Yeah they totally suck
Just compare them to western anime with cool name.
"Family Guy"
"Ben 10"
"Magilla Gorilla"
"UBOS"

Totally makes sense, Right?

Translate it to japanese and we will see how much sentiment remains.

For me it is a tie between:

Dragon Ball Z or pro wrestling as an anime with less of a plot and fights that last 3 or 4 episodes and are 70% people standing still screaming. Woooo!

and the lets scream Inuyasha, Kagome for like half an hour show.
Sure Dragonball Z started to fall into this after the Frieza saga, but Dragonball is a great anime and so is Dragonball Z. Sure they stand around pooping themselves for 5 episodes, but at least when something happened it was the most badass 15 minutes on TV.

Such a good series.

Saying that though Dragonball GT is probably the worst anime I have ever seen.

It has to be tied with Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, and post-first season Pokemon and Yugioh.
What are you talking about? Dragon Ball Z was like that from the very beginning, always standing around powering up and taunting each other, watching them charging a super for a whole episode to find it does fuck all in the next. Then the other parts were filled with cliche crap, clumsy character moments, angry women & drama queens, flash backs and random filler. I think I watched Goku charge up a spirit bomb for 20 episodes, just to find out it didn't do jack.

Dragon Ball wasn't as slow as DBZ but really childish, really really childish. There is no way your going o convince us it's great.
"Us"? Who is this "us" you speak of? You mean no one will convince "you" Dragonball was great.

I am sure a lot of people agree with me just as they agree with you.

I think the fact that you stayed and watched 20 episodes of Goku powering up a spirit bomb means deep down you liked it.

Wait Dragonball was childish? A children's show? No way!? Haha next you're going to tell me Shindler's List was dramatic!
First of: Us. As in Nautical Honors Society and me.

Second: I watched it when I was kid. I used to like many things that had a lot of flash, stupid humour and sensless violence, but then I grew up.

Third: *sigh* Don't make it difficult to respect you, there was no reason to be a smarty pants. If you respond rudely because you hate seeing an opposing opinion then that's very immature and you probably shouldn't be here.
You know this thread is about listing the worst anime you have ever watched right? But it seems as though you came here just to pick a fight with me. Sure you could argue you were going to say DBZ is the worst anime, but in reality that would just be a cover for you not actually responding to the thread at all.

If you respond to people completely ignoring the purpose of the thread because you feel the need to call someone out with an opposing opinion then that's very immature and you probably shouldn't be here.

This has gotten silly, and I don't want to hijack this thread any further, please resist the urge to respond to this because I will no longer continue this conversation.

OT: Naruto, Bleach, One piece, and Dragonball GT are some pretty bad anime.
Funny how you say that after quoting Nautical Honors Society to tell him your opinion that it's not the worst, then I respond saying that it sticks. No, it's completely on topic and you have yet to defend it.
Dude I am Nautical Honors Society. I don't know what you're talking about. This may have been a big misunderstanding, but it's over so it's all good now.

The Fullmetal Alchemist anime was the reason I stopped watching anime, so I'd probably say that was the worst. Pity since the manga was actually pretty damn cool, but I guess they thought making the anime shit was a better idea?
sorry for the double post but I didn't see this.
It is still one of my favorite anime series ever but I will say that it failed the Fullmetal Alchemist name.
I liked the manga. I read, I think, 40 chapters of it, and it was good. The show started really good as well, and then it started to go downhill. I tried to remain objective, I tried to stay with it, but then it got to that episode that started with Roy contemplating suicide and the glasses dude (name?) talking him out of it in this completely apathetic voice, and I gave up. Way too emo, couldn't handle it, I never looked back. And then I couldn't bring myself to finish the manga either. Yet another example of the anime ruining the manga. :/

That's why I was so happy when they made the real FMA anime last year instead of that filler garbage made by someone other than the original author. Brotherhood is the manga brought to the screen.
You do realize that the author of the original manga told them t go in a different direction with the first anime right? Also Brotherhood sucks. The pacing is awful in that show and it really really rushes through the stiff in the manga that was covered by the first anime. It operates under the assumption that you've already seen the first anime, and so you'll forgive the fact that their rushig through the parts that were already. I have a BIG problem with this. Also how can you call the first FMA filler when its plot ACTUALLY went somewhere and had an ending. It was different sure, but not filler.

