In before Bleach and Naruto .

If anyone mentions Hellsing or Elfen Lied, I'm gonna crack some heads.
And the worst anime I've seen, was easily Lucky Star.
Easily. And I watched a lot of shit in my time.

Granted that most anime's nowadays are pure crap, but Lucky Star was a special kind of retarded show-thing.

Also, honourable mention to FullMetalAlchemist. Overrated and uninteresting.
I could spite you by saying they were crap, but in case of elfen lied, i'd be blatantly lying. It's one of the best.
Hellsing TV version is, in retrospect, a flaming pile of failed design choices and unimaginative story writing.
The OVAs are pretty good. But there are better.
Lucky Star kicks arse. If you say otherwise your opinion is wrong and punishable by anal violation.

Worst ever is probably Nadesico. It is so full of cliches it leaks out at every turn. It doesn't even bother with the political scheming or semi-interesting characters and psychological profiles that keeps Gundam ever-so-mildly interesting, ah yes, it is a mecha anime. Best one could even hope from it is cool fighting and funky robots... but it fails to introduce any.
It is horrible.
Also worth spewing a few ounces of bile are Afro samurai, zombie-loan and school days.

Okay, I might have missed a few posts agreeing with me and my choices, but seriously, ha no one here seen "Plastic Little" or "They were Eleven"?

Also, while I'm not surprised to see most everyone screaming at the new anime, or the popular ones, I'm something of a sadist and like bringing pain upon myself by putting forward logic into internet arguments.

First up, the "New anime is crap" views. In the late 90's and early 2000's, there was a big influx of good stuff to places other than japan, and this is true, but it has nothing to do with stories and artists being better back then. Same as today, ammount of internet anime was being downloaded was used to figure out what would sell, and what was getting uploaded and fansubbed first was all the cult classics and truely amazing shows, so that's what got released outside japan first. Things wind down, and there's no more old classics to get released, they too newer stuff and to keep up profits sell smaller numbers of a wider variety of shows. THE SAME AS REGULAR TV ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. Anime isn't inherently better than other forms of TV. Far as I can see, there's about 1 or 2 shows really worth my time a year, at best, same as the 900+ channels cable TV here in America provides me.

Basically, stuff isn't worse, it's jsut reached the standard level of competence as most everywhere else.

I don't get why so many people think School Days sucks. I can understand why people don't like it, but it's an good anime that puts a dark and interesting spin on the same-y high school romantic comedy genre.

It is seriously fucked up, but that's the point.

I gotta go with the extremely overrated Naruto.

It feels like a whole bunch of badly developed characters not acting like ninjas. The action is crappy the story is crappy and the animation is OK at best.

Edit: By the way count the "best" version of the anime you select. Crappy Dub Job does not constitute an anime being bad.
for the win

Naruto is by far the worst anime out there.... tell me of another anime that is more then 3/4 parts fillers.
Rurouni Kenshin I think, but those fillers were somewhat enjoyable.

No it wasn't.

From what I can tell, pretty much all it is adapted strain from the original manga (except Lucky Channel, but Lucky Channel is awesome)

I'd have to go with Yu-Gi-Oh! that anime is total crap.

"Oh no! I'm losing to some guy at a card game, if I don't do something fast the world will be in peril!" *Go through puberty* "HAH! I now have armpit hair, what now?!"

And yeah Naruto is pretty bad, but come on we all know Yu-Gi-Oh sucks even more.

Maybe it's just the cultural gap, but I don't 'get' anime. It's possibly because I dislike the voice actors chosen (English and Japanese, before someone mentions dubs), maybe due to the seemingly cut-and=paste battle scenes, or I just distrust the sexual mindset which allows sex with thirteen-year-olds (but that's a whole different issue, I suppose).

The one thing I hate about all animes, because all animes do this, is the fact that they over emphisise on movement and/or emotion. Watch an episode of Pokemon and you'll see what I'm talking about, particurally during battles and surprising moments which is pretty much all the time.
Or possibly this.

Actual worst anime I've ever seen has to be Neon Genesis Evangelion. People talk it up like it's the Second Coming and the Rapture rolled into one. I watch it and it's all faux-deep whining strapped to unlikeable characters and increasingly unwieldy symbolism. And the ending, oh God the ending. I'm thinking of relabelling it Pretentiousness 101.
*waits for inevitable fan counter*

FLCL... I know millions loved it and said it was THE THING but I simply didn't like it. This is by no means saying that it is bad, I'm just saying the story was so out of the limits of normality that it felt like a bunch of loose plot string flying in the air, to be connected anyway the viewer likes.
That's kinda the point. And one the reasons why people like it so much.
Honestly, I don't know if I've ever seen an anime with such a divided line of love/hate than FLCL
I don't think so. The who keep saying FLCL don't seem to hate it. It seems like they just "don't get it". Which is perfectly understandable.
I suppose that's a better way of putting it, but most of the people i know who don't like it say something along the lines of "it makes no sense"

FLCL makes plenty of sense. It's just hard to make sense out of it.

Oh, I know that; but I must've watched those 6 episodes around 10 times by now. People who only watch it once, or not even the whole thing, are likely to "not get it", and label it as bad.

If nothing else, people have to admit that The Pillows did an awesome job with that soundtrack

The episodes weren't fillers, each episode was based off of a group of 4 panel comic strips. Besides, there is no story that links the episodes together other than they are a group of highschool friends talking about the different aspects of daily life

Well, I just watched part of Elfen Lied, and it was a leeetle over the top for me. I don't mind Bleach and Naruto, they're not horrible, just overrated and designed to maximize profit. I never got into FMA so I can't really judge, but the violence looked a little dark for me. Yu-Gi-Oh...sweet creamy Jesus, but that anime pissed me off. At least I got to see the original Japanese version after a bit...I've actually forgotten the site I saw them on, all I remember is that it was a .co.uk site that had pretty much every TV show and movie ever. (This is a well disguised plea for help. Anybody who knows what the site is, please PM me.) I actually still watch Pokemon occasionally and the best anime I've seen to date is Soul Eater, though that may be subject to change without notice.

I find it difficult to blatently judge any anime without taking into consideration, what type of storyarc it has, what the setting is, what ages the anime is aimed at, and how old the anime is.

An if anything, I'm pretty sure Naruto isn't aimed at adults.
