"The Good Earth" by Pearl S. Buck. A late 19th century Chinese farmer and the craptastic life he leads. Imagine all these books you've hated so far stretched out to 500+ pages.

P.S. Thanks for making me think about this again after 20+ years of successful suppression.

Skellig...through the course of my school life so far, I have had to read the book at least SIX TIMES which, considering I'm in year 10 is almost once every year and a half and considering how long it took us to read it (NORMAL PEOPLE CAN READ BOOKS IN LESS THAN A TERM ((six weeks) it just got ridiculous. I actually more-or-less know the book off by heart and its not even that good a book anyways D-:{

Ah! Stormbreaker! Man that book was bad...
Seriously, you had to read that for school? What kind of weird ass place do you go to?!

Heart of Darkness would be mine. It was only about 100 pages long but finishing it was just horror... THE HORROR!

A Tale of Two Cities in my sophomore year, and the Once and Future King in my freshman year.

I have no idea how they managed to make such boring books, but god, I fell asleep through most of both.

The Catcher in the Rye.

The more and more I read the more I just got more and more annoyed with the character.
Holden Caulfield was just a tool. Wished I was reading something else the entire time

Oh my god, definitely A Tale of Two Cities. I was going to post earlier but I knew I was forgetting my least favorite book. That book had nothing interesting going on the entire time, and yeah I couldn't stay awake either.

Other than that, The Scarlet Letter and The Crucible were probably my other least favorite books. Especially since we had to watch the film version of The Crucible, and it was almost as bad as the book itself.

About a boy. That book (and movie) sucked! The only good part was when he threw that loaf of bread at that duck! ^^

And some swedish book what was it's name.... ah Oskar i paradiset! The translation would be "Oskar in paradise". No, it's not anything religious it's some kid that live in a house and get binoculars for his b-day or something. I read about 50 pages of it before throwing it away. It was in 3rd grade anyway so it wasn't that much big of a deal.

That book about someone who gets the french nobility out of france during the revolution. Named after some flower if I remember correctly. I actually threw that book into the wall after some time and never opned it again.

Catcher in the Rye.

What an over rated piece of shit. I wanted someone to murder that kid.

I did read some great books in school though, as well as a lot of boring ones, a couple that were probably worst that Rye. But at least those books weren't "beloved classics". Awful. Best thing that came out of it was the South Park episode, which summed up my thoughts perfectly.

Pretty much all of them. There was one decent one in 11th grade, but don't remember the name. It was about the Salem witch trials or something.

Im doing A level literature so i get to read allot of good books but the worst one was digging to america its just tripe and its a best seller only one person in the year liked it.

Here is some of the good stuff i got to read:

The kite runner
Death of a salesman
Othello
Dr Faustus
Frankenstein (I can totally see why people would not like this book it has not aged well)
Of mice and men

Catcher in the Rye. I found myself in a "blended class" meaning half mainstream and half special ed. The result was a 9th grade english class that spent half the school year on a single book, dwelling mercilessly on every chapter until every single student nodded their head in understanding. The teacher then gave me a D on the final test when the main question was asking my opinion. Apparently my dislike for the book (complete with specific and detailed reasons why I felt the book was rubbish) was not the correct answer.

My parents helped me get the grade amended to a B- when they found out I did so poorly in a class due to my opinion.

Probably "All Quiet on the Western Front", this year.

I really did not enjoy that book.
Oooh, I read that for English II. I found the chapters to be too long and boring as hell.

So my Worst Book Read for School is that.
