to say the endgame achievements in Fable 2, of which you get 1 for each alternate ending.

No-one in their right mind would choose anything other than 'The Needs of the Few'. Seriously.
In Mirrors Edge, there's a secret achievement where you jump off of a guy and flip him off. It was too funny.

'let sleeping rockstars lie' from GTA4. you have to kill one of the game developers online, and the chances of doing that are minimal
well i must be pretty damn lucky, i got that and i have played gta 4 online a grand total of twice...and i sucked.
The achievement is viral. Meaning that one person did kill a rockstar employee afterwards he gets the status as one and so on and so on. I have the achievement so if u kill me now u get the achievement
OH and the one bullet achievement for HL2 Episode one was actually fun. You can use rockets and grenades.

I hate the ones that are for leveling up the completing the levels I can understand.

I personally love the ones like the gnome one in Half life 2. ***** to do and funny as hell.

Saint's Row 2's Co-Op achievements. Putting co-op in your game is fine, but putting this many achievements related to it is ridiculous. Not only do you have to play through every mission with a friend (who also has the game and a 360, because there's no splitscreen), you also have to do every single boring ass activity with them. And you get MORE points for beating the game with someone else. How is beating a game by yourself less of an achievement than doing it with the help of someone else!?

Also, use X ability Y times achievements. They're just unoriginal and annoying. Mass Effect has some of the worst, and so did LEGO Indiana Jones.

auf Wiedersehen Petrovic in GTAIV - Win all ranked multiplayer variations, all races and Cops 'n Crooks, as both sides - 30 points. Not only is it insanely difficult to keep track of, but many of the modes have zero players and are impossible to get into these days.

Those ones you get for beating a level. I'll take the ones for beating the game but not the levels. Thats just dumb.
If a level is very difficult I can see a reward for it. COD4 on Veteran mode is really difficult.
THIS¡¡¡¡ this is EXACTLY what I was going to say, on COD4 after dying dozens of times, when you complete a level gettins that "bleep-bloop" achievement sound is so damn rewarding and it makes you feel you actually achieved something(although acutally achieved nothing in real life)

P.D. yes, I might sound a bit schizophrenic but I just completed nearly half of that damn game in veteran

I'll go with Mass Effect's completionist achievement... Seriously? They want us to go over the game fully 4 times, completing EVERYTHING each time?
You have to complete all of the ally achievements to get it? I was under the impression it unlocked as soon as you got your first ally achievement (finishing 15 missions and 50 assignments).

If you're right, then yes that would DEFINITELY be the worst. Yay for 90 hours for 1 achievement?

Mine would probably be Prince of Persia, you get a silver trophy for starting the game.
its because no one would play so they made it so you get a trophy and achievement (its the same for 360)

i think the worst achievement is save one bullet from orange box its pretty much beat epsode i with using one bullet
I got that achievement on my first play-through...

No, I'll bite the bullet and say I think I messed up there, it should unlock supposedly not long after the ally achievements according to some threads I've read today (Mine still hasn't managed to bother...).

Sorry for that.

There is a point for the achievements you receive when completing a level. It entices the player to beat the game, and the achievements are logged on Xbox Live. This allows developers to see statistaclly how many people, who play their games, actually beat it.

In a development view, these achievements provide a vital role in the development of future games.
Never thought about it like that, makes great sense actually...

Me too, second playthrough though. It was fun, different, and strategically felt like a whole nwe game. Only using the grav-gun and grenades to get through the game was actually really fun, and if it weren't for the achievement I probably would not have attempted it at all. However, after I did it I realized that it was fun, and that maybe some achievements are meant jus to entice someone to do something they normally wouldn't, because its well... fun!

I agree. I think the Orange Box achievements are good. Like Don't Stop on the Sand. I tried doing that the first time through and it pissed me off because I didn't get.

I thought it only counted as walking on the sand if antlions came, but it turned out it counted even if antlions didn't come.

I did it my second time through, and I felt pride. If you get an achievement and just go 'meh' then it shouldn't be an achievement.

Oh yeah, worst achievements...

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic multiplayer achievements.... There is NO ONE playing it. That last person who played was on like a year ago...

Another one was Naruto: Broken Bonds. You have to become Hokage rank. That means you in the top (I think) 1000. I'm jounin, but getting Hokage....