Yeah, agreed, didn't like M + N in death note, it started off amazing and continued like that, without spoiling, after such and such happened, M + N's introduction kinda killed it and kept it dragging like a dog on a leash tied to a speeding car ¬_¬
Yup. I rewatched DeathNote quite recently and finished at the episode where such and such happened. That seems like the natural end-point, everything beyond doesn't exist for me anymore. M+N were shite.

Every season of Digimon besides the 4th season. I know, I'm going to sound like a troll, but they showed Digimon Frontier on Diseny XD(?) and I fell in love with it. I never liked the other Digimon series. Really, even the lite sereis that XD showed like Shinzo, and on FOX Kids, Kirby Right Back At Ya!.
Seriously?

All digimon anime I have watched was actually pretty damn good. Pretty mature for a kids show, too.

Of course, I watched the subbed Japanese versions, so..

Also, evertime somone says DBZ on this thread, a part of me dies inside.

Well t be fair to those people DBZ is awful when it comes to filler, which is why I much prefer kai to the original. I do love the crazy over-the-top-ness to it all a lot though.

Read the manga then, it combines the lack of filler in kai without any censorship, assuming you read the more recent prints.

Also, DBZ DID have one good filler: ss2 goku vs Majin vegeta.

Best. filler. ever.

I used to watch bobobo bobo bobobobo simply because it was an anime made fun of anime cliches.

Also, yahtzee pointed this out recently, but I hate how in anime every character has reaction noises and grunts that they make when they get hurt or realize something. It's weird as hell.

The first half of the original FMA was spot on, and then it went on into it's own garbage when they ran out of content. I know they have to put in filler when they're making an anime for a book that is years from being finished, that's how it goes for a lot of them, like Bleach and whatnot. There were a few minor details from the first anime that should have been shown in Brotherhood, but the only part that was really left out was them telling us who the hell Yoki was without having to use a flashback nobody knew about. Besides that, Brotherhood has just been vastly superior in every way.

I think you're misunderstanding what i was saying, or maybe I wasn't clear enough. They didn't really leave anything out that was covered in the first anime, but I feel that they really didn't take enough time to portray the events as well as they should have. It really felt like they were going "Yeah we know that we've already covered all of this stuff in the first anime, just bear with us tis stuf is important but we'll get it out of the way as quickly as possible." Of the parts that were covered by both Brotherhood and the original anime, I can't think of a single part that was portrayed better in brotherhood if you get where i'm coming from here. I guess i'm weird (and in a way lucky) in that when i took a break from reading the manga to watch the anime I was almost at the exact point that the anime breaks off, so I actually love both the first anime and the manga and to me brotherhood doesn't come off as well as either one.

It never felt too rushed to me, but I have heard other people say similar things, like certain deaths seeming less important. There are tons of things I like about the first FMA, mostly involving the movie. I mean, that's what got me into reading the books in the first place. I'm probably being way too hard on the original series, so I'll apologize for that. It just becomes troublesome discussing certain parts of it when the plots vary so much from one to the next, mostly with Pride of the original actually being Wrath in the books/Brotherhood.

I think the best way to at them are as 2 separate entities, like how I look at the James bond films compared to the books. I love the movies, and I also love the Ian Flemming novels but oftenthey are VERY VERY different. Sure the films generally have plot similarities to the novels they are based on but they often change just as much as they keep. I don't hold it against the films if they change things as long as they stand up on their own merit. I mean I think it's a bit silly to say, this changed things therefore it is bad. I mean look at Blade Runner. It's generally seen as a brilliant film, but it's VERY different than the novel it's based on (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep) I try to do this with all adaptations as well. and i think if you look at it without holding it to the plot of the manga, i think it holds up VERY well on its own. Just my two cents

On top of my head I would say Devil May Cry is probably the worst anime I have seen. How do you get the concept of hack'n'slash wrong?

Yes, you should.
It's basically softcore hentai put in anime form with the premise that it's intended to raise interest to purchase products like action figures and models.

It's actually a fairly common concept in some rings of the anime industry, but when it's taken to an extreme what you get is a generic story with poor writing.

It's not good because it doesn't even have the ambition to be good. It's a paycheck.
Isn't that pretty much how Transformers work?
